unique and very special.  i moved to johnson city from asheville, nc and have been missing the small, entrepreneurial restaurant crowd.  this place has the perfect blend ofatmosphereand delicious pizza.  beautiful brick oven and a provenance of brick oven goodness that would be at home in berkeley.

unique. the food was excellent. my only hangup was that they had no speciality pizzas of their own. theatmospherewas awesome. it was a little pricey, but huge pizzas and they sell em in a box all ready to take home. worth trying.

my first few experiences were great. however, i am afraid this might be one of those (sad) instances where.....a great place goes downhill, until their loyal customers disappear, leaving only a memory of what once was great....simply gone to pot! no pun intended. i usually get my pizza to go (order plenty time ahead as wait time can be ridiculous).atmosphereis more for young adults, too hipster for me. the staff are very laid back and relaxed.... good and bad. if you are in a hurry and they are behind and you ordered an hour before, told 20-30 minute wait (nudge, nudge, cough cough :), they remain laid back & relaxed without offering the slightest bit of empathy. now the pizza! i used to order the "trust" pizza. the pizza artisans used to be pretty reliable. although, i personally believe they're creativity has been stifled. the last two trust's were a small step above mom attempting pizza hut. be adventurous on menu, order plenty ahead and give it a try. maybe they will/have read the reviews and put the brakes on their swirling before they are flushed.

poor. i can recommend any number of good pizza places in johnson city. greg's pizza has been a main stay in the city for several years as well as the pizza of their competitor, rocky's. sim's, luke's, and the mellow mushroom all have great pizza. at scratch you can expect to pay 25 dollars for a mediocre pizza at best. two out of the three times i went here it was awful. not only was the pizza was burnt but the staff was rude and dismissive. the only draw this place has is the environment but you're more likely to find an enjoyableatmosphereelsewhere. as for me i'll not go again.

best pizza in jc. this is easily my favorite pizza place in johnson city, and certainly ranks among my favorites overall (which says a lot coming from someone that has had their fair share of pizza in ny/chicago/italy). the service is not the most prompt, but theatmosphereis relaxing and enjoyable which makes up for it... with quite an eclectic collection of music to choose from too. don't pass up on the curry sauce or the chorizo!

best pizza in the tri. by far the best and freshest pizza i have ever had. be prepared to wait. bring your own beer or drink and relax. theatmosphereis a little scetchy, but the pizza is out of this world. try the trust or limited trust pizza. you wont be disappointed.

wow!! check it out asap!. i must say that i was totally surprised by the quality of the pizza at the brick oven. this was probably the freshest and most interesting ingredients that i have ever had on a pizza. this place has an unbelievable list of ingredients that will leave you wanting to try more the next time. i really enjoy their "green curry" based pizza. it is probably the best pizza i have ever partaken in. theatmosphereis extremely laid back and you can byob which can save money if you like to indulge in adult beverages. the brick oven which is located in the back of the structure is what makes everything better. i cannot believe i have not tried this restaurant until now. the scratch brick oven has made it into my top 5 restaurants in the tri-cities area. if you want a fun laid back experience with great fresh pizza look no further that the scratch brick oven! try it and you won't regret it! oh yeah the price is extremely reasonable as well.

awesome pizza!. stopped by sunday afternoon for our first time. wasn't sure what to expect at first, but one of the girls working there explained how ordering worked, etc. theatmospherewas amazing; you just don't see places like this every day. the pizza was great and the ingredients fresh! we'll definitely be back again!

a real wood fired brick oven. they serve some remarkably good pizza, and they are usually very busy. the brick oven will give you a great "charred bottom" pizza, and the toppings selection is always fresh.

if you have to wait to pick up your pizza, there is usually a pizza for you to have a piece of, on the house. this gives you a chance to try toppings you might not get otherwise. look for the little table to the right of the cash register, across from the phonograph.

the staff is very friendly, and theatmosphereis retro but clean. they also have some great baked desserts, and a few tasty sandwiches. there is a small parking lot, and usually lots of parking on the street.
