what a joke. worststeaki've eva had. ask'd for medium came out rare, chewy as rubber and way over priced. massive let down

rockpool is a mix of well priced sides, high end steaks and professional yet friendly service. we all have to treat ourselves sometimes and what better way than with a $115 steak. was it worth it? in a word yes. cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth, without leaving a fatty aftertaste that some cheaper steaks tend to do. thissteakdoes prove it’s worth the price for a higher quality beef and although a premium will be paid, we should all be looking to spend more on local, sustainable meat where possible. it’s not all about the carnivores however as the sides and salads were some of the best parts of our meal. the tomato and bread salad may look and sound simple but wow did it taste amazing. the onion rings are thick and delicious without being greasy and the mushy peas were just right with a perfectly cooked egg on top. at $24 the single egg yolk ravioli appears very basic at first but once our resident vegetarian connoisseur cut i

definately a must do for any sydney sider. wow was my reaction walking into the rockpool bar & grill, situated in a beautifully designed art-deco building you cant help but feel your eating in the most lavish restaurant in gotham or the bank in harry potter it truly is something else.
now im not lying when i say i had the beststeakof my life here, im talking eyes closed, moaning the whole "shibang" and it wasn't even the most expensive one. i started with the king prawns which were delish and ended with the mouse which once again was outrageously good.
the service complemented the food and building, the waiters were colour coded so u picked up pretty fast who was good for what, and they came in at the perfect moments, never interupting and always friendly. i wasnt waiting around or trying to get anyones attention the team was on the ball.
ive fined dined in a few establishments around town "quay" being one of them but i have to say rockpool bar and grill takes the cake.

fallen in love. had an awesome dining experience at rockpool sydney. the service was great, our waitress "mina" was so friendly and helpful that she added to making our night pleasant. i ordered the pumpkin ravioli with sage and burnt butter followed by thesteakand a couple of sides and even though i was about to explode from having eaten so much, i had to tase a dessert so finished off my meal with lemon curd doughnuts and a peppermint tea to help me digest!!!
added to my excitment was the fact kerry anne kennerly was sitting on the table next to ours.
the food, service, ambience and energy was all positive in this restaurant. cant wait to try melbourne's rockpool next!!!

from the exterior to interior it felt as if i was in a classic american movie. staff were all dressed in white suits matching the theme. the high ceiling and large floor space diffused chatter of neighbouring diners. service quality was exceptional by any standards and i cannot be anymore satisfied.

for starters, both the fig with stracciatella and beef tartare were superb dishes, perfect balance of flavours and textures. suddenly, the main course were all served at the same time. wagyu pappardelle was one of my favourites, fresh pasta was tender yet had a springy texture, it had a wonderful mild and warm wagyu ragu to match. horseradish with the cape grim 36month grass fed rib eyesteakwas a match made in heaven. mixed mushrooms and brussel sprout with speck sides were far too salty. i walked in with a frown but left smiling, what more can i ask.

worth the splurge!. three female diners celebrated combined birthdays with a dinner here last night. we were very happy with our choice.service, wine and food combined to make the evening a resounding success! after cocktails at spice temple where the bar was less crowded than rockpool bar, we enjoyed our meal in the restrained elegance of the art deco dining room.
we were feeling in the mood for a hearty traditional meal rather than any experimentation. loved the filletsteakcooked to perfection with the delicious bernaise sauce, crispy baked potatoes and the winter greens. we took the advice of the sommelier and enjoyed a very pleasant french red at $60 a bottle.
always good to feel that the evening came up to expectations!

memorable anniversary. when my partner and i booked at rock pool bar & grill for our anniversary we didn't expect to get probably one of the best tables in the restaurant. i ordered asteakas so did my partner and it was cooked to perfection. everything about our experience was amazing, including the service, ambience food and wine.

nice evening in a beautiful setting. it's amazing to see how far rockpool has come since opening this bar and grill years ago. service doesn't seem as refined as it used to be. which is a shame as i always felt sharp service was the basis of their reputation. they are selective in acknowledging special occasions as they acknowledged the birthday next to us but not for our table although they even acknowledged it at reconfirmation. its hard to justify the meal as at bridgeroom the food is more exciting and the service is far better, for less you can have an exciting meal at lumi or a bettersteakat firedoor. it was a nice night with nothing to wow about the day after. nothing bad at all but if you have been here numerous times in the past, there is a little pain in your heart as you realise that service execution is no longer a focal point of one of our biggest brands in upscale dining.

