beststeakhousein the okc area. my first time here was when i moved here from california 6 years ago. came for valentines dinner and the food and atmosphere was wonderful!
just recently celebrated my husband's birthday here and the service was top notch! everything on the menu is prepared well and in good serving sizes. the steaks are amazing. i had the 7oz kobe steak and my mouth is still tingling from how tender and perfect it was.
check out the mac and cheese..you can't go wrong with this steakhouse!

the beststeakhousein okc. it's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. i've tried a variety of appetizers, salads, steaks, seafood dishes, and sides over the years and it's always consistent and tastes wonderful. the atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed and the staff knows their menu and service.

let's get down to brass tacks: this is the beststeakhousein town.  it may be the best ambiance in town too. wonderful decor, pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and a bar area that is upscale, but quiet and relaxed.

so often in oklahoma city the story with steak houses goes something like this: "i just paid $80 dollars for a $20 steak! wth?!" not so here. oh you will pay 50 or $65. but it will be worth it. 100% usda certified prime tenderloins. and it is the details that matter. that 400 degree plate comes out, and will keep that steak at the right temperature for 30 minutes while i savor every bite.

the sides come ala carte, and while they are tasty, they come family style (for 4), so you really need to come to a consensus on what you want. if not, i suggest getting the sampler which has 3 choices and is portioned for 2. the mac and cheese was good, as were the sweet potatoes.

there is also some lovely outdoor seating, although at this time of year maybe not so much.

i strongly suggest making a reservation.

i get the sense this is place is unwilling to overcook good quality beef and i take that as a good thing. everyone's steak order at our table was cooked slightly less than what they had ordered. it is apparent that these folks don't like to char the product they take great pride in. reservations are a must. service is pretty fantastic in the dimly lit dining hall. the food is completely worth the money but i like to see something a little more over the top and asteakhousewhich suggests it's pushing the limit.

some good, some bad. had a friend's birthday dinner on 2/18/2014. service was great. while the steaks are served sizzling and cook some on the plate, my med well and her well done were both under-cooked. did not send back thinking they'd cook more on the plate. my sweet potato was hard as a rock - sent back - manager brought back nuked some and comp'ed it, but still too tough. her asparagus was hardly cooked at all and hard. her au gratin potatoes were not thoroughly cooked either. did not send either back. while the decor of this place is lovely, even on a tuesday night after president's day (when i figured it would be pretty dead), while sitting at a back booth, the noise levels were deafening. both of us had to yell across the table. very unexpected. so overall, while the staff were very accomodating, the experience was sub-par even compared to a reasonablesteakhouselike longhorn. my advice for an up-scale steak place includes mickey mantle's downtown, and not really any more expensive (actually less).

very straightforward restaurant. this is asteakhouseand their meats are prepared above reproach. sides are typical and good, though not exciting. prices are fairly high, but if you want the best bite of steak in okc, this is probably it.

everything was very good!. wife and i went here recently to celebrate our 1 yr wedding anniversary. we've heard great things about the ranch, and we like to eat at a nicesteakhouseevery once in a while. the atmosphere was nice, had a sort of western type theme. it felt intimate, and the restaurant was dimly lit. started out with a couple of salads. wife had the seasonal date & goat cheese salad and really liked it. i had the pear & spiced pecan salad, and i loved it. it had a spicy vinaigrette, which was different, but i really enjoy spicy foods. we were not super hungry, so we split the bone-in ribeye, which was cooked perfectly. the steak was tender, and it had a lot of flavor. we did not choose to add any toppings or sauces, and i am glad we didn't. would've probably ruined the great tasting steak. it's not my favorite steak in the world, but the best so far that i've had in okc. favoritesteakhouseis probably a tie between ruth's chris and vic & anthony's. we also got the side sampler, which we got creamed corn, spinach&mushrooms, and mac & cheese w/ green chiles. all three were really good. however, i feel like the mac & cheese would've been very average if not for the green chiles. i also felt the side sampler portions were slightly small for the price, but we were very full nonetheless. for dessert, we got dulce de leche, and it was delicious. it was also complimentary, as it was our anniversary. only been in okc for several months now, and have eaten at only one other nicesteakhouse(red prime). i felt the ranch was much better quality food.

