sammy's gourmet burgers and beer

sammy’s reminded me a lot of flipdaddy’s burgers & beers and not just because of the similar names, though both do have a focus on unique burgers and great craft beers. as much as i have enjoyed flipdaddy’s in the past, i loved sammy’s even more.

i have to cast a dissenting vote here on sammys after a less than good experience there last night

i'll start with what went well. the smell of burgers cooking as i came in from the parking lot was excellent and gave me some high hopes for my meal. smelled like a summer picnic with dad on the charcoal grill. waitress was solidly good, answered my many questions, and allowed me to get half and half on my fries (half garlic, half sweet potato)

everything else went rather badly. for 12.00 i received an overcooked (mw when mr was requested) and fairly dry burger with shredded lettuce (at this price point, i expected a nice piece or two of leaf lettuce) one slice of cheese instead of the two i ordered and paid extra for, and no grilled onions. when i pointed out that there were no grilled onions, a dish of oil-soaked barely cooked (no browning, no charring) onions was brought to me to add . i had asked if the bun was toasted or grilled in the aforementioned many questions, was told it was toasted, but this one wasn't. the fries brought to me on the first try were the wrong kind, and the ones that were brought to me as a correction were cold, old, and lacking anything remotely resembling crispness

i was asked how my experience was on the way out, and was honest about it. i did not expect to be comped, but it is nice to be offered to be comped or at least discounted, and i wasn't.

it is clear to me that this place has the ability to put out much better food than i received, but on this night, that wasn't the case. i won't be returning.

great place. good food. friendly workers. would recommend it to all.

great restaurant. in town foe the week and this restaurant is perfect. walking distance from the hotel and the food makes you want to come back. had a burger one night and the wings the next night. the wings were really good but the burger was the better of the two. in addition to the food, they have a great selection of craft beers. the craft beers are kind of expensive but they have your bud lights and such if you want. it's a great restaurant and i wish i had one where i live

great find! best lamb burger and turkey burger we've ever had.

a little crowded!. great burgers, wings and fries, but noisy and always crowded; best to go on a day suited to dining outside (few and far between in cincinnati) and choose a table on the patio.

not impressed. we had high hopes that this place would live up to its reputation as a great burger place. both off our burgers were so overdone that we had to send them back (ordered them medium rare). catfish burger was definitely the best. also, can't respect a place that tried to pass off flavored mayonnaise as tzatziki sauce

no burger joint! gourmet all the way!. excellent array of gourmet burgers plus+++ atmosphere of a sports bar with a gourmet chef hidden in the back.

the food and craft beers are amazing. love it

we sat and i noticed that they had a nice bar, to watch sports and have a beer. and, a great patio area, to just hang out. if i owned a restaurant, i would want a space like this one. my husband’s been to sammy’s a couple times and he keeps telling me that it’s like red robin. i keep tell

food was good....but the server not so much. the food was pretty good.....but wow the server had to be on something. when i ordered one of the nathan hotdogs she asked me how i wanted it cooked. i asked her since when do hot dogs get cooked at different temperatures? and she looked at me blankley and said oh yeah. my spouse ordered a mushroom burger. when our server brought the food. she brought him a mushroom hotdog. he told her he ordered a mushroom burger. she said that it was a mushroom burger. i said then why is there a hot dog in it? haaaaaaaaaaa wow is all i can say. thank goodness the food tasted pretty good.

good vibe and great burger!. i met up with a friend there recently who was in town for business and staying in blue ash. i didn't know the area, so we happened on sammy's. wow - glad we found it! just what we were looking for - big selection, great beers, and laid back "sports bar/diner" atmophere. perfect for catching up with an old friend.

a must do experience. fabulous menu selections including the best burger in town. large selection of draft, micro brew & bottled beer plus full bar at great prices.

properly cooked; great service. we stumbled upon this place when we were staying at hotel in blue ash. before leaving town we stopped in to grab a bite to eat. let me tell you we were surprised. we ordered two burgers (i can't even remember what kind) but they were cooked exactly to order. so few places know how to cook a burger properly its amazing. we also had an awesome waiter who was helpful in suggesting the bottle caps. man was he right. they were delicious! it's not a low calorie meal by all means but for the first time in a while it was worth every calorie.

horrible service if the restaurant is even remotely busy. last visit, no server came to our table for 20 minutes. we left with no service. second time in a row service was slow to non existent. beware of tables 11 and 12 near bathroom as it often smells of raw sewage. too bad because the food is usually decent.
