s & b's burger joint

hooked with hype ?. couldn't resist a visit to this midtown meca of magnificent burgers any longer.
took the family their for saturday lunch. place is very busy and the staff handles that very well. we were seated after a ten minute wait. our server was nice,efficient and got everything right.
now be prepared as this is a joint geared to the "hipster" 20 something crowd
grunge dress code & ear hoops,nose rings and plenty of ink is encouraged
don't let that scare you away. the people watching is a blast. the burgers are outstanding ! gotta be in my oklahoma top 20 w/o question.
go there, relax,enjoy the vibe & excellent burgers.

fries are great. i love the vast selection of fries that they have!

so i thought the presentation and enviorment was cute. but when i eat or order a burger i expect it to not be on a dinner roll. clearly the meat on the sliders and or burgers are not the full meat patties. i was a little disappointed and had to go somewhere else to eat because i was still hungry after spending 15.00.

so this is my 1st time eating @ this burger joint. it was not busy & took forever like 20minute for 2 slider burgers. 20 minutes for two small sliders. the thunder burger had a lot of flavor in that burger. the so called fatty was a disappointment. it was a cheeseburger with grilled onions & pickles nothing else. $3.25. then i tried the,thunder burger that had a hamburger patty hormel ham , swiss, lettuce, tomatoes, fresh avocados & thunder sauce (a,spicy thousand island). this sauce had my bun super soggy wet. i do not like wet bread. the overall taste was amazing. the burgers are not really that much bigger. of course the sides are separate. b4 i ordered i ask the waiter what was good as in the best burger, he says nothing just say's ”ill give you more time to look @ the menu.” seriously sir! i sat and watch this waiter cater to an outside party that seemed to be his friends. when i was ready to pay i,had to look for my waiter. he appears after 11 minutes of,waiting for my check. total bill $8.13. and im still hungry. the decor was very burger,garage nice. will i be back. yes maybe in the daytime which i hope service is better. i will order a full burger & see if i actually get full the next go round.

friday lunch, bad experience. s&b, i am one of your big fans. your entire 9th st staff needs to go observe the 59th st staff to re-learn how things (everything) should be done. i have always had super food/service at 59th, conversely, seems like something's always a bit off at 9th. friday, my bread was soggy, onions not quite cooked enough, and an unexpected surprise in my burger..i'll leave it at that. my lunch buddy's burger wasn't cooked properly and he received the wrong burger...apparently the recipe for the asian has changed, now they say it's similar to the hot lips houlihan. it used to not be sweet & have wasabi on it. ok, fine. his replacement burger came out fairly quickly but still wasnt correct. i had told the waitress we were on business lunch & needed to hurry. it seemed difficult to get help from anyone. a different waitress finally picked up our trash & assured me our checks were on the way. as our waitress seemed to be giving plenty of attention to the table next to us, i tried to get her attention with no success. we laid our credit cards on the table, yet nobody seemed to notice. finally i caught her eye & she was like " oh, are you ready for your check?" seriously? total time wasted for lunch: 1.5hrs. the food & service were totally not worth it. i will still be a loyal fan of 59th st but i think we're done with 9th st. sorry. oh, several other people seemed upset too, including the two ladies & a boy next to us who must have waited at least 45 min before getting their to-go order.

decent overpriced burgers and $2.50 for a pathetic order of french fries. maybe 15 fries. over $10 without a soda. too many other options for better burgers for less money. and burgers are too small.

love their new blue burger. ok, it's gonna be busy and noisy and slower than mcdonalds but what did you expect

great service and delicious food every time i've been here and the gm ally is great!!! try the columbian or smokin okie! and don't forget to get a bacon infused vodka bloody mary.

the fall?. we used to love s&b but as it has gotten more popular, the staff has gotten more impatient and the food quality has really fallen off. we tried "the new blue" last night and it was nearly inedible; the bacon wrapped around the patty was completely burned and there wasn't a hint of blue cheese "stuffed inside the meat." we also tried the "texan," and it was really bland, maybe that was the point. the sides come in very small portions and the meat is never anything to write home about. sad to say it, but it will be some time before we come back.

too soon to start going downhill!. i don't know if s&b's has grown too quickly or if the staff is just not getting trained.... or if management just doesn't care about service. we like the burger combinations and other clever menu items, but if we can always expect poor service and incorrect orders (after we have had to ask someone to take our order at all!), then it's just not worth it.
i'll wait awhile and try one more time, just in case these problems are from growing pains.........but if it's like my last 3 visits, i'll know to avoid!

frozen fries ans rainbow buns...i could make a better burger at home!

sorely lacking in both quality of food and service.
portion size was absolutely minimal and burger was pitiful.
but the most irritating aspect was the service, at the time there were only two other tables of guests, it took 45 minutes for our order of two burgers and 1 fry to make it to the table, the wait staff thought it more important to chat with each other or play on their phones than refill empty glasses.
so, if u dig ironic tattoos, bad covers of good music and jeans that are way too tight, and subpar fare, than by all means, drop in.
if, on the other hand, u want quality food, then i suggest you go elsewhere.

confused layout, disorganized staff.. when you walk in you hit a seating station that is not manned and is placed in amongst the diners...you are standing in someones personal space at all times. i couldnt identify a server from a manager or a customer, everyone is dressed like a scruffy customer. the wait staff were loitering around giving weird looks to the confused customersas they walked in but the hostess was off flirting with some tattooed guy at the bar. our server was fine but the kitchen was slow and we ate our fries before we recieved one slider but had to ask the server who asked the manager to get the other order. the sliders were good but greasy...which is actually what sliders are... so no worries.
the beer selection is incredible and there are some awesome beers. their staff just seems really slow and disinterested.

my first bite was of the elvis. the peanut butter was almost melted, so it created a nice condiment rather than being a big blob which is what i imagined in my mind. it was quite tasty. the colombian was really good. i especially liked the cilantro salsa. next up were the thanksgiving fries. for those of you that know me well, i have a sweet tooth. and these hit the spot!

love this place!! great food. great service from joel at the bar. definitely coming back!

the caesar burger is awesome!! great great service. fun atmosphere.
consistent at all locations. eclectic & energizing. really good people. really good food !!!!
