scratch brick oven

ahhhhh-mazing. i happened to be browsing urbanspoon as we were heading to johnson city last minute and i had nothing planned. i sawscratchand it caught my eye immediately. i think it was the "not for everyone" on the website. when we first walked in i was kinda worried we went to the wrong place... but the longer i looked around the more i loved it... toys and games to play with, a record player and lots of vinyl to pick your own music, self serve drinks in the cooler and the honor system when you pay! we got the whole wheat dough with meats and veggies and it was outstanding. the meats are made there and they are to die for! i highly recommend!!!!!!

not safe for gluten free (celiac). my husband and i tried thescratchbrick oven for the first time and unfortunately we did not have a good experience. workers were not friendly, service was slow, drinks were not cold and the pizzas were not good. i ordered the gluten free crust, he ordered the regular, neither were good pizzas. they advertise gluten free, but the pizzas are all baked in the same oven, they do not prepare the gluten free crusts in a separate pan like most other brick oven pizzerias do with their gluten free crusts, so cross contamination is certain to happen...needless to say, i wasn't aware of this until it was too late and got sick after eating there. we support small business too, but unfortunately we will not be returning.

poor. i can recommend any number of good pizza places in johnson city. greg's pizza has been a main stay in the city for several years as well as the pizza of their competitor, rocky's. sim's, luke's, and the mellow mushroom all have great pizza. atscratchyou can expect to pay 25 dollars for a mediocre pizza at best. two out of the three times i went here it was awful. not only was the pizza was burnt but the staff was rude and dismissive. the only draw this place has is the environment but you're more likely to find an enjoyable atmosphere elsewhere. as for me i'll not go again.

scratch brick oven foodworks  fits right in its setting near the campus of eastern tennessee university in johnson city. the decor is whimsical, the staff is fun and the pizza is way too good to pass up. there are different ways to order pizza at scratch. diners can select from the list of specialty pizzas, or they can choose to build their own pie. they can also havescratchstaff build a pizza for them. at the counter, tell the pizza maker what ingredients they don't like, or even leave the experience completely in the hands of the kitchen. there is vegan and gluten-free pizza. the wood-fired pizza oven puts a nice char on the medium-thick hand-tossed crust. this oven was built by the owners, and it also comes in handy with the bread sticks, which are essentially olive-oil-dressed pizza crust with a fresh pesto dipping sauce.  the kitchen created a veggie pizza with red and green peppers, banana peppers, kalamata olives, squash, zucchini, spinach and mushrooms. the sauce was evenly b

my husband and i tried this after hearing about it for ever and ever. my husband is usually kind of picky and traditional with pizza, but he was feeling risky and, to my pleasure, agreed to the trust pizza (well, limited trust since neither of us like olives). boy, we weren't disappointed!!!!! the pizza was so flavorful and delicious, the toppings were loaded on, and we both adored the green curry sauce. we both agreed this was the best pizza we had ever eaten. the prices are incredibly reasonable!!!!!scratchis now our go to place for pizza!!!

dont get it delivered, go there and enjoy it. if you want the authenticscratchexperience go there after a long hike on the at, try to work up a huge hunger, and thirst. on your way there pick up a bottle of wine, or a pack of beer. if you order in you don't need to wait too long, i usually wait about 20 minutes, like any other joint. just chill, jam out, and gulp down some refreshments. the pizza will come out piping hot. this is not a delivery joint, so don't expect there delivery style to be as good. just go there dude!

best bang for you buck. all u want on 16 inch crust for under 20 bucks. very good menu and specials.

love this place!!! if your looking for run of the "meal" pizza this isn't your place, but if your looking for outstanding food, terrific atmosphere, and quirky but awesome staff this is for you!!! you don't just eat atscratchyou experience scratch!! just go in and order the "trust" pizza, sit back and relax to the sounds of vinyl being spun while you await the arrival of your brick oven piece of art!! enjoy!!

scratch brick is raved about for quality and taste. we had some "stopover" friends for florida. we ordered fromscratchbrick through some service they are connected to on the internet. the menu was limited but we did get what all felt inclined to eat. after waiting for over an hour, the delivery came--cold, burnt pizza crust and what was not burnt was soggy. our guests insisted on paying, as we had really bragged about scratch. i think it was the most dissatisfied we've ever been with how a pizza is cooked and delivered. this happened over a year ago and we're still "burnt" from this episode. and, our order was over $50 so not cheap. somebody needs to convince me to try again and perhaps write a more favorable review. we should have called and sent it back but not so easy on a delivery. we were starving.

gotta try it!!!. admittedly i am a pizza snob. so it took me a while to get toscratchto have a pizza. omg i could kick myself for waiting so long. i could have been eating great pizza all this time. the food was fantastic. the service, friendly and polite. the home made meats are something to behold, adding a wonderful flavor to an already outstanding pizza. bravo scratch, you have made a believer out of me.

i cannot stress how amazing this stuff is!. so, i'd heard thatscratchhad the best pizza in jc. i'm not really that into pizza though. then i tried their pizza and... this stuff is amazing. i have dreams about it. this is what pizza is supposed to be like. yum!

can't wait to go back.scratchbrick oven specializes in pizza and artisan bread. i'm not usually so excited about pizza, but this stuff is amazingly good. fresh ingredients, quality dough, and great variety of toppings. i also love the ambience. it's quirky and low-key. i love that they offer interesting alternatives to your average menu- i had orangina with the pizza and chess pie for dessert. you can pick out records to play while you're eating, and the restaurant is byob as well- the even have a fridge to store your drinks.

wow!! check it out asap!. i must say that i was totally surprised by the quality of the pizza at the brick oven. this was probably the freshest and most interesting ingredients that i have ever had on a pizza. this place has an unbelievable list of ingredients that will leave you wanting to try more the next time. i really enjoy their "green curry" based pizza. it is probably the best pizza i have ever partaken in. the atmosphere is extremely laid back and you can byob which can save money if you like to indulge in adult beverages. the brick oven which is located in the back of the structure is what makes everything better. i cannot believe i have not tried this restaurant until now. thescratchbrick oven has made it into my top 5 restaurants in the tri-cities area. if you want a fun laid back experience with great fresh pizza look no further that thescratchbrick oven! try it and you won't regret it! oh yeah the price is extremely reasonable as well.
