horrible experience.
waited 45 min for ourtableby fountain, with 5 kids running around yelling and screaming running in and out of gated patio to restaurant. couldn't wait to be seated to get away from the noise. guess where we sat? right in their path on said patio. :/ waited anotherrr 45 minutes for our food. food arrived cold...and my plate, which was $28 dollars, was a small portion... my steak, which was supposed to be rare, was charred. beans and rice lukewarm.. not happy. i don't mind (at all) waiting...for "good", "hot" food....but when you wait 45 minutes-- to get cold, crappy, overcooked food it's just ridiculous.. not happy as i talked my date into taking me here, going on about how good it was the 1st time.
place was not hurting for customers...it's like the place to be, but no idea why. plenty of other consistently great places to go in dfw... manager did buy my date's meal, (at that point that's all we had as i'd sent mine back). i then skipped dinner, ordered a mexican coffee (and skimpy dessert, which the waiter decided on his own to upgrade by adding the tbs of ice-cream you see in the picture....and charged for)...coffee was another $10..and you guessed it. arrived cold. (??)
friday march 25, 2022.

update: so on yelp bryce from corporate responded to contact him. however, when i did email him, i never heard back. this tells me that the management really does not care. they just respond so they can "look" like they are trying to make it right, all the while knowing a) they never really plan to do anything to rectify, and b) you cannot respond to their response. i'll be calling their corporate.

good day. please read ms. hallmark's review of mi dia. it's very good and i agree with her on the ambiance and decor. her description of the chips and salsa is excellent as well. i had dinner with friends this afternoon and they enjoyed the new mexican tampequena and the camarones a la diabla. the camarones really seemed like a light entree. there were perhaps 6-8 shrimp and a small scoop of potatoes that the shrimp encircle. the sauces on these items was very piquant which was nice because most of the mexican and tex-mex restaurants in the metroplex are so bland i was beginning to think that north texans were afraid of a little heat. this restores my faith in mexican cuisine in this area. the new mexican tampequena was quite large and my friend remarked several times how good it was. i had the xmas burrito (chicken). it was very good. it was a large 10" tortilla with all of the usual culprits: chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, rice etc. it was probably a half a pound. it had a smoky red sauce and a bright flavorful green sauce. the sauce was hot but not so much that it overpowered the other ingredients.

service was good, not bubbly, and the reason may be that the restaurant must be busy all day long. we arrived late afternoon on a sunday, around three o'clock and the place was packed. kids are welcome here as you could not only hear, but see their animated selves. the atmosphere actually was quite pleasant. we did not have a long wait for our meals, and our server returned to ourtablenumerous times to check up on us.

parking was not a problem, but we were there at an off hour. there are three or four other restaurants within thirty feet of each other which may take up a lot more of the parking spots and may cause problems at peak hours. in summary, a very good restaurant with attractive layout. good service and even better food.

patio andtableside guacamole!. sunday night with family and friends at mi dia.
the patio has to be one of the nicest in the dfw area. i really enjoy the covered open feel and it's not just a straight design with four sides and a pergola. it has some character! the margaritas outstanding! considering this was my second opportunity to get out to eat in 3 weeks, i'm glad we chose this place!
table side guacamole is a must! freshly made in front of you and you get to choose all the ingredients they add to fresh shelled avocados. i was skeptical about sun dried tomatoes in the guacamole, but it worked very nicely along with the bacon. the only thing i would suggest is maybe an option to add blue cheese.
we split orders of ribs, shrimp tacos and sea bass tacos. the ribs were fork render with great flavor. we could have used a little more sauce. the shrimp tacos were good, but a bit under seasoned. they left a little to be desired. the sea bass tacos were absolutely the best thing we tasted and were outstanding. the chipotle sauce on the side was a great little kicker.
dessert included vanilla and chocolate ice creams, hand made sopapias, and churros with a real nice mild caramel style dipping sauce. all were excellent enders for the night! we will definitely be back for another visit and try other offerings and try to sit on the patio when the weather is good enough to enjoy it.

highly recommend mi dia for special occasions, delicioustableside guacamole, margaritas and unique dishes. on weekends you are going to want to make a reservation or better yet, book through the zomato app. if you don't make a reservation, be prepared to grab a drink and wait for an hour. my favorite margarita so far is the blueberry habanero infused. soooo good! sweet at first then a kick of heat at the finish. i always have the house specialty or the pabil. the pork is is tender from steaming in the banana leaf, and the street corn is roasted to perfection.

