wanted to try out agreekrestaurant for a long time. checked on zomato and zeroed in on milos. did a reservation for 3 people and finally when reached there realised why reservation was necessary. the restaurant was packed eventhough it was a week day. we ordered the traditionalgreeksalad along with stuffed calamari for starters. for the main course ordered the fresh catch black sea bass. all the items were top class. though it's a bit pricey but taste and ambience makes up for it.

milos, is a montreal institution and great success story in the world of restaurateurs. it can be counted amongst the few who over time, not only have survived, but expanded and morphed into something better than the original concept. for over thirty-five years it has dominated the realm ofgreekfood in a city that is not only discerning but discriminating when it comes to dining out. from its humble beginnings, it has grown into an empire that spans across the globe. including locations in new york, miami, las vegas, athens and london.

when a restaurant has a lunch special, you go. when a fancy restaurant has a lunch special, y'all have no choice, you freaking go! actually, jer bear, lea and i were totes excited to eat at this korean resto not far from milos, but it was closed! grrr. i hate it when that happens. we started walking towards st-viateur and noticed milos. jer said 'hey, they have a lunch special. and so,greekfood it was!

that large sucking sound is that of your hundred dollar bills being flushed one-by-one down the proverbial toilet. for second-rate seafood (the swordfish was bland as heck, and clearly defrosted), and milos' famous $25 tomato, this is your place.

the ambiance is chic, and the seafood staging area is esthetically appealing, in the way provigo le marché is. save your craving forgreekdelicacies for any of the more rewardinggreekinstitutions nearby.

milos is a montreal institution and a nod to the city'sgreekheritage. the cuisine is simple and it has every reason to be. the restaurant's whole raison d'être is to let the ingredients speak for themselves.

i would describe milos as the upscalegreekrestaurant with high prices. some of our dishes were met with mixed reviews, but the service was pretty good.

bestgreekrestaurant in the world?. this may just be the bestgreekrestaurant in the world. the appetizers (try the fried zucchini) are out of this world. the fish is flown fresh from greece daily, i believe and is proudly displayed. i have not found any other restaurant that i liked as much anywhere else in canada nor in greece. this success story, that started in montreal, has led to additional milos restaurants (owned by the same family) in new york city and in greece.

heard about thegreekrestaurant milos for some time and finally made it out there one evening to check it out. the place was pretty busy when we got there, so i was hoping for the best. service was pretty good as you might expect from a more expensive place like this. the downside was our table position; they squeezed us in tightly between other tables and had to jostle us around more than once during food service which was distracting. panoramic photo of milos interior what to expect similar to rayan restaurant , they have a fish counter where you can check out the fish that you may want to order; in the end we just ordered off the standard menu. great starters many restaurants i've been to seem to have starters that outshine their main courses, and looking back i think this may another one of those times. the milos special (paper thin zucchini and eggplant, lightly fried saganaki cheese and tzazik) and octopus (sashimi quality mediterranean octopus, charcoal broiled) were simply gre

living off its name and former glory. i always found the place a bit of a clip joint, a tomato salad for $25 still does not sit well with me. nonetheless,i enjoyed the power scene at milos and its selection of fresh fish.
a couple of weeks ago, we went out to milos on a saturday night. we were seated for 7:30. one of our guests doed not eat shellfish so we asked what were the selections of white fish available. we had to hurry our order in as there were only 2 white fish left ( snapper and sea bass).
the waiter was unapologetic, our meal came to $400. and let me tell you it was not worth it. today there are loads of fish restaurants in montreal, that give you quality and value for your hard earned money and appreciate your patronage. no more "emperor's clothes for me. i am looking forward to my nextgreekmeal at philanos , just up the street !

it's not cheap but the prices are justified. first if all, no one, and i mean no one does fried vegetables like milos. the mills special which is a beautiful skyscraper of battered and deep fried zucchini and eggplant is a must. ambiance is a bit older ppl but it's still trendy and fabulous. as for pricing it's expensive but justified. for examplenthegreeksalad is 18$ but the tomatoes in it are just perfect (no nasty tomatoes) i actually wonder where the he'll they get them in the middle of winter! i disagree with reviews about that 10 pm menu, i love it and tuna burger was amazing

good food, great service, but.... goodgreekfood, but a bit overpriced in my opinion. the service is good and the food is nicely plated, fresh and tasty, but i find the venue and the presentation (and clientele) a bit too self-conscious. i would eat there willingly, but might select one of the other less pretentiousgreekseafood places first if it was up to me.

i went to milos for the very first time last week. i went with my girlfriend for a romantic supper and almost everything was perfect. all the food was superb except thegreeksalad appetizer was waaaaay to salty (and i like salt!). still good nonetheless. the only other comment i have is that the ambiance could have been a bit more cozy (especially considering it was for a dinner service) if they dimmed the lighting somewhat. very bright in there! aside from that, no complaints. great service, great decor and delicious food!

my personal top favouritegreekfare in mtl. while philinos is my favouritegreekrestaurant for food, milos is top favourite all-roundergreekrestaurant because it covers and balances perfectly well all i like about a restaurant: awesome cuisine, beautiful layout, classy service.
the full pack!

the food
=========
on my visits there, i had try several fish dishes (always fresh, savourish and very interesting variety of top quality fishes), but had a soft spot for the grilled octopus (octopus in the hands of a weak chef can be a disaster, and that's how i started to measure the great talent of milos's chef -> his octopus is brillantly cooked, at perfect tenderness and with a taste that drives your palet happy ;p).
i've got to point this out: their seafood is so fresh that you would litteraly think there was a little fishing village right next door..litteraly!

decoration
===========
beautiful modern/trendy/romantic/ contemporan warm and light colors.

service
=======
very courteous staff with high standards of service. ask them about anything that's on their menu, and you will be amazed by how precise are their knowledge about cuisine, their menu, food and so on. mind you, that is what you expect from such high caliber restaurant.
