horrible experience.
waited 45 min for our table by fountain, with 5 kids running around yelling and screaming running in and out of gated patio to restaurant. couldn't wait to be seated to get away from the noise. guess where we sat? right in their path on said patio. :/ waited anotherrr 45 minutes for our food. food arrived cold...and my plate, which was $28 dollars, was a small portion... my steak, which was supposed to be rare, was charred. beans and rice lukewarm.. not happy. i don't mind (at all) waiting...for "good", "hot" food....but when you wait 45 minutes-- to get cold, crappy, overcooked food it's just ridiculous.. not happy as i talked my date into taking me here, going on about how good it was the 1st time.
place was not hurting for customers...it's like the place to be, but no idea why. plenty of other consistently great places to go in dfw... manager did buy my date's meal, (at that point that's all we had as i'd sent mine back). i then skipped dinner, ordered amexicancoffee (and skimpy dessert, which the waiter decided on his own to upgrade by adding the tbs of ice-cream you see in the picture....and charged for)...coffee was another $10..and you guessed it. arrived cold. (??)
friday march 25, 2022.

update: so on yelp bryce from corporate responded to contact him. however, when i did email him, i never heard back. this tells me that the management really does not care. they just respond so they can "look" like they are trying to make it right, all the while knowing a) they never really plan to do anything to rectify, and b) you cannot respond to their response. i'll be calling their corporate.

good day. please read ms. hallmark's review of mi dia. it's very good and i agree with her on the ambiance and decor. her description of the chips and salsa is excellent as well. i had dinner with friends this afternoon and they enjoyed the newmexicantampequena and the camarones a la diabla. the camarones really seemed like a light entree. there were perhaps 6-8 shrimp and a small scoop of potatoes that the shrimp encircle. the sauces on these items was very piquant which was nice because most of themexicanand tex-mex restaurants in the metroplex are so bland i was beginning to think that north texans were afraid of a little heat. this restores my faith inmexicancuisine in this area. the newmexicantampequena was quite large and my friend remarked several times how good it was. i had the xmas burrito (chicken). it was very good. it was a large 10" tortilla with all of the usual culprits: chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, rice etc. it was probably a half a pound. it had a smoky red sauce and a bright flavorful green sauce. the sauce was hot but not so much that it overpowered the other ingredients.

service was good, not bubbly, and the reason may be that the restaurant must be busy all day long. we arrived late afternoon on a sunday, around three o'clock and the place was packed. kids are welcome here as you could not only hear, but see their animated selves. the atmosphere actually was quite pleasant. we did not have a long wait for our meals, and our server returned to our table numerous times to check up on us.

parking was not a problem, but we were there at an off hour. there are three or four other restaurants within thirty feet of each other which may take up a lot more of the parking spots and may cause problems at peak hours. in summary, a very good restaurant with attractive layout. good service and even better food.

food is great but the service is inattentive and below mediocre. i'm pretty sure we won't be coming back here. quite a disappointment that the service has deteriorated so much that i am discouraged from returning. not only deteriorated but the bartender is a __tch! ignored for 20 minutes between 5:52-6:15 with an empty drink and closed menus... the restaurant isn't even busy. when she finally offered to take our order she walked away i called her on it and her repsonse, "it's a bartender's job to multi-task." yes, like she was for the past 20 minutes? last time i was here she was totally inappropriate and flashed me... thank you amy for clarifying the quality and integrity of your establishment. i guess when i want nmmexicani will be cooking at home.

so good you might cry.. i adore mi dia, my wife and i have worked our way through almost the entire menu and have yet to find something we were disappointed with. chef de leon has masterfully crafted an innovate yet authentic menu that is revolutionizing and revitalizingmexicancuisine.

my favorite thing thus far has to be the duck carnitas or the quail, but everything is amazing. i would suggest getting a side of the habanero salsa, its fantastic.

the place is usually packed, the wait staff is fantastic but the hostesses seem to get overwhelmed easily and have a tendency to get bitchy, just deal with it, because this food will change your life.

