rockpool bar & grill

came here couple of times. every time is just amazing. food is perfect, waitress are great.

but tonight 25/01/2020, the asian lady at the receptionist is just off. came in without reservation. showing her bitter face, no greeting, like we are not welcome.
we are fine to sit at the bar, but she show no interest to lead us the way to our seat and and again showing her very bitter face and then we couldn’t take it just walk away. if you’re not happy, don’t put in on the guest.
we really love rockpool but this shouldn’t be happening.

what a beautiful building with high ceiling! our friend was in need of béarnaise sauce, was surprisingly difficult to find one that was open on a sunday. luckily rockpool came to our rescue.
highlight: beautiful restaurant, perfect béarnaise sauce, good wine pairing recommendations. and of course attentive service. lowlight: a great restaurant but i’m not sure if anything was a super stand out.

my favourite place, lamb is always amazing. only thing is it’s so damn loud in there. love the melbourne rockpool as well.

i hadn’t been to rockpool bar & grill for a few years. i think it was 2016. and i am glad i returned today. the service is impeccable and the food was as delicious as i had remembered. rather than a steak i chose the king george whiting (pictured) which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. the other highlight for me was the custard & date tart (pictured). just luscious.

it’s definitely one of my favourite buildings - an art deco lovers paradise and i will definitely not be waiting 3 years to return again. #rockpoolbarandgrill

food was amazing, exceeded all expectations! started with the sydney rock oysters, followed by the tortellini, which was rich and incredible. the eye of chuck was delicious, all serving sizes were perfect. would highly recommend.

possibly the most tasteless expensive steak i have ever been served.
hard to comprehend how they achieved it.
shame as starter was good and service was good.

went here for my birthday and the staff were so sweet to surprise me with a birthday cupcake which was a really nice touch to finish off what was a delicious meal. the brisket was so juicy and full of flavour and the ravioli was so lovely (although not the most economical choice)

i was coming to rockpool with high expectations as i’ve been here twice before and the hospitality that was provided was amazing. however, this was not the case this time as upon entry we waited to be welcomed to our table only for a couple that had come in after us to be greeted and had the coats taken first. we had to take the initiative to reach out to the staff for them to recognise we were even there. this is quite unfitting for a fine dining restaurant.

we had a booking at 8:45 only to be seated half an hour later, with no acknowledgement or apology for such delay. we were told by a staff member, prior, to wait 5 mins as our table was being prepared - only to see that there was a still a full party of 5 still seated finishing up the dining experience. it would have been better to be transparent by letting us know that they’re running behind schedule.

besides a lack of customer service, the food was great and cannot be faulted. the tuna tartare is definitely a winner entree if you’re looking for a light entree to start. i do recommend ordering medium instead of medium rare as i find that their medium rare is far too rare than your average.

the food was great, but the place where we were seated near the bar adjacent to the accessible exit was very dark even to read the menu.
no such a great thing, even if one's to maintain a certain ambience.

food - at the restaurant can't go wrong with the steaks. quality is amazing but is reflected in the price, also comes with no sides. large wine selection. at the bar area, the signiture wagyu burger is a go to.

price - >$70 for restaurant, around $40 at bar

i dined here on a friday night with a friend. we were warmly greeted and offered water and bread once we were seated at the table. for starters we had the clyde and shoalhaven oysters ($5.50 each) served fresh with a drizzle of a vinegar based sauce and lemon. i preferred the shoalhaven ones which had a fresher taste as opposed to a more salty ocean taste like the clyde ones. my other starter was the tuna tartare with moroccon eggplant ($39). the portion was quite generous with tuna and there was so much flavour on the plate, i couldn't fault it. we also had the lobster ($180) which was so rich with flavour, buttery and everything you would want with a lobster. for the main we shared the cape grim 36 month aged rib eye on the bone ($68) with a side of creamed corn with chilli ($16). the steak was cooked perfectly, melted in the mouth and didn't need any condiments. the corn worked as a fabulous side dish as we were already getting quite full from the entrees and so wanted a lighter accompaniment than potatoes. for the dessert we had the strawberry and rhubarb pudding with vanilla sauce ($26) which was baked to order, light, fluffy and filled with gorgeous rhubarb and strawberry in the centre to balance out the sweetness. we had a fantastic selection of wines to accompany the meal and would like to personally thank our soms justin and michele for their excellent service on the night. i will be returning again with my family for the next special occasion.

service was amazing. food came out fast, was fresh and tasted amazing. the second time i’ve been here and would come back again for the great quality service and food. the staff were very polite as they catered for our needs. was celebrating my partners birthday and they were aware of this so they had a little surprise at the end of the meal and gave us a delicious cupcake to celebrate. would recommend this place to anyone.

the service was amazing. i really happy celebrate my birthday in here cause of the service. i got small cake from the restaurant and i was so happy. the food was good. i order the t-bone and i order well done but its hard because in other restaurant well done will be not hard. the place was nice. i enjoy it so much. the beef tartare was nice as well.

rockpool bar & grill was always a restaurant i’ve been meaning to visit but never really got around to. we came here for a friend’s birthday and as expected, the service and atmosphere was excellent! the food on the other hand, was overall pretty good but wasn’t mesmerising to any of us. the highlight dish of the night was probably the goats cheese tortellini, eaten along with the prawns provided a nice texture and flavour.
