sansei seafood restaurant & sushi bar

my husband and i both agree that our favorite meal while onmauiwas at sansei. we took our server justin's recommendations and he didn't steer us wrong. i had the delicious butterfish, and my husband had the otoro blue fin tuna sashimi, and he also had the sansei special roll. we ended the meal with the apple tart which was also mouthwatering. it's true this restaurant is more expensive than urbanspoon would have you believe, but it is worth it! don't leavemauiwithout going to this restaurant!

what can i say. the sushi inmauieverywhere is great. this place is tucked into a nice area where the service is great, the patrons are in shorts and t-shirts, and the food is amazing

fantastic food. we had a number of delicious sushi rolls but the arugula, ahi roll with themauionion sauce is amazing. i recommend using the sauce for the rest of the rolls, it's that good. i was skeptical when a dinner partner ordered the seafood pasta but the black beanmauionion sauce made it so much more than your typical seafood pasta. amazing stuff and trudy at the bar is there to help you find something tasty to wash everything down.

best sushi ever!. so first of all i am not a seafood person and have never gone out of my way to eat sushi. but my husband is and has taken me to many places to eat sushi. and i began to adapt a liken to it. so when went tomauimy husband had to try some of their sushi. he looked up this place and read that it got great reviews. we went with some friends and we all ordered different dishes to split. the food was amaazing. it was so fresh and the flavors were delicious. i don't remember all that we ordered. i just remember thinking this is the best sushi i have ever had. i just couldn't get enough and i was very dissapointed when is was all gone. and this is coming from someone who doesn't really enjoy seafood. but to cheer me up we finished off with some tempura fried ice which had vanilla ice cream wrapped with buttery pound cake, rolled in roasted macadamia nuts and it was flash-fried and served with chocolate sauce. yuuuum! the best part about this was that we went at happy hour which made the meal reasonably priced. it was great! also the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. awesome place you must try it out.

sansei seafood restaurant & sushi bar is maui's best-known sushi restaurant. but it has a lot more than sushi, with numerous delicious and innovative foods that have nothing to do with sushi. sanseimauihas two locations, sansei kapalua and sansei kihei . phone 808-669-6286 for the kapalua restaurant or 808-879-0004 for the one in kihei. sansei has won several awards for its outstanding food preparations. taste of lahaina award winning dishes include asian shrimp cake, mango crab salad roll, japanese calamari salad, and dungenous crab ramen with asian truffle broth. the menu has long lists of appetizers, tapas, soups, salads, noodles, veggies, entrees and desserts. see below for some specific sansei menu items as well as photos. sansei usually has early bird discounts, with 25% off most foods ordered from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm. but this can vary, so be sure to call ahead to ask. and the line can be long for those early birds, so arrive well ahead of time to get in line. unreal!. sansei has ruined us for sushi anywhere else! (being from prairies that's not difficult --- but we have eaten our share in vancouver) our server was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. we told him to order whatever he thought was best because we're not fussy. we ended up with a very memorable meal. we had the tuna carpaccio and the tuna shashimi - both amazing. but the piece de resistance was the foie gras sushi - one of the best things i've ever tasted. it almost melted in your mouth and the flavour was intense. i think we might go back tomauijust to eat at sansei again!!

another great job. i believe i wrote a review many moons ago about our experiences at sansei, but felt i needed to reiterate our affinity for this well anchored establishment. we hadn't been tomauifor a couple of years and was happy to see that sansei was still going strong. we dined there twice during our stay, and loved it both times. great sushi.

if this is the best sushi onmauiit's a big shame. with all the fresh produce available you'd expect bright beautiful flavors; this is not the case. i love sushi and have made some great finds on the main land. this isn't even up to par with the last ones on my very long list. the food was on the bland side leaning towards tasteless. my husband and i came here full of hope and were definitely disappointed.

this is the first place my wife and i ate when we arrived inmauiand we couldn't have stumbled upon a better place to begin our perfect vacation. we loved all the sushi but we fell in love with the fresh hawaiian ahi carpaccio! get there before they open for sushi happy hour.
