disappointing and $$$. a friend and i were curious to try milos's lunch after a friend of mine was raving about it: so we decided to give it a shot.
the tuna tartar as well as the smoked salmon starters weregreatbut
the tuna hamburger that my friend chosed was tasting really bizarre, i just took a small bite of it and wondered if they put meat in it. my friend told me later she had a hard time digesting it.i was lucky enough to take the salmon ...small portion but delicious, came with a tiny sprigg of brocoli and saffron rice that totally tasted like medecine ( and i love saffran and use it regularly in my own cooking ) i would have expected that this tiny portion of rice would have come with maybe parsley and some fresh tomatoes. what a lack of imagination
for a restaurant with that reputation. and lets us talk about the deserts. the famous baklava ice cream. which came in a martini glass, tiny as a ping pong ball. we bursted in laugher at the sight of it : my cake was delicious, tiny also but a little bit more fulfilling than that cheap amount of i must admit delicious ice cream. in all, not worth it ...i ate in much better restaurant for the rapport-qualité- prix.

milos, is a montreal institution andgreatsuccess story in the world of restaurateurs. it can be counted amongst the few who over time, not only have survived, but expanded and morphed into something better than the original concept. for over thirty-five years it has dominated the realm of greek food in a city that is not only discerning but discriminating when it comes to dining out. from its humble beginnings, it has grown into an empire that spans across the globe. including locations in new york, miami, las vegas, athens and london.

easily one of my favourite restaurants in montreal!

my personal menu highlights are always the:
'sashimi' (tuna or salmon), and 'oysters' appetizers. the 'milos special' (fried zucchini & eggplant chips with tzatziki), and 'octopus' (charcoal broiled) starters, and 'pasta with lobster', and 'lamb chops' mains.

great wine selection.greatolive oil and bread on the table.
dress code is casual chic. the atmosphere is bright and lively, but not too loud.
these guys never let me down.

greek seafood. we were treated to a real special evening withgreatservice and food. the crab cake was a montreal award winning appetizer. we also started off with a split of calamari and octopus that was one of the best i have had. for our main course we shared a 3lbs wide eyed mediterranean snapper. it was fresh out of the ocean and flown in that day so you can imagine the taste. the price for the fish was a little high but one has to understand the source of the fish and it's travel. after agreatindulgence and a wonderful interaction with our servers we were treated to a complimentry award winning las vegas dessert their baklava ice cream. wouldn't i recommend this place? sure would.

very disappointing. what could have agreatdinner (albeit expensive) ended up being a very poor experience due to the awful service we received. our waiter was hostile, rude and careless. thank goodness we didn't need to tolerate this behavior on a consistent basis as he was fairly non-existent. after waiting patiently for nearly 30 minutes for him to come by to take our order, i literally needed to stop him in his tracks simply to ask a question as he never bothered to stop by. our orders did not come out as requested, this as a result of our waiter simply not putting the order in properly. he never came by to ask about water or more wine. we had to ask a busboy close by. at 2+ hours, we could not wait to leave. a waste of an evening and a waste of money. never again. milos here in nyc on the other hand is fantastic. pass on the montreal location.

great seafood and attentive friendly service!. milo's was great! a local recommended milo's to us and we were delighted. unfortunately* we arrived late, so the fish selection was diminished (the restaurant was packed), the fish is all on display and the server will bring it to the table. as a result we decided to split a bunch of appetizers and share a main. we started with sardines which were wonderful, right down to the grape leaves they were served on. we followed this up with the grilled octopus which was tender and delicious. be warned though the portions are large! so at this point, we (three of us) decided that we either needed to start cancelling things or phone a friend. the server suggested changing the next item - a milo special - to a half portion, which they did... it was still too much food.... panic was starting to set in, so we asked if we could cancel the main (fish), which the server cheerfully agreed to do. that fortunately left a bit of room for a piece of baklava (yummy) and coffees. the servers weregreat- friendly, helpful with recommendations and attentive. and while we did not sample a huge array of items, i have a feeling that the rest of the mains are just as good - based on the happy crowd there. we also could see a mouth-watering array of cheeses and fresh fruit. negatives... a bit noisy maybe for a lot of conversation, but mist crowded restaurants are... i would skip the milo special appetizer (a tower of fried zucchini), which while tasty, to me is more bar fare. it was expensive... good restaurants are though. i gave it four stars... i suspect it would get five on another night.

we plan to go back to milo's to pick up where we left off - soon we hope!

heard about the greek restaurant milos for some time and finally made it out there one evening to check it out. the place was pretty busy when we got there, so i was hoping for the best. service was pretty good as you might expect from a more expensive place like this. the downside was our table position; they squeezed us in tightly between other tables and had to jostle us around more than once during food service which was distracting. panoramic photo of milos interior what to expect similar to rayan restaurant , they have a fish counter where you can check out the fish that you may want to order; in the end we just ordered off the standard menu.greatstarters many restaurants i've been to seem to have starters that outshine their main courses, and looking back i think this may another one of those times. the milos special (paper thin zucchini and eggplant, lightly fried saganaki cheese and tzazik) and octopus (sashimi quality mediterranean octopus, charcoal broiled) were simply gre

good food,greatservice, but.... good greek food, but a bit overpriced in my opinion. the service is good and the food is nicely plated, fresh and tasty, but i find the venue and the presentation (and clientele) a bit too self-conscious. i would eat there willingly, but might select one of the other less pretentious greek seafood places first if it was up to me.

i went to milos for the very first time last week. i went with my girlfriend for a romantic supper and almost everything was perfect. all the food was superb except the greek salad appetizer was waaaaay to salty (and i like salt!). still good nonetheless. the only other comment i have is that the ambiance could have been a bit more cozy (especially considering it was for a dinner service) if they dimmed the lighting somewhat. very bright in there! aside from that, no complaints.greatservice,greatdecor and delicious food!

my personal top favourite greek fare in mtl. while philinos is my favourite greek restaurant for food, milos is top favourite all-rounder greek restaurant because it covers and balances perfectly well all i like about a restaurant: awesome cuisine, beautiful layout, classy service.
the full pack!

the food
=========
on my visits there, i had try several fish dishes (always fresh, savourish and very interesting variety of top quality fishes), but had a soft spot for the grilled octopus (octopus in the hands of a weak chef can be a disaster, and that's how i started to measure thegreattalent of milos's chef -> his octopus is brillantly cooked, at perfect tenderness and with a taste that drives your palet happy ;p).
i've got to point this out: their seafood is so fresh that you would litteraly think there was a little fishing village right next door..litteraly!

decoration
===========
beautiful modern/trendy/romantic/ contemporan warm and light colors.

service
=======
very courteous staff with high standards of service. ask them about anything that's on their menu, and you will be amazed by how precise are their knowledge about cuisine, their menu, food and so on. mind you, that is what you expect from such high caliber restaurant.
