not gluten friendly. since ramsi's is listed as gluten friendly on several louisville sites i feel the need to add this review. ramsi's does have a gf designation on their menu and you can order from quite a wide variety of gf items, that is where the gluten friendly ends.

i believe they are not at all careful in their preparation of gf foods. i gave them a try twice thinking maybe the firsttimewas just a fluke. both times i became grossly ill after eating there choosing a gf item both times and mentioning to the server that i have celiac.

the rest of my family really enjoys ramsi's as for me i will no longer be going there. if you want good local and safe gf food go to northend cafe and save yourself from becoming ill.

really wanted to like it : (. my family arrived early on saturday night and immediately seated. we wanted a nice family dinner and thought with the variety of the menu that we could all easily find something. the four of us asked to be seated inside, not on the cover heated patio- which seemed to irritate the host. at thetimewe were seated, there were several empty tables. this did not matter as we still had to wait a considerable amount oftimefor a server. that should have been my first clue, but i am an extremely patient person and try to give the benefit of doubt. so after 10 minutes we finally get our drinks- ice waters for all...not too difficult, right? well it was the only drink we received even after empty glasses sat on the table for most of the meal. ordered two different appetizers- chicken quesadilla and their version of onion rings there was no chicken on the quesadilla- but we paid extra for it and the onion rings were luke warm by thetimewe got them, so it was a mess of cold greasy onions. our entrees came- chicken tortellini was seriously swimming in the pesto cream sauce. it looked more like soup than a pasta dish. the salmon panini was raw, cold, and on an uncooked roll. we all thought a panini was a hot pressed sandwich. the tuna tartare spinach salad- ordered specifically with the dressing on the side came completely saturated in some kind of tart dressing the made the spinach soggy and somewhat slimy. the tuna was also covered in the same kind of sauce that made tasting anything but the tart sauce impossible. i think the sauce was to hide the fact that it was not sashimi grade tuna as stated on the menu. i blame myself for this one as i should have sent it back, but i hate to do that. when you order the dressing on the side, for most people that means a dry salad!! our fourth entree did not come with the initial delivery and we were told that it would be right there. we waited a few minutes but started sharing our food - which we were glad to give away. no one really could eat and enjoy the taste of anything on the table. after about ten minutes after we finished eating, we flagged down our server- whom we had not seen since we placed the order to explain that we did not want the last dish and we wanted it taken off our bill. empty ice water glasses on the table and all of the appetizer dishes and half eaten appetizers still there that no one removed when they brought the entrees- and he seemed clueless. several minutes later after we flagged down our server again to ask for the check, the entree finally came- same pasta dish as the other we ordered just added mushrooms- the sauce was completely to the top of the dish-again-more like soup than a pasta dish. we explained that we did not want the dish. he tried to get us to take it, but at that point all we wanted to do was leave and try to recover what was left of our evening. still waiting, my kids and i decided to leave while my husband stayed to pay the bill. we thought if we got up and left that it would be a definite signal that we were ready to leave. we walked out to the car and it was almost ten minutes later that he finally was able to leave. for us, we had a terrible experience and will not be back. there are too many other establishments to visit instead of wasting over $80 on sub-par food and service.

terrific!!!. we just tried ramsi's for the firsttimeand it was excellent in every way! included in our group were a mix of ages and eating preferences, including strict vegetarians and meat eaters. everyone loved what they got. i had the fish tacos which were just fabulous! dessert was to die for...we tried the flourless chocolate cake. wow! atmosphere was so interesting and the service was the best i have ever had in any restaurant. highly recommend ramsi's. i only wish i lived closer so i could go more often!

