rockpool bar & grill

booked a table for 4 people. restaurant looked really good and well maintained. first issue is, the aircon was literally off and it was real uncomfortable for us to stay and enjoy our food. the fish we ordered was super dry with no flavour and salt. pumpkin (sides) was delicious and we enjoyed it.
the next issue is that, we got overcharged more than our bill, when we asked for it they mentioned that it was a mistake and they will process the refund to my visa card after 48 hours (which is a bit not cool). we probably wouldn’t go back there again.

today i was looking forward to a great lunch and dessert at rockpool bar and grill.
to my disappointment i ordered the wagyu burger medium well and it was served the same as my friend who requested medium rare. the burgers were cold too! the shoestring fries came out cold and i asked for another bowl of fries! the fries are hard to eat as they are not thin, straight-cut fries that used to be served, they are curly and dry! be aware the rueben sandwich is not your typical american style, it is equivalent to the aussies cheese toastie!
unfortunately, the customer service was absent today, whereby i did not bother rectifying the issue with the burger. the staff did not seem to care or love what they were doing. 
after we ate our meals they removed our plates and left us sitting there for 30min without asking if we wanted dessert, so we then got someone's attention and finally we asked for the bill. i have been to the bar and restaurant many times, however after today's experience i will not be going back anytime soon and will ensure others know what to expect.

wow. what a place to dine! the menu here is so extensive that it's makes choosing difficult. but what makes things much easier is knowing that whatever you end up ordering will be fantastic. i have always said that i would rather pay more for a great meal than pay peanuts and get monkey food. nothing is more frustrating than a food let down and i know that i'll be back here for a guaranteed good feed, good wine, good ambiance and good service. highly recommended.

absolutely beautiful restaurant and staff were friendly. had the beef tartare for entree, it was amazing and had so much flavour. the rib eye was cooked perfectly and so tender with the most perfect bearnaise sauce, so creamy. also added a side of waygu fat potatoes which were cooked well. the prawn and goats cheese tortellini was spectacular, so creamy and soft and just perfect mouthfuls. definitely would visit again next time i am in sydney.

celebrated my first anniversary with my boyfriend here and we had the best time and dinner! the restaurant itself is perfectly suited for a romantic evening because of its sense of prestige and grandeur. the service was very lovely and friendly. a bit difficult to flag down but once attended to us, they were very helpful. started off with the soda and shrub drinks. the mango was nice and the strawberry was unique. then moved onto two wagyu steaks - the denver was one of the most beautiful steaks i have ever had. it was tender, beefy and melted perfectly in my mouth. the eye chuck was fantastic as well but didn't stand a chance in comparison to the denver. our sides of the wagyu fat potatoes + radicchio, cos and endive salad were great. only let down was the mac and cheese which was heavy and too sharp for my taste. for dessert i chose a passionfruit pavlova which was so nice and fluffy but a bit plain. to end the night, rockpool surprised us both with a chocolate cupcake & candle which was so cute! had a fantastic experience here and i highly recommend rockpool!

medium-rare steaks, novel-length wine lists and an incredible lime and coconut sorbet all under one soaring, green marbled roof. 

despite the grandeur of the surroundings, i was surprised by the extensive yet uncomplicated menu, which clearly highlights that this is first and foremost a steakhouse. sure, there’s caviar with crème fraîche and a $320 wagyu rib eye on the bone, but on the other hand — mac and cheese, mushy peas and lamb chops with mint jelly.

we had a christmas celebration dinner at rockpool tonight and it was a great experience! we ordered quite a few dishes and left more than satisfied.

we ordered:

1. yellowfin tuna tartare, moroccan eggplant, cumin mayonnaise and harissa

this was fantastic, perfect balance of acidity and richness from the tuna. the flavour was perfectly calculated. highly recommend.

2. woodfire grilled bone marrow with milanese crust and herb salad

a popular choices ordered by many tables. the marrow was on point and it was a pleasure to eat with accompanying crusty bread.

3. veal shin ragu with hand cut pappardelle and pecorino

the pasta was incredibly fresh and just the right texture and thickness. however the tomato based ragu sauce was a bit bland.

4. free range chicken with heirloom carrots and tarragon

this dish was a bit of a let down. the chicken meat was tasteless and the base sauce that came with the chicken failed to lift the flavour. the chicken skin however was wonderfully thin & crispy, full of flavour.

5. ranger valley dry aged 300 day grain fed rib eye on the bone 550g 39 days

super super tender, and it was portioned when it arrived at the table which was a lovely touch. we ordered medium rare, however the meat was slightly on the blue side. but perhaps that’s how you can better appreciate the meat. it would’ve been better if the fat was more rendered as mouth of fat was not pleasant on what otherwise a great piece of steak.

6. potato purée

hands down best potato mash in the history of mash.

7. mixed sautéed mushroom

this was such a surprised treasure. i have read comments that it’s on the saltier side, i found it perfectly seasoned.

cocktails:
1. bellini - pleasant
2. on the cairns - not a fan
3. tiki punch - very nice

the service was very attentive and polite. we were seated at the private function area, it was nice and quiet, less chaotic than the main dining hall. a great atmosphere for conversation and catch-up. lucky us!

the staff was very professional and we were very well looked after!

must order: 4 diff kind sashimi, wagyu steak (medium rare), and bread pudding with super good fla.

recently dined at rockpool bar & grill, i ordered cape grim dry aged 36 months old grass fed cooked medium rare, and it was one of the best steaks i’ve had lately. they have amazing cocktails and a good range of wine.

had a good experience with my friend. we ordered medium rare wagyu fillet which is really juicy and tasty. really loved my experience here and will definitely return.

the ambiance and service was amazing, however 2 of the dishes we ordered were unavailable. also when we booked we were unaware that it was only 2 hour window so we were rushed and left without desert which were so looking forward to as it was a special occasion we were celebrating.
i had being there years ago and had an awesome relaxed long meal so obviously have changed, would not recommend or go back.

a quite cozy restaurant with great atmosphere and good service which is nice for dating. their beef ribs were tender and juicy and they also offered sauces. we picked two of those, the bbq sauce was a bit spicy but good for appetizing and balancing the taste while the other one was quite salty and different and seemed like having cheeses in the sauce. from my perspective i’d rather recommend the bbq one. we had two kinds of beefs, cape grin dry aged rib eye and fillet, both of them were excellent, the fillet was more tender and the rib eye was much more savory with a wonderful aroma. the pavlova was a great ending for the dinner and i like it as well. despite of the price it took, the experience was amazing.

really underwhelming.. i think the steaks were chewy and quite bland. i could get better for cheaper. even the sides weren’t a stand out and i was really looking forward to the mac & cheese. my partner and i ordered both our steaks medium rare, however my bfs steak came out red rare inside so we had to send it back to the kitchen. staff was apologetic and nice though. i’ve been to the rock pool in melbourne too and was told sydney’s would be better ... sadly not.

this place reminds of old days . amazing environment amazing food and amazing environment. a very staff with excellent cooking skills😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

a old restaurant in an old building. you will see the chef cook the steak in the open kitchen with charcoal fire grill. smell the fire and some chick and steak, it is delectable. the size is really big, don’t order too much.
