pepe delgados

this is a great place on campus corner in norman. the food is fresh and the portions are ample. the food is not tex-mex (so if you are a fan, you may be disappointed) and they use cilantro in their dishes a little more than most places.

i ordered the loco burrito with pork. it was about the size of a small football. it was stuffed with pork, rice, beans and cilantro. my wife ordered tacos, one pork and one beef. we also had the chips and salsa. chips were fresh and crispy and you get a sample of four different types of salsa.

you may pay a little more than a fast foodmexicanrestaurant, but you will get your moneys worth.

this is one of the fewmexicanrestaurants that has mole sauce items on the menu.  i went here on a monday for lunch with a group of 13 people.  we were able to order immediately, and our servers took good care of us. 

when i saw mole sauce included in the description of the oaxacan enchiladas, i had to get it.  i think mole sauce pairs best with chicken, so that's what i got.  it was delicious.  their rice is standard spanish rice, and their black beans could have used more salt.  the little plastic cup of salsa was more on the liquid-y than chunky (which i don't like), and it was spicy (which i like).  finally, there was a house-fried corn tortilla half stuck in my black beans as a garnish.  it was a fun way to eat up the black beans. 

i don't get to norman often, but now i know i can depend on this pepe delgado's for reasonable prices, delicious food, and fast service.

i moved to norman in 1991 from california and opened the original pepes on campus corner. emilio the owner now, worked for me. he is from the state of oaxaca, mexico where they have some of the best food in mexico..we brought this food to norman because there was nothing else like it at the time. plus i'm a huge sooner fan! if the food resembles tex mex it's because the customers want it..when we first opened we didn't have sour cream..because that's notmexicanfood but customers pitched a fit about it so we added it. amelo explained to me some of his recipes are very old. a slave ship crashed off the coast of oaxaca and the surviving slaves stayed there and blended there style of cooking with the natives of mexico. to make my point this is not tex mex food.

the bestmexicanfood, in oklahoma. a very special place. jeff, the bartender, makes an amazing fresh lime margarita. it's not tex-mex. it is very fresh, very yummy, very amazing.

not impressed at all. mostmexicanrestaurants provide chips and salsa with your meal. not here. you have to pay for them separately. i ordered beef tacos. they came not as ground beef, but fajita meat. no lettuce, cheese or tomatoes. didn't eat much of it. came home and ate a sandwich.

simply the best. by far the best traditionalmexicanrestaurant in norman. the best tamales!freshly made everyday and the best quality for the $$$$...!!! the owner emilio is a top notch guy also. you can never go wrong with this place..

this resteraunt is the worstmexicanresteraunt i've been. nothing served before meal, like chips or salsa, and even you order a fajita you don't get flour tortillas. flour tortillas are the cheapest thing!!! the beef is incredibly dry and old, my jaw hurts after i had three piece!!! the beef is like it has been in the fridge over a week, nothing is more difficult to chew than this, literally. do not come here!!! and i bet the good reviews are from their own employees.

nom!. pepe's is by far my favorite place to get goodmexicanfood in the okc area. the food is always delicious and worth the price. i have been too many times to count in the last 8+ years, and tried the majority of the menu.

the only downside it that chips and salsa are not included with your meal. my husband and i love the food so much that this doesn't really deter us, even though we are chips and salsa fiends. the food is worth missing out on that, and sometimes we order the chips and salsa with the spicy set of salsas anyway.

overall you can't go wrong by going to pepe delgados. try the enchiladas verde with chicken, or anything on the menu. it is all delicious!

tried this spot after seeing the great reviews. not impressed!!! there are too many greatmexicanfood places to waste your time here. nachos were soggy and disappointing. margaritas were medicore. food was overpriced for what we received. won't be back.

the best. love everything about this place! authentic, delicious and outstanding salsa. havemexicancokes and othermexicansodas which is a plus. wish they had a little more menu items but their specials make up for it.

best.mex.ever.. looking for an escape from generic tex-mex glop? look no further.

you will not be assaulted by chili powder or reconstituted queso here! only the freshest ingredients are used and the difference is quite noticeable. i have been eating there regularly for nearly twenty years and the quality of the food has remained consistently high.

i've tried many things on this menu, but my longtime favorite is the chili relleno offered on thursdays as a special. the plate consists of a battered and fried poblano pepper stuffed with cheese and topped with a mild tomato sauce. also included are very tasty black beans and rice, along with the freshest, best tasting pico degallo you will ever have. i usually mix the pico with the beans and rice and roll some up in a corn tortilla with a ribbon of habanero sauce. the mix is greater than the sum of it's parts and leaves such a wonderful aftertaste that you just want more! the relleno is also a fantastic combination of flavors. in my opinion this is the best plate in norman, vegetarian or otherwise.

another favorite is the enchiladas verde. your choice of fillings wrapped in corn tortillas and covered in a delicious green mole. all the fillings offered are very good, but the marinated pork is by far my favorite. i get the pork in whatever item that has it as a choice. muy deliciouso!

since pepe's fare is authenticmexicanrather than common texican, it can present a challenge to those who might expect something more like taco hell and the many other places that rely on chili powder to define their 'cuisine'. but for those who can appreciate great food prepared with ultra fresh ingredients, pepe's may just convert you into one of it's vast group of regular customers.

lo mejor auténtica cocina mexicana en la ciudad de norman. since the day pepes opened i have been a fan. my number one choice formexicancuisine - emilio has never disappointed. i recently had a friday special that was enchiladas with a mole sauce - i could have eaten a second plate, it was that good.

a must when in norman. whenever i make the trek down from okc to norman, i try to make sure to stop here! the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is nice.

i also love that it is very vegetarian friendly. the vegetarian nachos are amazing. they are different from anything else i've ever had, and i think i've had quite a lot ofmexicanfood over the years.