awful experience. my husband love ethnic food and being new to louisville thought ramsi's cafe sounded perfect. we arrived around 7:30 on a sat. evening and were seated quickly. we ordered drinks and enjoyed a few minutes of visiting and perusing the menu. thirty minutes later the waiter came over to take our orders. he was very attentive to the large party next to us. there was a new smaller menu given to us along with the extensive larger menu. i inquired about the bison (on the smaller menu) and he admitted that he didn't know anything about the new smaller menu. i ordered the spinach salad and my husband order the pink lentil soup. then i ordered the the bison and asked about non-starchy veggie choices. he assured me that they had a stir-fry mix that was healthy. so i ordered that. my husband ordered fish with harissa sauce. my husband inquired about whether the sauce had cheese or cream in the sauce, as he has health restrictions on eating high fat foods. the waiter assured him that there was a tiny amount of cheese on the top of the fish. so my husband ordered the fish with the harissa sauce. thirty minutes later the waiter came over and said they didn't have the bison so i switched to the salmon. the large party next to us finished dinner and left. another large party was seated and again the waiter was super attentive to them. their food arrived quickly while we sat waiting for our dinners. so we ordered another bottle of wine. the waiter brought the new bottle over with two fresh glasses. as he opened the new bottle, we said we would use our original glasses. but instead of letting us taste the wine from the new bottle first, he plunges ahead and pours the new wine in with the remaining wine in our glasses. he moved so quickly we didn't havetimeto react. thirty more minutes elapsed and a women delivered our food. my dinner was a piece of salmon with nothing else on the plate, no garnish, no veggies, nothing. my husband's dinner was swimming in cheese sauce including the side of rice. we told him this wasn't what we ordered and asked for a manager. five minutes elapsed and no one showed up. i got up and found a manager and asked him to come to our table to explain the evening's disaster. we told them we'd pay for our wine and were leaving. the manager did give us a gift card for a future visit but we won't be returning. a patron seated next to us leaned over and mentioned that they had this waiter on a previous visit and he was a disaster then as well.

consistent. i visit ramsi a few times every year. always enjoy the meals and attentive service at reasonable prices.

their menu has a wide variety of cuisine, so they can usually accommodate anyone's taste.

a longtimelouisville favorite!

good vegetarian options. i've been here several times, and eachtimei am pleased with the experience. ramsi's is one of the few great places in louisville that serves a variety of vegetarian dishes and stays open late, too. i like coming here for a drink, an appetizer of their thinly sliced onion rings, and a sandwich served with potatoes.

terribly disappointed. we visited ramsi's last saturday and found a crowd waiting for tables but several tables sitting empty (never a good sign). we were seated after about a 20 minute wait and offered a table in the enclosed patio and toon it after being told "it's the same temperature as inside". that was not the case. it was very cold. they tried multiple times to light a heater next to our table but never could. the wrestling with the heater happened 3 times for ten minutes at atimeright next to our table. very annoying. our server didn't show for about 20 minutes and disappeared several times always with the promise of "i'll be right back". she never was. the menu is unique and i could see how people could be attracted to the diversity it offers. the food itself was good, but far from great. certainly not worth the bad service and overall fruatrating experience.

after reading the reviews on urban spoon, we went to ramsi's with an open mind. unfortunately we were disappointed. we waited for a table for 20 minutes (not bad), but once seated, we waited for a waiter for much longer. one of our table mates actually went to go find a waiter for us. i dont know if they were understaffed, but it was 20 minutes everytimeshe left our table. water glasses emptied more than once. in their favor, the menu was unique and the food passable, but the service was inexcusable. won't be back.

heaven for vegetarians. as a vegetarian, this is my restaurant. i can't think of even one other place where i have so many menu options. there are tons of vegan options too. even so, almost everytimei'm there i tend to get the jamaican tofu sandwich. it's totally delicious and addicting. there's a garlic and goat cheese appetizer that's pretty much amazing also. my only issue with this place is that there isn't much seating. don't even try to go there on a friday or saturday night unless you want to wait a few hours. they don't take reservations either, so there's no getting around the very long wait.

seriously, one of the best in town!. i adore this place! i simple cannot say it enough, the menu is huge but every dish is delicious and well thought-out! the pollo nuevo havana (made with fish instead of chicken, but both are amazing) and the egyptian kitchen are some of my alltimefavorites. the drink menu is always great and inspired, with an extensive beer and wine list as well. i always love taking groups of people here, because no matter what your culinary preferences...ramsi's will leave you delighted! oh, call ahead on friday and saturday nights for quicker seating.

i still like ramsi's but their prices seem to be going up everytimei go back. i respect that prices go up, but i find the food quality has gone down. i miss the small quirky little restaurant that i fell in love with in 2003.