rockpool is rumored to have the “beststeakin sydney and possibly even australia”, which is what sold me to trying it out. it definitely lived up to my expectations, everything on the menu sounded absolutely delicious and i wanted to order everything. so naturally we over ordered as a result. the steaks were cooked to perfection and were the perfect combination of juicy and tender (medium rare ofc!). the mushrooms were also scrumptious. however i do notice that the food is seasoned a bit on the saltier side for me, from thesteaktartare to even the mushrooms. i would highly recommend to come here for the steaks!

global hq it is. superb dining room, a menu where you want everything you read. you can't beat the rib eye off the grill here (is there a bettersteakin sydney cbd?). just don't look at the prices. service this time a bit off the mark.

tuna tartare: 9.5/10 - one of the best, if not the best tartare we’ve ever had. literally melts in your mouth! if you’re a fan of eggplant too, then you’ll definitely love this dish because the eggplant just adds another bonus to the flavours and textures of the dish. (only reason it didn’t get a 10 is portion size)

denver: 8/10 - i’m not usually asteakfan, but i was very impressed with this cut! definitely the best piece ofsteaki’ve ever had. so tender, juicy, non chewy whatsoever (which is usually what i experience with everysteaki’ve had). so if you’re unsure of what to order & you’re also not a massive steak/meat fan, try the denver.

mac & cheese: 8/10 - i’m also usually not a mac & cheese fan but this was actually impressive. not too cheesy, or thick or sickening (which i know is what most mac & cheese fans look for in the dish, but not me sorry). i loved the saltiness from the dish which a lot of places lack. you definitely need that saltiness to cut from the richness of the cheese.

rib eye: 6/10 - not a fan. before coming to this restaurant, i did hours & hours of research and reading of reviews, and the most surprising thing i learnt is that most people love the rib eye cut. it’s one of the most popular cuts to be ordered here. but i was pretty disappointed. not sure if it was the fact that oursteakwas a little undercooked, we asked for medium rare and it came out pretty much rare. or maybe it’s just not our preference in steak. it was super chewy, way too textured, too fatty (& i’m an advocate for fat, but this fat was chewy as hell).

passionfruit pavlova: 6.5/10 - too sweet. texture was great though, super fluffy, super light but the sweetness just made it really heavy to eat. also, we over ordered so it didn’t help that we were going to blow up any second 😅
if you’re wanting to order a dessert, please try their cupcake dessert!!! tbh i don’t know what it’s called but we got a free cupcake because it was my partner’s birthday but i asked the lady and she said they serve it. it was the best cupcake we’ve ever had wow!!

last thing to add: we ordered their fries/chips on the side and that was tasty too, crispy thick cut chips.

i really enjoyed thesteakat rockpool! they definitely have some premium cuts of meat and a great wine selection. it is a bit on the pricier end so that would be the only downside, however it’s a great place to splurge for a special occasion!

overall an amazing experience. atmosphere was a delight in our usual balcony seat. staff also excellent.

we started with the tuna tartare and woodfire grilled baby octopus. both these were rich in flavour and perfect on the palate. the fried calamari was nice, however, was a bit dry and lacked a sufficient condiment.

for main, we had the rumpsteakand goat cheese tortellini with pumpkin & sweet potato and mixed greens as sides.
the rump was cooked to perfection and could not have gone down better. we were quite disappointed however in the portion and price of what we thought was a main pasta. 6 tortellinis and 2 prawns for $39. need i say more?

lastly, the warm rhubard pudding with vanilla sauce was so good, we forgot to take a photo of it.

overall, still one of our favourite places to go to.

been here last year on my vacay , the last day before i'm going back to indonesia. me and my family went for dinner, we just used casual t-shirt though everyone else wearing a suit and formal outfit 😂😂.
the restaurant really did give us an unforgettable experience, especially thesteak😍😍😍😍 , i'd recommend to all of tourist if u came to aussie u should try this restaurant. the price fair enough to what we were havin for dinner. will coming back for sure next time !
