not gluten friendly. sinceramsi'sis listed as gluten friendly on several louisville sites i feel the need to add this review.ramsi'sdoes have a gf designation on their menu and you can order from quite a wide variety of gf items, that is where the gluten friendly ends.

i believe they are not at all careful in their preparation of gf foods. i gave them a try twice thinking maybe the first time was just a fluke. both times i became grossly ill after eating there choosing a gf item both times and mentioning to the server that i have celiac.

the rest of my family really enjoysramsi'sas for me i will no longer be going there. if you want good local and safe gf food go to northend cafe and save yourself from becoming ill.

my husband and i went for a late dinner at ramsi's. we arrived a little after 11pm on saturday night. the place was fairly full, but we were seated immediately. the host asked us if we would like to sit in the room with the piano player or in a quieter room. we choose the quieter room. i started out with a dizzy ginger cocktail ($9.00). for dinner my husband chose the greek salad with chicken ($13.95) and i opted for the empress
chicken ($15.75). the greek salad was large and was made with fresh feta cheese, which was delicious! the only complaint was that the olives were not pitted. the salad came with two sides of dressing, but one was plenty. my empress chicken was very good, but a little spicy for my taste. it was served over basmati rice with broccoli and mushrooms. for me personally a little less sauce would have made it perfect. we have been toramsi'sseveral times and try to get something different every time.

underwhelming. a number of small(er) problems atramsi'smade for an unfavorable experience overall. first, they under-estimated how long it would take us to be seated (we waited for almost an hour and a half, and were told it would be 45 minutes). secondly, the food wasn't that great. some dishes were bland, others a strange mix. flavors have to balance-- fusion for fusion's sake isn't enough. on the bright side, the food came out very quickly. however, we waited another 5-10 minutes and had to ask two people for silverware. this silverware was burning hot. lastly, the dining area was very loud. overall, i wouldn't return. there are many other restaurants in louisville with better food, better prices, and better service.

terrific!!!. we just triedramsi'sfor the first time and it was excellent in every way! included in our group were a mix of ages and eating preferences, including strict vegetarians and meat eaters. everyone loved what they got. i had the fish tacos which were just fabulous! dessert was to die for...we tried the flourless chocolate cake. wow! atmosphere was so interesting and the service was the best i have ever had in any restaurant. highly recommend ramsi's. i only wish i lived closer so i could go more often!

awful experience. my husband love ethnic food and being new to louisville thoughtramsi'scafe sounded perfect. we arrived around 7:30 on a sat. evening and were seated quickly. we ordered drinks and enjoyed a few minutes of visiting and perusing the menu. thirty minutes later the waiter came over to take our orders. he was very attentive to the large party next to us. there was a new smaller menu given to us along with the extensive larger menu. i inquired about the bison (on the smaller menu) and he admitted that he didn't know anything about the new smaller menu. i ordered the spinach salad and my husband order the pink lentil soup. then i ordered the the bison and asked about non-starchy veggie choices. he assured me that they had a stir-fry mix that was healthy. so i ordered that. my husband ordered fish with harissa sauce. my husband inquired about whether the sauce had cheese or cream in the sauce, as he has health restrictions on eating high fat foods. the waiter assured him that there was a tiny amount of cheese on the top of the fish. so my husband ordered the fish with the harissa sauce. thirty minutes later the waiter came over and said they didn't have the bison so i switched to the salmon. the large party next to us finished dinner and left. another large party was seated and again the waiter was super attentive to them. their food arrived quickly while we sat waiting for our dinners. so we ordered another bottle of wine. the waiter brought the new bottle over with two fresh glasses. as he opened the new bottle, we said we would use our original glasses. but instead of letting us taste the wine from the new bottle first, he plunges ahead and pours the new wine in with the remaining wine in our glasses. he moved so quickly we didn't have time to react. thirty more minutes elapsed and a women delivered our food. my dinner was a piece of salmon with nothing else on the plate, no garnish, no veggies, nothing. my husband's dinner was swimming in cheese sauce including the side of rice. we told him this wasn't what we ordered and asked for a manager. five minutes elapsed and no one showed up. i got up and found a manager and asked him to come to our table to explain the evening's disaster. we told them we'd pay for our wine and were leaving. the manager did give us a gift card for a future visit but we won't be returning. a patron seated next to us leaned over and mentioned that they had this waiter on a previous visit and he was a disaster then as well.