great for special night out. love the ranch...i think they have the best steaks in okc. if you want asteakhouseand focus solely on beef-go here. i have stuck with the bone-in "cowboy" ribeye the last several times i've been and i have not been disappointed. it could easily be split between two people but for some reason i try to take it down myself. my insides don't appreciate it but so worth it.
the place is expensive but it's worth it for a special night out. the smell of the brown butter sauce eminates throughout the restaurant and just gets your tastebuds watering.

highly recommend.

favorite restaurant in okc? maybe!. i have been to the ranchsteakhousea total of about 5x. a few times i have gone with my husband and a few with friends, and i have never gotten bad food or service here.

recently, last wednesday my husband and i went on a double date with our friends (another couple) and had a wonderful evening. i made reservations at 8:30pm and requested a booth and that's what we got!

anyways.. onto the food! i had the 7oz filet mignon cooked medium rare and a baked sweet potato with brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter. my filet was cooked perfectly! make sure to order one level down from what your liking is, because the steaks come on a 360 degree hot plate. mines was cooked rare when i first got it, but it kept cooking on the plate and then became medium rare which was perfectly fine with me. the baked sweet potato was huge! but, i loved it so much that i was happy to get a large portion. the sides average around 8 dollars a la carte, but they give you family sized portions. i honestly think i liked the sweet potato more than my filet even though the filet was the best steak i had ever had! if you order the filet mignon you won't need a steak knife, just a butter knife! it's that melt in your mouth tender! but, enough with my food..

my husband had the 14oz ribeye as usual medium rare and a side of sauteed mushrooms. his ribeye was amazing but the mushrooms were nothing special just salted button mushrooms thrown around in a pan, that's all.. our friends had the beef medallions and the duck also cooked medium rare, and they seemed to love their entrees as well since everyone pretty much finished their plates if not cleaned it completely.

for dessert we all shared the dulce dulce de leche ice cream pie which was caramel ice cream, chocolate ganache, toasted marshmallows, on a graham cracker crust, it was heaven! we also had the carnegie deli cheesecake from ny with lemon curd and blueberry compote. the lemon curd was absolutely divine!

the service was extremely friendly as usual and our server was very knowledgeable and polite, but ridiculously slow. it wasn't a big deal though since our food came out tasting more than delicious. however, he did manage to accidently put one of my friends food items on our tab, but it wasn't anything to cry about, just wouldn't expect any mistakes happening at a restaurant of this caliber. i'd expect simple mistakes like this at a cheesecake factory, but not at the ranch but then again.. we all make mistakes, lol!

overall, everyone had a great evening and we will definitely come back! the ranchsteakhouseis the beststeakhousein okc!

i just do not think it was worth it. i was really disappointed with the quality of the food. and it was not just me. raegan’s dad and his comments on the lobster back up my thoughts on the steak. can we afford to eat there? yes. will be eat there again? i doubt it. i would choose a consistent, flavorful steak at someplace like longhornsteakhousefirst – we could eat six meals as a family there for the same price as ranch, and the quality would be better.

very pleased with my romantic date to ranch steakhouse!. we were seated immediately, and appreciated the quieter ambiance--low light (but not dark), and no disruptive background music. this is a place to have a conversation over dinner. the decor is a nice combination of "rustic steakhouse" (think "dark beams of wood and wine racks") and western art. the ranchsteakhousehas an association of sorts with the national cowboy museum, and features prints of western art and, in one room, a running video slideshow of art. on sunday night, it isn't busy.

on to the food: service was quick but not rushed, and our server was friendly without any off-putting "suck up" aires. he was genuinely likeable, and very helpful with menu selections and specials. we ordered lobster, filet, garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and mac&cheese with green chiles. not one item disappointed, but the mac&cheese with green chiles was the surprise standout of the entire meal--a must order! filet was cooked perfectly, which in this sense means slightly undercooked and then served on a searing hot plate to continue the process at your table. the food was brought without a lengthy wait, which was surprising for the caliber of fare. for dessert we had cheesecake and chocolate molten cake (served with fresh berries, but more for decoration than as a fruit serving). total bill: $144 for two entrees, three sides, a glass of wine, and two desserts. keep in mind, we tended to order entrees on the more expensive side.

would we go back? definitely--for a special occasion.

expensive, but worth it. ranchsteakhouseis easily my favorite restaurant in okc. the price excludes me from eating here as often as i would like, but it's amazing nevertheless. food is unbelieveable, service great, and atmosphere perfect.
