this was one of the best dinners we had during our stay in maui! make sure to sit by thesushibar to get the most intimate experience with yoursushichef. ours made oursushiand rolls instantly and was super nice! the rolls andsushiwere both fresh and tasty. id recommend their ahi panko roll. they have really good half prices deals after 10 pm on friday, it made our evening very affordable. also great night to karaoke if you want to sing your heart out!

you might expect asushijoint in hawaii to highlight the local fair but this place certainly did not. thesushiwas good and the tuna was tasty, buy i guess i just thought this place was really generic and unoriginal. for the price and exclusive neighborhood i expected more.

ok, so the food was excessively good. not sure it's legal to be this tasty. recommend the 69 roll, it'll make it to their award winning list of items... which by the way are excellent. sat at thesushibar and the service was crazy good.

great service and incredible sushi. due to previous reviews, we tried the shrimp dynamite and it was no let down! the flavor was amazing with the garlic and the unagi glaze. spicy tuna was what you'd expect, but wasn't overpowering. the red dragon was my moms favorite. it sounded much spicier than it really was., it was smooth with a little kick. the boom boom was my favorite. it had a sweet taste that was unexpected. the pink cadillac was my wife's favorite. it was sweet mixed with masago, shrimp and eel. yellow submarine was almost overpowering with the pickled ginger, but the cucumber and masago tried to calm down the ginger. the kapalua butterfry roll was the let down of the bunch. it was very fishy and needed the sauce and carrots. without it, i wouldn't have been able to eat it!

i would definitely suggest this place as a go to forsushiin maui. best place we ate on vacation.

great japanese food & reasonably priced. had dinner here the other night - great food and really reasonably priced compared with other places in the area. the shrimp dynamite is a must - so delicious!! had the udon pork noodles, wouldn't rate those, but the beef fillet, shrimp dynamite,sushirolls all were great!

one word - yum. :) pricey but for goodsushiit was worth it. servers were a bit inexperienced and unfortunately a few of the rolls came out pre-prepared (not okay in my book for sushi) but very tasty overall. like other reviewers stated they have adult late night happy hoursushi(thursdays and fridays??) where you can get some good deals on their sushi. check them out if you're in town.

delicious sushi, great atmosphere. great sushi, amazing service and great music. reasonable prices for a nice night out in maui. we just ordered one or two things at a time as the night went on and it made for a great experience. definitely one of the best stocked bars i've ever seen at asushiresturant.

start and finish with the sushi. the staff were all friendly, although service was a little slow as they're packed all the time (definitely book in advance!). thesushiis the hero of the day - they have specials they change regularly but everything we ate was delicious. i was a little less impressed with a main of ahi with shrimp cake - it was nice, but the sauce was way too sweet and there was no acidity on the plate at all to cut through it. i would definitely recommend loading up on a heap ofsushithough. oh, and they do 25% off if you order before 6pm, which is pretty awesome.

what can i say. thesushiin maui everywhere is great. this place is tucked into a nice area where the service is great, the patrons are in shorts and t-shirts, and the food is amazing

sansei has turned more non-believers intosushilovers than any othersushirestaurant in maui. d.k. kodama started in a little spot in kapalua that exploded into a beloved, award-winning restaurant. while the original kapalua location has grown, new restaurants in kihei, hawaii island and oahu have made the sansei name synonymous withsushiand is now recognized as one of the nation’s top 10sushirestaurants.

so good, we went twice. we went twice for the 50% off after 10pm deal. you have to make a reso and if you're just two, sit at thesushibar.

now here's the deal: the staff here deal with cheapos that go for the 25% off before 6pm, then they do a crazy dinner service and then they do the karaoke 50% off crowd after 10pm.. so you just gotta understand that and let your waiter know that you're fun and there to relax and have a good time. once our waiter knew that we were the real deal, he was awesome and took his time making sure we ordered the good stuff and had a great time.

also now that gratuity is added to the price of everything automatically on the full price so be aware when tipping but we tipped well because our waiters took care of us.

obviously the food is out of this world so i won't comment on that too much but yeah, the panko crusted ahi roll is worth doubling up on .

best seared tuna i've ever eaten. the rest if the food was just as good.sushiwas fresh and the rolls were interesting and tasty. i'll be eating here twice on this visit and will never miss the restaurant when on maui.

yummy ... and more yummy!. sansei is wonderful ~ i eatsushion a semi-regular basis and have never had anything this good and fresh! the limoncello cheesecake is heavenly, and i imagine the late-night experience is fantastic! you must try this restaurant, especially if you stay at the ritz.
