lived in southern cali for years and this is real deal mexican food. mexican tacos are the way to go but all is good.

our new favorite mexican spot. fast & delicious. the steak tacos, rice, beans, guacamole and salsa were all fantastic. it's a hidden gem!

si señor fresh mex is the real deal! my husband and i ate here for the first time this evening and will most definitely be returning. service, prices, and food were all great. highly recommend trying the carnitas torta.

good food

ate dinner here su -had the steak fajitas. the meat was a bit chewy, but not too bad. still, it and the (marinated?) veggies were very fresh and flavorful -very good to excellent. the portion was all i cared to eat with some left over. the beans were good to very good, but served fairly cold. the chips were ok to good, but the tomatillo and ranchero salsas on the salsa bar were very good to excellent -very fresh and i gather made there. the tomatillo salsa had noticeable fresh lime juice in it. i will certainly be back when nearby and readily if not strongly recommend.

stop in and ask for johnny, he is great a host and the food is amazing!  never have had a bad meal here. this is the best mexican food in jax!

love it!! checklist for authentic mexican: spanish speaking staff-check, telemundo on tv-check, a california burrito that includes french fries-check, and great salsa. they offer a salsa bar with salsas that range in heat levels and pepper variety. the guacamole was fresh and well seasoned as was their chicken and beef. the california burrito impressed this cali native.

i am happy to announce my conversion to mexican food, and that transition has not been easy.  my good friend and fellow blogger jill cruz kept after me for months to try this spot, which i successfully avoided like a plague.  having tried all the so called “authentic” spots in town only to find it all tasting the same, i finally caved in.

out of towners.
visited this place for the first time.
found the food very good, fresh, and cheap. loved the various salsas.
would go back if in the area.
id like to see them use table side/waitress service instead of the walk up and order. not a big deal, just a personal preference.

i usually just leave my reviews on google, but this restaurant doesn't give me that option. it's not even on google maps for some reason. i already tried to leave one review on facebook but it didn't go through.

i did not enjoy my experience at this restaurant. the cashier was quite rude. the default sides are rice and beans but i wanted to get rice and chips instead. i had to correct the cashier several times about what sides i wanted. they wrap to go orders in plastic, which makes the food soggy by the time you get it home. and you don't know what you have. i got home to discover that i in fact did not get chips with my order. too bad i didn't even have time to put the salsa in my bag before the cashier started rushing me away from the counter.

the food itself is fine, and they have a pretty good selection that i wouldn't mind trying. but with the service being so frustrating and the restaurant being in a part of time where there are so many better options to choose from, i doubt i will ever return.

good service but greasy and not for health consious. such nice people and great service, but need to get some better greens besides iceberg for salad. go easier on the oil for fajita veggies.

excellent real mexican!. first time i have had real tacos al pastor in the usa. excellent service, the owner offers a personal touch, good menu choices for everybody. margaritas are great!
