excellent in every way!!!. the food was excellent. he was out of whole chickens, or at least we'd have to wait almost an hour for fresh ones, so he gave us the half chimichanga with thighs and fries!! omg sooooo good!!! chimi was stuffed and the crust so flaky and tender.that aji sauce is to die for too. i even doused my fries in it!!! not enough? we then got the flan for dessert and got samples of the melt in your mouth alfajores. yuuumy!!
the owners are warm, friendly and so welcoming. since i'm part peruvian, got to spend some quality time with the owner having a great conversation. my husband meantime, played one of the peruvian games with her hubby. he loved it!! so going back. new location is great too. very big inside, lots of room and very clean too!! loved the peruvian accents everywhere.worth the drive down to the base area from rr.

new address. pollito con papas is now at 6105 gibson. the new location is quite a bit bigger than the previous one. the chicken is still delicious and the alfajores literally melt in your mouth. i can't wait to go back!

just wonderful!. a small group of us were in the area for a community theater show at the southwest broadway cultural center. we wanted to grab a bite to eat before the show, so i did some research and found myself on urbanspoon. ranked at the top was pollito con papas...and rightly so! only going off what i could find online, we were feeling adventurous and wanted to try peruvian cuisine. among the four of us, we have had our fair share of chicken...but it was unanimous that nothing could compare. between us we had the fries, chicken thighs, chimichanga, and the stuffed potato. everything was warm, flavorful, timely, and most importantly delicious. i highly recommend to keep an open mind, especially when it comes to the aji (exclusive creamy sauce). honestly, at first i wasn't sure what i thought of it, very different. however, before i knew it, my tiny drop on top of my chicken turned into a complete smothering over everything. a warning, it has a kick and i felt myself sweating slightly, but definitely worth it for the flavor! only regret is that we didn't try the cookies i read so much about online..oh well! an easy excuse for going again...and again.
two things:
they don't accept any credit or debit cards...so bring cash! the reasonable prices don't make it much of an inconvenience however. also, they are moving to a new location. the wonderful owners (so nice, friendly family oriented, and genuine) told us about the larger place (use to be pho viet) near kirtland af base they are hoping to grow into. i am so excited for them, as i think that area will really become a great support. once they are all moved in, i really really hope you will give them the opportunity to blow your mind with fantastic chicken!!

humble place, really good chicken, really good if you go for a take out but if you want to eat there, bring to cans of raid, place is full of flyes and they don't mind to clean them up. it could be way better a little cleaner...

outstanding for carry-out business lunches. if you don't mind calling in a couple hours in advance and driving to pick up your order, this restaurant prepares an outstanding and creative group lunch for a team that's sophisticated enough to want something delicious and out of the ordinary.

today i picked up three orders of the 8-pice chicken thigh take-out, which comes with fries and their highly addictive green sauce. i also ordered a dozen of the chimichangas. everything was mouth-wateringly good and very well received. the only thing i regret was not taking more than eight of their business cards with me when i left. they got snapped up immediately and i have the feeling there's going to be more demand for take-out business lunch.

if you try this yourself for your business luncheon, you may want to pick up salad fixings and beverages from the grocery store across the street, but that takes a grand total of five, maybe ten minutes. where else can you get hot, fresh, never-frozen take-out food for two dozen people at $4 to $5 per head? the quality, at this dollar level, is unbelievable. i wouldn't hesitate to have them do the cooking for a small wedding, retirement party, or birthday party. just make sure you time it properly: fried potatoes won't hold well if you don't serve them immediately.

i'm told that the restaurant is moving out of the broadway/cesar chavez location into a larger location. it will be further east along gibson, closer to kirtland air force base but still within extremely easy driving distance of the airport. if it works out, it will be extremely good news for sandia laboratories, because there's a group of several thousand people who can't easily get off base, who frequently work through lunch, and who have a shortage of interesting food for these working lunches. for this outstanding peruvian bbq, i paid only about half what i would have paid for cafeteria lunches, and the cost was on par with what it would have been if i'd gone for a good quality pizza instead.

pollito con papas is quite inexpensive - two whole chickens, fries, and that awesome sauce will only set you back 20 bucks. that said, remember to bring cash, because they don't take credit. and don't go on wednesday. but do go. even if the a/c is on the fritz, the charming owners and delicious food will make you glad you stopped by.

awesome food. tried the chicken, fries and wonderful sauce. that sauce could be poured on anything. they sell a jar for $4. tonight we got the take out special of 2 chickens, fries, and sauce. entire family loved it. i had tried it before at the pork and brew but was willing to drive from the far ne heights to broadway and cesar chavez to have it again. they may be moving to gibson and louisiana area soon. it'll be a bigger location and i am hoping they take visa there, but i respect doing a cash business. the owners treat you like family. rene and his wife, i didn't catch her name, will chat it up with you and she even made us some nice little cookies while we waited on our fries. we will definitely be back frequently. i love the chicken and spicy sauce, but really want to try some of their other menu items.

what a fantastic restaurant and wheelchair accessible!. i had a wonderful lunch just absolutely incredible and being new to the neighborhood did not know that they did not take credit cards. oops! the owner said just bring it next time you come in and for sure i will be in again. it was a taste treat and wonderfully prepared. it is great to see owners working in their own restaurants and actually caring for the community. any other restaurant would have called the police. being in a wheelchair depending on busses you can bet i will take the time to go back and pay him along with getting some more of the great tasting chicken.

out of this world. the chicken is prepared peruvian style and the taste goes beyond your greatest expectations! you cant explain the taste , you have to try it to believe it. and to top of a nice meal, they offer something called alfajores (hope i spelled that right) they are a soft baked peruvian pastry/cookie that melt in your mouth. the filling is some sort of taste compared to a caramel cream. i tried one and i got some to go. best restaurant i've been to in years!
