horrible experience.
waited 45 min for our table by fountain, with 5 kids running around yelling and screaming running in and out of gated patio to restaurant. couldn't wait to be seated to get away from the noise. guess where we sat? right in their path on said patio. :/ waited anotherrr 45 minutes for our food. food arrived cold...and my plate, which was $28 dollars, was a small portion... my steak, which was supposed to be rare, was charred. beans and rice lukewarm.. not happy. i don't mind (at all) waiting...for "good", "hot" food....but when you wait 45 minutes-- to get cold, crappy, overcooked food it's just ridiculous.. not happy as i talked my date into taking me here, going on about how good it was the 1st time.
place was not hurting for customers...it's like the place to be, but no idea why. plenty of other consistentlygreatplaces to go in dfw... manager did buy my date's meal, (at that point that's all we had as i'd sent mine back). i then skipped dinner, ordered a mexican coffee (and skimpy dessert, which the waiter decided on his own to upgrade by adding the tbs of ice-cream you see in the picture....and charged for)...coffee was another $10..and you guessed it. arrived cold. (??)
friday march 25, 2022.

update: so on yelp bryce from corporate responded to contact him. however, when i did email him, i never heard back. this tells me that the management really does not care. they just respond so they can "look" like they are trying to make it right, all the while knowing a) they never really plan to do anything to rectify, and b) you cannot respond to their response. i'll be calling their corporate.

patio and table side guacamole!. sunday night with family and friends at mi dia.
the patio has to be one of the nicest in the dfw area. i really enjoy the covered open feel and it's not just a straight design with four sides and a pergola. it has some character! the margaritas outstanding! considering this was my second opportunity to get out to eat in 3 weeks, i'm glad we chose this place!
table side guacamole is a must! freshly made in front of you and you get to choose all the ingredients they add to fresh shelled avocados. i was skeptical about sun dried tomatoes in the guacamole, but it worked very nicely along with the bacon. the only thing i would suggest is maybe an option to add blue cheese.
we split orders of ribs, shrimp tacos and sea bass tacos. the ribs were fork render withgreatflavor. we could have used a little more sauce. the shrimp tacos were good, but a bit under seasoned. they left a little to be desired. the sea bass tacos were absolutely the best thing we tasted and were outstanding. the chipotle sauce on the side was agreatlittle kicker.
dessert included vanilla and chocolate ice creams, hand made sopapias, and churros with a real nice mild caramel style dipping sauce. all were excellent enders for the night! we will definitely be back for another visit and try other offerings and try to sit on the patio when the weather is good enough to enjoy it.

food isgreatbut the service is inattentive and below mediocre. i'm pretty sure we won't be coming back here. quite a disappointment that the service has deteriorated so much that i am discouraged from returning. not only deteriorated but the bartender is a __tch! ignored for 20 minutes between 5:52-6:15 with an empty drink and closed menus... the restaurant isn't even busy. when she finally offered to take our order she walked away i called her on it and her repsonse, "it's a bartender's job to multi-task." yes, like she was for the past 20 minutes? last time i was here she was totally inappropriate and flashed me... thank you amy for clarifying the quality and integrity of your establishment. i guess when i want nm mexican i will be cooking at home.

poor margaritas - not so friendly hostess!. my wife and i tried mi dia today for the first and last time. the facility is impressive with agreatpatio. the food was okay. however, when we walked in, the hostess was was very non-attentive. the waiter was very kowledgible with regard to the menu and very helpful. we ordered frozen margaritas, chicken fajitas and a chimichanga. the food was good, but the margaritas made with lemons was really lacking. when my wife commented to the waiter that we didn't care for the "lemon" margaritas, he suggested that we order "premium" tequila next time. from that point forward, he was rather cool towards us. we always order "house maragaritas" wherever we dine, and always enjoy them. next time we will go to la hacienda ranch and enjoy somegreat"house" margaritas made with limes.

tasty but presumptuous... there a some reallygreatdishes at mia dia. there are some nice people working here. there are also some very bland, blah items on the menu...and some super presumptuous, nearly rude employees. (womp womp)
do splurge and order new mexico tampiquena ($19). worth it, delicious. also, pollo agave ($17)--not your basic boring grilled chicken dish--reallygreatchicken w interesting sides. do not order the appetizer - esquites ($6)---boring...just some creamy, spiced corn and not much of it. i would stick to the special offerings here, ie, not the tex mex. these items would be better fared at other local tex mex spots--(think mi chula, mi cocina, cantina laredo, rio mambo).
the lunch can begreattoo--esp consider the scottish salmon (also offered at dinner). very fresh!
however-- regarding the staff, as many have commented, this can be a toss up. sometimes the host personnel are less than savory. one evening, i listened to a thirties-ish host? manager? at the host stand call customers 'idiots' after they decided to forgo the wait and left without telling him the name on the list. nice.
also--- there is no changing area in the restroom at mi dia for wee ones. this can present an issue if you do happen to bring your children. the hosts replied (upon bringing this up) "oh, yeah".
also---after meeting a friend for lunch one day-- a waitress snatched the lunch menus away from our table, citing, 'lunch is over now'. apparently, although we had arrived around 2:30, we had not ordered by 2:55--because we had taken a bit to get settled in and were talking. (it had been a couple years since seeing my friend and we had two small ones) we were told lunch would be impossible to order as the register would not longer recognize lunch orders. !
the food is pretty great, if you can sidestep or ignore some of the impolite staff...

what is wrong with these people?greatfood and bad attitude? ;(
