from the outside in this alleyway, you might be mistaken in thinking its closed. as soon as you push that wooden door, the decor catches your eye.its all viking themed with shields, helmets, hammer and more all around you. the wait staff were very attentive and gave good suggestions. the food came out and not only was it presented well, but it tasted amazing. i just had good envy everytime i saw the giant bone marrow come out.
great place for date nights or with friends. massive selection of cocktails.

i took my husband here for an early 30th birthday dinner. he loves vikings and such so i knew this was right up his alley.
the restaurant was tastefully decorated (not overkill) and had a really warm cosy feel to it. music was thankfully not too loud so you can have a conversation yet it contributed to a good vibe. staff were super friendly and helpful.
they don’t have baby high chairs or allow strollers because of space restrictions. kids are welcome though.
the beef rib was amazing and the star of the night. the brussel sprouts that came with it were really tasty. we had the chicken too. it was very well cooked but wasn’t anything unique to other restaurants, in terms of taste. if you like chicken, then go for it but don’t expect the “wow” taste factor. we had the potatoes and cauliflower as sides. the cauliflower was delicious. potatoes were good too but nothing overly special.
my husband is picky with nice dining/sophisticated menus , but he could not fault mjølner. he left feeling full and we did not have to do a maccers run afterwards. wished they had some chocolate on their dessert menu.
my mocktail was $18- had i known i wouldn’t have ordered it (i don’t normally order mocktails so this could just be the general price across the board)
overall agreatexperience and my husband is already planning to take his brother here.

fantastic experience overall - right from the ambience to the decor to the plating and food options. real vikings feel everywhere. the starters were to die for! we ordered the bone marrow and burrata and then drank whisky with the bone marrow - what a thrill! dinner was fish in chowder soup, steak and short rib. the short rib was outstanding however the fish was salty and the steak was a bit overdone. the only main complaint was the service - took forever to get menus and the drinks.
however,greatexperience overall, slightly pricey but definitely worth a visit at least once.

awesome viking themed restaurant. fun viking inspired service,greatfood and even a pretty good vegetarian option. hated that we were a group of 3 and missed out the set menu. the food was impressive!

if you want to be charged an extra $50 for no reason and then aggressively be spoken to when you confront the bartender to recalculate the bill, this is agreatplace to go.
honestly, one of the worst experiences i’ve had at a bar. i’ve never been treated so poorly for just asking to have my money back when i was charged wrong. i eventually got my refund but i had to ask for the manager to be able to get it back. the guy at the bar ignored me the whole time until i finally got help. the manager that ended up helping me was lovely though. i will definitely never go back to this place again and will warn any of my friends not to go. i was very surprised at the horrible treatment my friends and i received when we weren’t even in the wrong.

went there for my birthday celebration and it was a disappointment, the waitress so not friendly and the food took 1hr to come out. the waitress didn’t even give our changed back.

absolutely loved the concept and experience here!! the interior was fantastic and the staff really got into the whole viking story telling concept. we started off with a shot of skål in a really cool shot glass which was on the house. the entrees weregreat- loved the smokiness of the bone marrow. the short rib main was pretty disappointing though, it was bland and the mustard that was served with it didn’t taste that good. overall experience though wasgreatand would definitely recommend if you’re after a different dining experience.

it wasgreatto have dinner out again after lock down. the restaurant is viking themed...greatenvironment practicing social distancing and good hygiene practices. had to fill out online questionnaire re: covid-19.greatservice, we started with a complimentary cocktail which was nice. awesome food, meat was so tender and flavours were excellent.greatbeer menu drinking from horns was interesting. over allgreatplace.

we came here for a birthday party on a weekday.greatatmosphere and i liked how you can choose your knife. i enjoyed the welcome shot, gravlax, chicken and bombe alaska. our waiter ian was awesome and made it a fun night. would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.

came here for a function with a large group - the food was delicious and well cooked, with reallygreatportion sizes. a particular standout was the bone marrow and doing a whiskey shot out of the bone after eating!

mjolner melbourne was absolutely fantastic, excellent service, beautiful food (with vegetarian options which were delicious), andgreatatmosphere. we arrived about 10 minutes before opening but they were lovely and seated us early (we had a play to get to after). it was a very quiet that early on a tuesday afternoon, but it was perfect for our first official date. it was awesome to see them leaning into the viking feel without making it gimmicky.
my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. definitely give yourself an hour and half or more to really soak up the experience.

my partner took me for our 1 year and we had the best time! the staff lean into the atmosphere and make for a reallygreatexperience! the food was the best i’ve ever had in a restaurant and the whole experience was 100/10
