from the outside in this alleyway, you might be mistaken in thinking its closed. as soon as you push that wooden door, the decor catches your eye.its allvikingthemed with shields, helmets, hammer and more all around you. the wait staff were very attentive and gave good suggestions. the food came out and not only was it presented well, but it tasted amazing. i just had good envy everytime i saw the giant bone marrow come out.
great place for date nights or with friends. massive selection of cocktails.
a great fun night out with great good! well done!

a somewhat belated post today for a restaurant that deserves better! the menu may have changed, but i’m sure the quality hasn’t. if the marvel movies haven’t gotten you up to speed, mjolner is the name for none other than thor’s majestic hammer. it also happens to be the name of avikingthemed restaurant on hardware lane, the second after the venue first became successful in sydney.

this place brought me back to iceland with all thevikinginterior throughout the restaurant. came here to celebrate my partners birthday and we had an amazing time. you start the night off with a palate cleanser drink if you’re having alcohol. then you get to choose your own knife for the night which seemed pretty cool.

for drinks we got battle axe and loder. both were exceptional and brilliant. food wise we got some fresh oysters, venison loin and roast bone marrow. everything was spot on. what made it even more special is the bone marrow – after you finish it you can have a whisky shot through the bone! my partner loved it. for main or from the carvery, we got the pasture fed short rib and wagyu sirloin. the portion was very generous, and it tasted amazing! will definitely be back to try the whole snapper as we saw a lot of the fish being pumped out of the kitchen.

thisvikingthemed restaurant was a pleasant experience post lockdown. i had planned my birthday dinner here and it was nothing but impressive. for the first timers, it could be a bit of a task to find this hidden behind a medieval themed door. as soon as you enter, you have a welcoming entryway dazzled with candles. for starters, we were offered with complimentary drinks in horn shaped glasses. food was great, we went with few cocktails and a snapper which was not only appealing to eyes but also delicious. this one is definitely must for second visit in my list.

absolutely loved the concept and experience here!! the interior was fantastic and the staff really got into the wholevikingstory telling concept. we started off with a shot of skål in a really cool shot glass which was on the house. the entrees were great - loved the smokiness of the bone marrow. the short rib main was pretty disappointing though, it was bland and the mustard that was served with it didn’t taste that good. overall experience though was great and would definitely recommend if you’re after a different dining experience.

what a unique dining experience! dining experience alone should be enough for you to visit mjølner. i personally loved the overall ambience and nordic decos that made me feel like i was dining with ragnar lothbrok from vikings :) however, i did feel like this viking-themed venue paid a little too much attention to the theatrics than the actual foods.
a few notable things about mjølner:
- the waiter brings you a selection of knives to choose from before the meal. (man, all the knives are exceptional looking!)
- you can drink beer from this badass horn
- once you finish 'roast bone marrow', you can take a whisky shot using the bone marrow as a funnel. (warning: it can get messy!)
- even your receipt looks cool with this pop-upvikingship!

foods were okay but considering the price, they could've been better overall. my favourite was roast porchetta which was decent but not as tender as i expected it to be. overall, i felt like dishes were a bit bland but maybe that's how it's supposed to taste. overall, i had a pleasant time at mjølner :) highly recommend!

i recently had my 30th at mjolner and had an amazing night. nick winter the general manager made all efforts possible to ensure everyone had the best experience possible.

the food was fantastic and everyone that attended was impressed with the service and other mjolner specific experiences such as the bone marrow whiskey luge and being able to choose your ownvikingknife to kick off the night, just to name afew.

it's key things like this that make mjolner unique amongst a city known for its amazing food scene.

thank you once again nick for making my 30th a night to remember.

mjolner melbourne was absolutely fantastic, excellent service, beautiful food (with vegetarian options which were delicious), and great atmosphere. we arrived about 10 minutes before opening but they were lovely and seated us early (we had a play to get to after). it was a very quiet that early on a tuesday afternoon, but it was perfect for our first official date. it was awesome to see them leaning into thevikingfeel without making it gimmicky.
my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. definitely give yourself an hour and half or more to really soak up the experience.

if you have watched the vikings then this needs to be on your bucket list.vikingthemed restaurant which goes all the way - including serving shots and drinks in traditionalvikingstyle. food is very rich and meat heavy, consistent with theme. food is very tasty and cooked well. however, i think it is a tad overpriced for the food, remember you are paying for the experience. a place where i think is great to check out and provides a great night out. not a place which you would go regularly....

i think we spent at least an hour at the museum before heading back to the cbd in search of mjolner, avikingthemed bar.

mjolner has two sections to it. a restaurant upstairs and a bar downstairs. just a warning this place is quite expensive but fun as a once-off. my friend ordered a cider in a horn! the drink looked epic. when your getting to the end try drinking from the side so an air pocket doesn’t form, causing it to spill everywhere. i ordered the fog of war which arrived with sorbet and pop rocks. the pop rocks made this into such a fun drink. my partner also ordered a fire that was quite strong tasting but delicious. this came with a piece of dark chocolate that brought out another level of flavour to the drink........

very impressed by thisvikingthemed restaurant and really loved the interior ! service was pretty attentive at the start but did get a bit inattentive as the night got busier . we got the bone marrow , burrata and the lamb to share - the lamb was a really huge serve and we were pretty full what we didn’t order any dessert ! the theatrics of drinking a shot through the bone marrow was really fun, so was the drinks you can order in thevikinghorn