good food / poor management. i would like to start out by saying the food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. this would have been a 4.5 or a 5 if it hadn't been for the manager's (mike hiker?) attitude. we were seated outside on what started out as a pleasant 70 degree night. the wind was pretty strong, but as we walked to our seats i noticed how nice the heaters kept the patio. that is until we got to our table. it was so cold my kids were shivering so we asked if we could have a heater moved closer ( there was one that had clearly been moved very close to the bar and could have been moved evenly between both us and the bar and serviced us both) or move to anothertableinside. the manager informed me that it could be moved a little bit but that it wouldn't help (inside there was an emptytablewe could see the entire time that he said was seating in the next 10 minutes and actually was not seated for the remaining 45 minutes we were there). we waited 15 minutes and the heater was never moved. the manager finally came back out after i asked the waiter when it was going to be moved. he tried to say something about how hard it would be to move thetablewhere we were sitting closer to the heater. when i informed him that he had actually said he would move the heater he tried to deny it until he realized my mother had heard him too. when he did finally move the heater, he angrily kicked the cord back several feet so that it didn't move close to us (it looked like he was trying to hide the length of the cord). i then talked to the waiter - he finally moved it where i asked and it felt perfect! meanwhile my little kiddos and the rest of us were cold for almost the entire meal unnecessarily.

i'm not sure why the manager was so intent on not making our dinner a pleasant experience, but he definitely succeeded.

there is more, but i hate to pile on. thankfully our waiter was a nice guy.

food is wonderful, don't like the smoking on the patio.. we went to mi dia for the first time last night to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. we went a little before 6 and only had to wait 20 min. to be seated. the chips and salsa was outstanding as a starter. the mi dia house margarita is one of the best i have ever had. my husband had the street tacos and i had the new mexico tampiquina. my skirt steak was perfectly prepared and very tender. the entire dish was delicious. my husband added some of the extra salsa to his tacos and said they were wonderful. i would give the place a 5 star rating except for the fact that they allow smoking on the patio. we happened to be seated downwind from atableof women of which only one was smoking, but was a chain smoker. when we asked to move, we were told that it would be another 15-20 min. wait for anothertableinside or out. we stayed, but the constant smoke did put a damper on an otherwise wonderful meal. the 1 1/2 hrs. we were there, no other person smoked but this woman. at that rate, i think the restaurant could ban smoking all together and not lose any customers. in this day, most upscale restaurants do not allow smoking, even on their patios. i hope mi dia will take that into consideration.

bad service. my friend and i stopped by for lunch after i picked her up from the airport on oct 20th. the food was ok but when i asked fortableside guacamole she said there were 6 ahead of me and i felt like she was dissuading me from ordering it. there were not that many customers in the restaurant so i was quite surprised. i felt as though we were an inconvenience to her and the host. no one who worked there was friendly, not even a hello. that will be the last time i go to this eating establishment because there are so many other mexican restaurants to choose from in this area that provide better service. this is really a shame since you have a beautiful restaurant that is very open.
sorry to be negative but i fell you should know so that you don't lose business for something that could be corrected easily.

service sucked!!! i would like to review the food, however didn't get a chance to. i was meeting a few gals from out of town and got to the restaurant first. had a house margirita first at the bar and their chips and salsa...however chips were stale. then as i saw the patio getting full, i went up and asked the hostess if i could get atablefor 4. she immediatley tells me " i can't seat you", as i am an incomplete party. i said well their on their way and i want to get atablesober don't have to wait. i asked for the manager, who at first glance looked like i killed his puppy, automatically on the defensive, i explained my situation and tells me " i'm sorry i don't want you taking up my table, until your party is here"....i again said can i havetableon hold, he tells me " no, why would even ask if your whole party isn't here"....i mean 4 people makes a party? lol...well needless to say, i went to fireside pies instead, and won't be going back! as well anyone else i know, and blog about it to.

terrible service. food was good, but not enough to overcome lousy service on 4/18/2012. i was greeted by the manager at the hostess stand who was totally in the weeds. he was rude and insensitive to myself and others. when he was asked by one member of a large party in front of me how long it might be, the manager told this guy that the people currenty at thetablethey will be seated where welcome to stay because of how much money they had spent. while it is ok for that to happen, you don't tell other customers that. when i asked about my potential wait he just scoffed. the bar was not any better. although we were seated at the bar, we waited about 15 minutes for a beverage. we asked for chips but they never came. our waitress was even worse. she never came by, forgot to bring us plates with food so it was left to get cold. this place is a wanna be. bad bad service and crappy non-caring attitudes. avoid.