a fav!. i was visiting louisville for a few weeks and was taken here. wow, i was blown away by the food; so much that we had to go back a second time! grilled thick bread with goat cheese and garlic in oil for appetizer, eggplant parmesan for an entree (spaghetti on the side), delicious smartini for a drink, and carrot cake for dessert. it was all soooo good. their menu is excellent. this place is a bit expensive but i loved it and wish we had aramsi'sback where i live. highly recommended!

can't find anything on the menu that's good. the menu atramsi'sin incredibly extensive. the servers are always so friendly and nice. everyone that we've dealt with atramsi'shas been fantastic. my only problem is the food. i've tried their thai, italian, and egyptian food thinking that maybe one of these would hit the spot. the thai looked and felt like reheated (microwaved) pasta, the italian was covered with a bitter cheese, and the egyptian food (i got thinking that ramsi couldn't mess that up considering that he is from the middle east) consisted of chickpeas, lentils, rotini pasta and was sweet. too sweet. sugary sweet. i've never been able to finish a meal atramsi'sdue to the weird flavor combinations and sub-par ingredients. unless someone else desperately wants to go here, i won't be back.

one of the best.ramsi'sis one of my absolute favorites. i will say i am saddened they removed the chicken sandwich from the menu but i am told it may come back in time. that said, there isn't anything on the menu i would say not to try. it's all amazing.

the sunday brunch is just delicious. if you go, go hungry so you can sample all they have to offer.

we love to sit outside during warm weather and watch the people go by. inside is cozy and the atmosphere is fun and eclectic.

the prices are fair and even if you are on a budget, you are sure to find something you can enjoy without breaking the bank.

disappointing.. yesterday, was my third and final meal at ramsi's. a few years ago, this restaurant was excellent both in quality of staff and food. however, within the past year, my meals atramsi'shave been consistently disappointing: yesterday's lunch being the worst. the chips in our chipotle con queso appetizer were very stale and not warm. as for the queso, it consisted of mainly large chucks of artichoke hearts in a mild cheddar sauce. my choice of entree was shanghai stir fry with black bean sauce. i did not see any black bean sauce; not unless it was soy sauce tasting liquid that drenched the basmati rice. the other entrees at the table were the quesadillas with black beans and the burrito with jerk chicken. the quesadillas were completely bland and the clove in the jerk chicken made for a very sweet tasting burrito. now, i know thatramsi'sis all about combining different flavors from different cultures; however, making a stir fry with basmati rice and swapping out the cumin for clove in a burrito doesn't exactly make the dishes worldly.
on the bright side, the waiter did remove the extra charge for the jerk chicken, but ended up misplacing the credit card. after seeing the carelessness of staff increase and the quality of food decline, i am sorry to say i will not be returning to ramsi's.

disappointed!!!. oh my gosh!ramsi'sis one of my favorite louisville spots and the place i always take out of town guests. i have never ordered something i didn't like!
however, ramsi'srecently changed their menu. what an awful decision! i ordered the z-man and gone were any veggies, gone were the tiny, tender steaks and what was left was potatoes that were undercooked, steak cooked well, but not as tender as it used to be, and a side dish of spinch alfredo to smother the crappy steak and potatoes. whaaaat? is this an o'charley's?!? who smothers a steak in alfredo? we finished with a banana trifle, formerly made by a women who kept her recipe top secret. it used to be spiced wonderfully, with a real middle eastern flavor. the "cake" of the trifle i have never been able to figure out, but it was amazing. tonight i simply got my southern's grandma's jello brand banana pudding with vanilla wafers. i love my grandma, but that is not what i was wanting, expecting, or willing to pay for.
wwwwhhhhyyyyy have you done this to me ramsi's?!?! please change back!!!!
p.s. i voiced my complaints to the very kind bartender. service is great as always!! management is clearly the problem here!

comfort food. i have been visitingramsi'ssince he opened, and there was 1 small dining room. this place is my comfort spot to go to when every other restaurant sounds just ok or too expensive. you cannot beat the veggie stir fry or the pollo nuevo havana. salads and soups are terrific! my daughter is so pleased when she gets "real chicken" in her kids meal(and so am i). ramsi is very generous and runs a fantastic place for those of us who just want to relax with comforting food.

sunday brunch = delicious. while i do admit that the lunch/dinner menu could use some editing, the sunday brunch buffet atramsi'sis so good. the vegan options will knock the socks off even meat eaters.
