old town italy

i love the interior, deli and ambiance - went for lunch twice in the past month - first time disappointed as the lasagne was “out of stock” my husband then ordered ravioli and was served “zio’s pasta” he decided to eat what was served! the beef carpaccio was delicious and the waitress friendly.
the next time the lasagne was available but not at all juicy and cheesy as italians serve it, in fact it was tasty but dry.
our waitress - memory was attentive and friendly.
missing in thisitalianrestaurant is the presence of a realitalianwaiter or manager - haven’t seen anyone looking italian!
i will go back - even if only for the carpaccio and ambiance!

from its simple custom deli platters to its flavorful pastas and pizzas old town italy allowed us a night of great conversation with awesome friends and amazing food...only to be outdone by the gelato (the perfect night cap)

everyone who knows me knows how much i value good service, human to human. the staff at this branch absolutely shine. i would literally give them a 5/5 rating for that alone; so friendly and considerate, but not in that awkwardly intrusive way. prior to our dinner, i spent a few minutes browsing around the in-store supply of endlessitaliangoodies😍 not only did this set a really authentic ambiance, the staff were so helpful and friendly it got me super excited to eat here!

the food was really delish, although it took forever and a day to arrive. my steak was a little too rare for my asking, but the pasta (sauce) for my friend's dish was to die for 😍 my dad's polenta was yummy-winter-comfort-food but the meatballs were tiiiiny, we couldn't see some of them hidden in there😶 my momma's burger was hugemongous😂🙈 and my sister opted for the deli selection of assorted veggies and salads! super fun and super filling ☺️
the hero of the night was the take-home panacotta, among a plethora of dessert options to choose from 😍❤️ i got too into the food to take photos - oh well guess i'll have to go back. fab!

what a lovely spot in a great centre. i visited this restaurant recently on a fairly cold evening but it was worth it. just walking around this restaurant to see all the differentitalianitems you can buy from cheese to wine. there is an abundance of different and unique imported items that you do not see locally.

it is really not far to travel here if you are coming from joburg and definitely worth the journey.

the cheese board we ordered was very enjoyable as was my vegetarian pasta main dish. thr portion sizes are of a good size. don't forget to finish off your meal with a great desset, cappuccino or a creamy hot chocolate.

the service and ambiance here is great all round. i will definitely be visiting this branch or its sister branch in umhlanga in the near future.

if you are looking for some great, authenticitalianfood, you should definitely check this place out! the set out of the restaurant is beautiful, with a little market to purchase some goodies and desserts! the food is incredible and the drinks are veryitalianinspired! beautiful spot! you must be sure to try the cronut amd the conut with gelato!!

awesome ambience with an unmistakablyitalianfeel. friendly staff...great service...and most importantly, the food and coffee was excellent. great breakfast / lunchtime spot...

3,5 stars ... i'd rate it higher if only they didn't stuff up the one fundamental breakfast item that's an integral part of their menu. all three of us ordered poached eggs with runny yolks and 5 out of the 6 eggs were over cooked.
this spoilt an otherwise delicious breakfast
they are generous with their portion of perfectly cooked bacon , mushrooms and delicious artisanal breads baked in house.
the service however was great and made up partially for the eggs.


there is a great vibe sitting on the street but walking through the store is a revelation. the fantastic variety of predominantlyitalianfoods on offer is phenomenal

a must try is their cannoli.. it is deliciously decadent and will not disappoint

the restaurant was very very lovely,italianstyled deco. the fact that the restaurant has a market makes the experience more enjoyable and unique.

the alcohol menu has many varieties of gin mixes so there's a lot to choose from. the pasta options are also extensive and gives you a lot of option to choose from

all in all the experience was a great one and i will definitely go back.

amo il cibo italiano! yes i love old town italy. you don't have to go to italy to get authenticitalianwhen you have this place. breakfast to die for, a butchery with all cuts of meat and dangerously delicious cakes. famous for the their cronuts! if you have a sweet tooth then you have to try it!!!

this restaurant brings me back to italy so much!!! literally feels like you’re in a restaurant in italy. this is a purely authenticitalianbased restaurant serving only the freshest and most home-madeitalianfoods you can imagine, from pizzas and pastas to the most tastiest gelato you can find...the flavors are mind-blowing! oh and did i mention there’s a cuteitaliangrocery store in the restaurant...only the best you can find. definitely one worth to try. it’s a bit pricey but definitely cheaper than going to rome for some authentic pasta.

check in this morning for an espresso, made with absolute,italianlove, it was fantastic and the street cafe vibe, totally rocks, and the staff are friendly and efficient,
and made the the coffee stop, very memorable

i completely enjoyed my food, i’m impressed with their pasta dish because when you are anitalian restaurant you deserve the absolute best.

their service needs more work, the staff is so friendly but not attentive enough. i asked for lemon water and my waiter passed my table at least 3 times and i still didn’t get the water.

i love how it feels like you are in a little indoor market when you are there. it’s such a relaxed feeling.

finally got around to trying this absolute gem of a restaurant. fantastic decor firstly; literally italy in pretoria.

they have the best wine, beer, prosecco and non-alcoholic beverages on their menu. the starters were great; we managed to dig into someitalianbread with hummus as well as arancini; both were perfect. the mains were great too; salmon pasta, pork sausage pizza and rump to be specific. they paid careful attention to everything including the presentation of the food as well as the portion size which i appreciate.

the show stopper would be have to be their dessert selection. please please have their amarula tiramisu and red velvet cake.

i guess my only reason for taking away one of the stars in my ultimate rating would have to be the quality of service. i feel like this restaurant needs more passionate individuals from a service standpoint; in an ideal world if they could combine this restaurant’s food with fireroom’s service; we would probably have a 5/5 restaurant on our hands.

nonetheless; i’ll be raving about this place to everyone i know

we missioned across to old town italy last weekend from sandton in pursuit of an authenticitalianfoodie experience. this place exceeded expectations! what a surprise. a deli/bakery/shop and restaurant. the menu was expansive with a broad selection ofitaliandelicacies. next time i will be sampling more of the appetizers. we opted for the prawn pasta and pesto chicken pasta as a main. huge portions and both utterly delicious. we ended off with a gelato from their deli. delicious! we will definitely be back.