pretentious.... but has an excellent restroom. the food is not so great, i still dont get why people think that because you paid 50x over the cost of rice and beans that it makes it good tex-mex ormexicanfood. well anyways i ordered the huevos rancheros and what i got was 1 layer of tortilla smothered in some chili sauce with 1 egg on top that barely even resembled and egg. that was it, that was my entree???? ive had way bettermexicanfood than this and for much less. don't get me wrong if you like paying for atmosphere instead of goodmexicanfood then this your spot. looks like you have some competition here joe t. garcias!

bad service. my friend and i stopped by for lunch after i picked her up from the airport on oct 20th. the food was ok but when i asked for table side guacamole she said there were 6 ahead of me and i felt like she was dissuading me from ordering it. there were not that many customers in the restaurant so i was quite surprised. i felt as though we were an inconvenience to her and the host. no one who worked there was friendly, not even a hello. that will be the last time i go to this eating establishment because there are so many othermexicanrestaurants to choose from in this area that provide better service. this is really a shame since you have a beautiful restaurant that is very open.
sorry to be negative but i fell you should know so that you don't lose business for something that could be corrected easily.

good food. ok so this isnt the bestmexicanfood ever but it is quite good and so were the drinks! our waitress was bazaar- kept asking personal questions and way over-sharing about her own life. nice patio and atmosphere. it would have been a possible repeat but after reading the other reviews i realized i was probably lucky just to have the weird waitress and not some horrible experience with the other staff.

love it!. in reading some of the reviews, i felt i wanted to give a different perspective. this is my favoritemexicanrestaurant right now. i love the margaritas (heart of the matter is my fave), the salsa, and the dishes (favorites: sopes (appetizer), duck tacos, chile relleno). the food is spicy, but i'm told they will modify the amount of spice if you ask. the dishes are unique, and the wait staff is knowledgeable and really seem to love their own food. the hostesses have always been kind to us. however, if you go at certain times on certain days, there's a pretty long wait...but i kind of think that's a good sign. love it/worth the money!

k&j_041412. i took my wife and her cousin to mi dia for dinner. very modern and upscale look inside and out. our waiter took very good care of us along with the manager who stopped by to check on us more than once.

i had the new mexico tampiquena and my wife and her cousin both had the ox eyes stacked enchiladas. we all enjoyed the meal and plan on coming back soon. i would highly recommend mi dia as a place to get traditional and more exoticmexicandishes.

disappointed. i love the ambiance of mi dia but was disappointed in the portion size and the food. it does not meet up to my expectations. probably would go there for happy hour and appetizers only.

frustrated. it's a beautiful restaurant and has a nice feel. i wish i felt the same way about the food which is marginal. if you eat a lot ofmexicanfood, you know the difference. they need to step it up or they won't be put on the same ole' chain restaurants list. for people who know the difference and willing to pay the price, i would only go back there for drinks. sorry, we expect more from the owners of bob's chop house.

wow! super!. ok the biggest challenge for all 4 restarurants at this location is parking...parking is a real pain...for a reason ...at least 3 of the 4 are top notch. havent tried the 4th yet.

we had dinner at mia dia last night and it was great. our server was very knowledgable and steered us to some super maragritas and helped with some menu selections. food was super, service was very good all around. my wife thought it was maybe the bestmexicanfood she has had ...ever. i recommend the relleno al carbon (stuffed with pulled pork ) and the mi casa plate.
anxious to try some of the new mexico style dishes...
but will try the steak & rellano next trip as it was my 2nd choice last night. there will definitely be a next trip and proabably soon.

right next door we have also enjoyed bobs and just recently, winewood...both really good in their "niches" .
hope to try fireside pies (pizza) soon.

my new favorite place. as a frequent diner at bob's in grapevine, i have watched with anticipation as this restaurant was built. so when i read on sidedish that this place was set to open october 3rd, i set up a date with a couple of girlfriends to check it out. first of all, let me just say wow! the ambience and set-up of this place is stunning! the restaurant has a very modern and open design. the entire back wall is made of glass which overlooks an enormous patio. the patio has its own bar with seating, along with at least 15 other tables. the coolest part was the huge fire pit. it was the perfect backdrop for enjoying fancy cocktails and amazing food, on a nice 68 degree night. this patio just beckons anyone passing by to stop, and i have no doubt that it will be the host of many lively evenings to come. seriously, the ambience was so cool that i would go back even if the food and service sucked....

