rockpool bar & grill

bottom line: i've never been to the restaurant, but i'm not sure i ever will knowing you can get the best burger in sydney straight from the bar. last night mckay and i went down to the opera house to check out vivid sydney - a pretty awesome light show takingplacefor a short while. i recommend it to anyone if you are in the area for the next week or so - it's beautiful. after the show we decided, with no reservations made, to try to check out rockpool bar & grill. typically in san francisco, even getting a seat at the bar for dinner at a popular restaurant can be tough, so we came prepared to wait, but were happily surprised that we were immediately seated at a table in the bar area. we'd heard that rockpool's claim to fame was the wagyu burger, and sure enough - the tables on either side of us had ordered two wagyu burgers and chips. we followed suit and were not disappointed. i couldn't put my finger on what exactly made this burger so amazing. the meat was perfectly cooked and fl

for our final saturday night in sydney, ojan and i decided to finally re-visit rockpool bar & grill. we went the first time during our first visit to sydney, and i have a vague memory of sitting in the bar eating a burger, but i don't recall much else. it clearly didn't leave an impression. so why return? well, rockpool bar & grill is one of chef neil perry's places in sydney, and i rather adore his food, even when it is served at the qantas first class lounge in the airport. neil perry's "flagship" establishment is rockpool, where only a 4 course $150 or 8 course $185 menu are served. theplacesounds fantastic, has been three hats by the good food guide for years, but, we weren't up for such an extended (and pricey) meal.

are pretty much guaranteed to get amazing food when you come here. the venue is great because, even though there are heaps and  heaps  of tables (there’s even a secret upstairs balcony you can dine on!) it still retains a hushed sense of dignity and you don’t feel like you’re eating with the crowds. the service is impeccable – rarely have i seen such great service in sydney. best to book here though, even on a monday night thisplacewas packed with (what i presume to be) the usual crowd of post-work revellers. what we ate: the mother, ds and i shared two entrees to start off with. their portions are really generous; another refre

i'm pleased that i made it to rockpool. the bar is a swish, if slightly expensive,placefor lunch. but it pays to treat yourself every once in a while.

i honestly wasn’t sure what i was expecting tbh. i was really looking forward to trying thisplacebut literally everything that came out was a disappointment. v overrated and v basic. i make better mac and cheese than that, i make better pasta i make better scallops and i’m not even a good cook. will i come back? prob not.

i really enjoyed the steak at rockpool! they definitely have some premium cuts of meat and a great wine selection. it is a bit on the pricier end so that would be the only downside, however it’s a greatplaceto splurge for a special occasion!

the food was great, but theplacewhere we were seated near the bar adjacent to the accessible exit was very dark even to read the menu.
no such a great thing, even if one's to maintain a certain ambience.

service was amazing. food came out fast, was fresh and tasted amazing. the second time i’ve been here and would come back again for the great quality service and food. the staff were very polite as they catered for our needs. was celebrating my partners birthday and they were aware of this so they had a little surprise at the end of the meal and gave us a delicious cupcake to celebrate. would recommend thisplaceto anyone.

the service was amazing. i really happy celebrate my birthday in here cause of the service. i got small cake from the restaurant and i was so happy. the food was good. i order the t-bone and i order well done but its hard because in other restaurant well done will be not hard. theplacewas nice. i enjoy it so much. the beef tartare was nice as well.

wow. what aplaceto dine! the menu here is so extensive that it's makes choosing difficult. but what makes things much easier is knowing that whatever you end up ordering will be fantastic. i have always said that i would rather pay more for a great meal than pay peanuts and get monkey food. nothing is more frustrating than a food let down and i know that i'll be back here for a guaranteed good feed, good wine, good ambiance and good service. highly recommended.

a truly five star experience. and that was just eating in the bar! the food was spectacular. way above any ordinary bar food. we had the wagyu beef salad minus the avocado, the burger, and fries. we started the night with three different types of magnificent oysters and enjoyed fabulous pre dinner cocktails. i had the spicy margarita which was outstanding. also had a taste of the dry classic martini. so good. ended the night with some apertifs. the service was so professional all night. all their suggestions were perfect. the bartenders really know their drinks. the waiters really know their food. thisplaceis top notch in every way.

i went to thisplacelast weekend. i was so excited at the start since i heard nice things about thisplaceand its the first time i've been in here. in all honesty, theplaceis nice and at the start, the service was good and polite. then we started ordering food including a child menu (which according to one of the staff, its not in the menu but they can do whatever we wanted). one of the problem i face is that, one staff said something else, while the other say different thing regarding kids menu. conflicting! great! then comes the time to order, we ordered 3 sides but hey, only 2 came out. upon asking the staff about the third side, apparently the staff who took the order "thought" we wanted 2 sides. hey, why should you "guess" and "thought"?!!? we are sitting there, we are alive and we are not dead. come and ask us. don't guess! and without apologizing that its his fault that he "guessed", he rushed off to add that third sides instead of asking us if we still wanted it (and its not even complementary - but we got charge for it). how is that a good service? there is nothing wrong in saying sorry! i would have appreciate that more than just adding it to our bill without even asking us! and oh, adding to this bad experience, at the end, they don't even warn me that there is a surcharge on a credit card. even a smallest restaurant in my neighbourhood warn me about surcharge! look, maybe majority of your customer does not care about this surcharge, but i do! i am sorry rockpool, you gave me this type of experience on my first visit. i am quite disappointed. i expected better from you!

hands down bestplaceto eat in sydney! excellent selections of various cuisines. food was cooked to perfection and just worked well with suggested drinks and complemented everything as one. service was top notch, not pushy and knowledge and understanding of the menu was outstanding.
expensive but well worth the price for the quality of meal and service that you receive. highly recommend!
