stopped by here for lunch, good bbq. tried to sample several items. they had a rib special today, 4-6 ribs, two side or fries and drink for $7.95. i opted for 1/4lb of brisket, 1/4lb of sausage and shared some turkey. the sausage was really good, great flavor. the turkey was also very flavorfull, nice smoke really moist.brisketwas ok, i had a few pieces that were hard and very dry. ribs were good, lacked a good rub flavor for me and needed a little more smoke. lots of meat and they pulled away from the bone nicely, a definate plus. sides were ok, similar to most other bbq places.

somewhat disappointing. numerous positive reviews prompted us to visit for a weekday lunch of barbecue basics (brisket, beans, and potato salad). of these, only the pinto beans were a real winner. the tough, stringybrisketwas lacking in flavor and was only slightly improved by a carefully rationed portion of sauce. potato salad was visually appealing but also lacking in flavor. condiment availability (peppers, pickles, onion, etc.) was quite limited. with so many good barbecue places in the area, this is not high on our list for a return visit.

very nice people serving great barbecue in a pristine dining room with a texas roadhouse setting. thebrisketis tenderand and smoked perfectly. sausage is lean and very good too! beans are a ranch style type with good flavor. potato salad is a mustard base... a little dry but good flavor. price is reasonable. enjoy!

worst bbq ever. i tasted dog food better than this bbq. you may be well know in texas but i will not spend another dime in this place. service sucked. seemed like all wanted to take a break than wait on me. maybe i would have been better off walking out of this dive. ribs like shoe leather andbrisketeven tougher. no amount of sauce would make them more tender. do not waste your money on this place.

go for the meat, not much else. i've been here a few times and thebrisketis delicious--if you like texas style bbq. those new to texas need to understand that bbq is not the stuff you find in tennessee, the carolinas, or most any place else. the emphasis is on a thin brothy sauce.

as far as texas bbq goes this is a landmark, and definitely worth a visit for the meats. personally, and i know this is blasphemy, texas-style bbq is my least favorite style. still, this is good and i would go there again.

they do seem to pay most attention to the bbq and the sides are average. good, but nothing to rave about.

the long-standing tradition is to serve bbq with plain white bread--a substance i personally despise. the bbq is better off without it, but i'm likely quite alone in this assessment.

bottom line: if you are in ft. worth and want good texas bbq at a great price, this is your place.

good ribs. mediocre sauce. they don't give much sauce either. the huge disappointment was thebrisketyesterday. in 51 years, i've never had any that dry. i would have thrown it out if i were them.

a frosty coors light and ribs!. when it's not too hot outside, their patio is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. their chopped beef isn't made by the fatty leftovers, just goodbrisketmixed up with their sauce. the ribs aren't gooey - nice dry rub and the meat falls off the bone. lunch gets very crowded, but you can order at the bar and watch all the retired golfers chat it up.

best brisket. i thought thebrisketwas the best i have ever tasted. moist, just the right amount of fat. nicely seasoned. ribs were good but not the bets. as anotehr reveiwer stated it is hard to be thoroughly consistent with smoking and bbq. best ribs i had in fort worth were at angelo's but thebrisketwas terrible there. ribs were meaty and mosit and falling off the bone. excellent. brisket. eh. didnt get a chance to make it to cousins or riscky's which i hear are good too.

below average. overrated. people rave about this place, and it does have a certain style.
the food, though, leaves much to be desired.
having eaten here several times now, i've reserved judgment until now.
thebriskethas been either undercooked & tough or overcooked & falling apart. either way, they've never passed the pull-apart test.
the ribs have always been overdone. they come off the bone with the slightest tug. i could live with that, though, if they actually tasted good, but they don't. the only flavor comparison i can make is that of a rail-road tie. the ribs actually have a faint tar taste.

there are better options for good bbq around.

disappointing. look, i know that bbq is maybe the most difficult cuisine to do well with consistency. but after my friend's recommendation and after reading all the articles on the walls as i waited in line i was really hoping the place would live up to the hype. it didn't. dry, roast beefybrisketi had to soak with sauce to get down my throat and smokeless ribs that tasted like they'd been cooked in an oven. i wanted to love it, but i couldn't. neat atmosphere, though.

ok but not the best. it's close to home and cheaper than most so i go there, but there are other places with better barbecue in fort worth. out-of-towners like it because it's a good place to drink along with eating. probably because of the drinking and the visitors, it has a happy feel, but i would consider it a place to take tourists rather than a place to eat serious meat. the best meat is the ribs; the worst is the chicken and thebrisketrests in the middle.

after a day full of bad 'cue, railhead was a nice way to finish. it really has more of a bar feel than it does a bbq joint. the smell of smoke was pleasant, and the meat looked great too. thebrisketwas tender, with a good crust and a thin smoke line. th
