mi dia from scratch

horrible experience.
waited 45 min for our table by fountain, with 5 kids running around yelling and screaming running in and out of gated patio to restaurant. couldn't wait to be seated to get away from the noise. guess where we sat? right in their path on said patio. :/ waited anotherrr 45 minutes for our food.foodarrived cold...and my plate, which was $28 dollars, was a small portion... my steak, which was supposed to be rare, was charred. beans and rice lukewarm.. not happy. i don't mind (at all) waiting...for "good", "hot" food....but when you wait 45 minutes-- to get cold, crappy, overcookedfoodit's just ridiculous.. not happy as i talked my date into taking me here, going on about how good it was the 1st time.
place was not hurting for customers...it's like the place to be, but no idea why. plenty of other consistently great places to go in dfw... manager did buy my date's meal, (at that point that's all we had as i'd sent mine back). i then skipped dinner, ordered a mexican coffee (and skimpy dessert, which the waiter decided on his own to upgrade by adding the tbs of ice-cream you see in the picture....and charged for)...coffee was another $10..and you guessed it. arrived cold. (??)

update: so on yelp bryce from corporate responded to contact him. however, when i did email him, i never heard back. this tells me that the management really does not care. they just respond so they can "look" like they are trying to make it right, all the while knowing a) they never really plan to do anything to rectify, and b) you cannot respond to their response. i'll be calling their corporate.

ah-maz-ing! the atmosphere is 5/5, drinks are fun & original,foodis made from scratch. the wait time inside was long, but they sat is immediately on the patio. we were worried since it was a little cold outside, but they enormous heaters and we were perfectly comfortable. they also have giant fans, so it's probably comfortable in the summer, too. highly recommended!

great service and even better food! guacamole was to die for (highly recommend it) and thefoodtasted so authentic. i am from west texas and travelled to new mexico often. mi dia definitely reminded me of some of the awesome dishes i had there with hatch green chiles. the atmosphere and decor is very warm, modern and inviting. will definitely be back for sure!

i dream about their food!.foodis delicious and authentic and the place is very nice and service is great! i was there about a year ago and i can't wait to go again is more that hour drive for me but is worth the drive.

goodfood/ poor management. i would like to start out by saying thefoodwas delicious and the atmosphere was nice. this would have been a 4.5 or a 5 if it hadn't been for the manager's (mike hiker?) attitude. we were seated outside on what started out as a pleasant 70 degree night. the wind was pretty strong, but as we walked to our seats i noticed how nice the heaters kept the patio. that is until we got to our table. it was so cold my kids were shivering so we asked if we could have a heater moved closer ( there was one that had clearly been moved very close to the bar and could have been moved evenly between both us and the bar and serviced us both) or move to another table inside. the manager informed me that it could be moved a little bit but that it wouldn't help (inside there was an empty table we could see the entire time that he said was seating in the next 10 minutes and actually was not seated for the remaining 45 minutes we were there). we waited 15 minutes and the heater was never moved. the manager finally came back out after i asked the waiter when it was going to be moved. he tried to say something about how hard it would be to move the table where we were sitting closer to the heater. when i informed him that he had actually said he would move the heater he tried to deny it until he realized my mother had heard him too. when he did finally move the heater, he angrily kicked the cord back several feet so that it didn't move close to us (it looked like he was trying to hide the length of the cord). i then talked to the waiter - he finally moved it where i asked and it felt perfect! meanwhile my little kiddos and the rest of us were cold for almost the entire meal unnecessarily.

i'm not sure why the manager was so intent on not making our dinner a pleasant experience, but he definitely succeeded.

there is more, but i hate to pile on. thankfully our waiter was a nice guy.

so good you might cry.. i adore mi dia, my wife and i have worked our way through almost the entire menu and have yet to find something we were disappointed with. chef de leon has masterfully crafted an innovate yet authentic menu that is revolutionizing and revitalizing mexican cuisine.

my favorite thing thus far has to be the duck carnitas or the quail, but everything is amazing. i would suggest getting a side of the habanero salsa, its fantastic.

the place is usually packed, the wait staff is fantastic but the hostesses seem to get overwhelmed easily and have a tendency to get bitchy, just deal with it, because thisfoodwill change your life.

horrible experience, went to eat dinner got told by the waitress that that i was going to get kicked out. asked to speak to a manager, the manager confirmed and said that every party has a two hour limit and was offered to be outside during the winter and we only got a $17 discount there was another party that was there for more than two hours and was not asked to leave.foodwas great, service sucked. overall not pleased. it was out first and last experience. never been asked to leave before.

yes please!. mi dia is a breath of fresh air in the bland and overpopulated dfw mexicanfoodscene! i'm officially in love!
i love their red/green salsa blend,queso, table side guacamole,
quesadillas de huitlacoche, esquites, tamales,
relleno al carbon, pepita crusted seabass...mmmmm. just go. it's so good.

addendum: myfoodwas cold and i ate out on the patio in july!

pretentious.... but has an excellent restroom. thefoodis not so great, i still dont get why people think that because you paid 50x over the cost of rice and beans that it makes it good tex-mex or mexican food. well anyways i ordered the huevos rancheros and what i got was 1 layer of tortilla smothered in some chili sauce with 1 egg on top that barely even resembled and egg. that was it, that was my entree???? ive had way better mexicanfoodthan this and for much less. don't get me wrong if you like paying for atmosphere instead of good mexicanfoodthen this your spot. looks like you have some competition here joe t. garcias!

i had lunch here and really enjoyed. service was attentive andfoodservice was quick. try the duck taco's. they're great.

after reading some of the negative reviews we were somewhat apprehensive about dining here. however, our experience was outstanding at every encounter! prompt and friendly greeting, seated at our reserved time, speedy and knowledgable service and thefoodwas delicious!! can't wait to go back again. thank you mi dia for a memorable meal.

bad service. my friend and i stopped by for lunch after i picked her up from the airport on oct 20th. thefoodwas ok but when i asked for table side guacamole she said there were 6 ahead of me and i felt like she was dissuading me from ordering it. there were not that many customers in the restaurant so i was quite surprised. i felt as though we were an inconvenience to her and the host. no one who worked there was friendly, not even a hello. that will be the last time i go to this eating establishment because there are so many other mexican restaurants to choose from in this area that provide better service. this is really a shame since you have a beautiful restaurant that is very open.
sorry to be negative but i fell you should know so that you don't lose business for something that could be corrected easily.

easily the bestfoodi had on my trip to the dallas area this weekend. thefoodwas unique and the pineapple chipotle tequila on tap was so good sweet and spicy it was an amazing after dinner drink to sip on. would highly recommend and will eventually be back next trip

good food. ok so this isnt the best mexicanfoodever but it is quite good and so were the drinks! our waitress was bazaar- kept asking personal questions and way over-sharing about her own life. nice patio and atmosphere. it would have been a possible repeat but after reading the other reviews i realized i was probably lucky just to have the weird waitress and not some horrible experience with the other staff.

yum!. love this place! greatfoodand drinks! wonderful atmosphere!