...but they didn't. one of the first things i judge amexicanrestaurant by is their chips and salsa (duh). and lately it seems like most of my old standby's (unlce julios, mi cocina, pappasitos) have let their salsas go by the wayside. but the salsa here was a unique mixture of red and green, with a very unique flavor, spicy, and clearly fresh. the chips had a good medium consistency and were not greasy. since i usually like to order the most unusual items i can find at restaurants, we ordered the sopes and we ordered the tamales for my friends as an appetizer. the sopes are described on the menu as corn masa boats topped with pork belly, black beans, queso fresco, crema and salsa negra. they were full of flavor and the best part was that they were unique (as in not something that every othermexicanrestaurant makes). the tamales were fantastic! i had no idea tamales could be that good. the meat inside the tamales was tender and had a good kick to it.

for entrees we ordered the chile relleno stuffed with pulled pork, the duck carnitas, and the new mexico tampiquena. the chile relleno was stuffed with a ton of very tender and very flavorful pulled pork, but the thing i like most about it was the fact that it was not covered in batter and fried. the relleno was grilled, topped with a little queso fresco, and served over spicy red and green sauces. this type of preparation allowed me to really enjoy the flavor of the pork and the chile pepper. also, i didn't feel like a big greasy pig afterwards. i was skeptical about the duck carnitas since i usually find duck to be bland, but these ended up being my favorite entrée. the carnitas are served on four small fresh tortillas and topped with pickled onion and roasted poblano peppers. but what really made this dish stand out was the sweet and very, very spicy red sauce they served on the side. the new mexico tampiquena was a large skirt steak served with blue corn cheese enchiladas, rice, beans and guacamole. the server took a temperature on the skirt steak. this is very unusual in amexicanrestaurant and greatly appreciated by our group since we like our red meat medium-rare. the steak was tender and full of flavor.

by the time we moved on to dessert i totally full, of course, but there was no way i was going to pass on those desserts. finally, amexicanrestaurant in dfw besides javier's that actually put some thought into their desserts! we ordered themexicansmores and the empanadas. themexicansmores consisted of two thin graham crackers stuffed with a house-made marshmallow and thick peanut butter fudge, served alongside a scoop ofmexicanchocolate ice-cream. the plate was drizzled with cajeta and pomegranate sauces. their use ofmexicanice-cream and goat's milk cajeta is what really turned me on about this dish. i've always found goat's milk to give a richer and gourmet taste to everything. and the smores was very rich indeed. the empanadas were stuffed with goat cheese and guava gelee, and then served with a side vanillas goat cheese ice-cream and more of that luxurious cajeta sauce. i could seriously just order a bowl of the cajeta and be happy with that.

last but certainly not least, i have to tell you about the drinks! this place has an impressive drink menu. not only do they offer over 100 premium tequilas (so they told me), but they use fresh squezzed juice for everything. one of my friends ordered a watermelonmexicanmartini (tequila, cointreau, and lime juice) and they took a fresh slice of watermelon and juiced it right there for her drink! i had a drink called the blackbird. this one had tequila, squirt and a couple of other things, muddled with fresh blackberries and sage. it was sooo delicious, and even though i couldn't taste a lot of alcohol, my buzz told me it was there. my other friend ordered amexicanmartini flavored with serrano peppers and cilantro. i know it sounds weird but it was actually very good. . the drink itself tasted a little sweet at first with a nice kick at the end.

i want to live here! can you tell?
