louie's wine dive

my husband and i ate here for lunch. he had the fish and chips and i had the honey butter chicken. thefoodwas not good but the drinks were tasty! service was good too, but i won't be eating here again.

went to this place for the first time the other night and had an awesome experience! the atmosphere was very welcoming and thefoodwas delicious. i had the gnocchi dish and was very impressed. i

nice enough atmosphere, attentive service, and a decent wine list, but thefoodis unimpressive. we split a cuban sandwich and fries. the fries were the sort of stuff you'd expect from a bag. the sandwich was more bread than pork and not even pressed in the usual cuban style. it's s new place, so with any luck lou's will find its footing.

approachable wine list and excellent food!. warm, yet energetic ambiance! the wine list is thoughtful and very approachable. the menu offers a range, but is not overwhelming - something for everyone. the shortribs are simply delicious! highly recommended to try.

yummy!. i guess having been 3 times this week means i don't like it, i love it! great for girls nights, happy hour, double dates etc. great service, yummyfoodand love the lively and upbeat atmosphere. i'm sure i will be back this week. welcome to the neighborhood louie!

i have worked in many bars and kitchens in my life. i know how hard the first few months after opening is and can be. with that being said, louies is doing amazing! i have been there 4 times since opening. seems like a lot i know, the wife love the smores. the main problems with the start of a restaurant is consistency with thefoodand service. all 4 times i have been, have been far above par. thefoodcomes out with the same look and taste every time, which shows the restaurant has good legs. the service has shown to be knowledgeable and the menu and wine selection as well as kind. i love this new addition to waldo! it's refreshing to have a new great place to go out for dinner that's not a bar in waldo. sure, there is a wait on friday and saturday night, and yes the kitchen gets backed up. but its worth the wait. in a few months this will be a waldo staple....and still on a 2 hour wait cause its that good!

food good, management not. we have been to louie's before and thefoodis great! the problem seems to be the maitre d. tonight, they lost our reservation and told us we could wait downstairs and have a drink and appetizer, until a table opened up. we went downstairs and there wasn't anywhere to sit, also didn't appear to have wait staff, you had to get drinks from the bar down there. the hostess could not tell us how long it might be to get a table.
we finally got fed up enough to leave and i told the hostess to take our names off the list as we were leaving. she was very apologetic and nice and offered us free appetizer coupons and said she'd bring the manager over.
the manager came over and did not know they'd lost our reservation. i told him what happened and he basically just stared at us and didn't really comment.
i'm not expecting anything for free, i don't mind paying for a good meal, what bothered me was the fact that i made our reservation early in the day and they somehow lost it and the manager didn't really seem to care, nor did he try to do anything about it.
i hope they figure the reservation system out, it is really a good restaurant in the neighborhood, but i won't expect to get a table with a reservation again, as this is the second time this happened, since the place opened a month ago!

so i had high hopes for this place since all of the reviews i've read have been glowing. myfoodwas fantastic and the wine selection is pretty good. they were pretty busy so maybe that was the reason for the not so swell service my fiancé and i received. they got our side salads out within a reasonable amount of time but then we waited and waited. and then they brought us a second round of salad. we told thefoodrunner we had already received our salads and had eaten them already. and then we waited. probably another 25 minutes passed before our meal was brought out to us. i got the 4 pork gnocchi. it was delish, i have to say. my fiancé got the roasted chicken. it was dry. all in all we waited about an hour and a half from when we placed our order to get our main course. and then we were never offered any sort of discount or anything off our bill. not even a salad comp. i will be back though because i'm hoping this was just a one time mess up. i really want to love this place.

just go to louie's already!!!. you won't regret your night at louie's wine dive. the atmosphere is casual and inviting. the selection of wines is top notch with something for every taste and budget. thefoodis expertly crafted and very flavorful with a homemade touch. the wine pairing that was recommended with the meal was excellent. i am learning about wines and louie's has made my experience a joy. there is no pretense about the staff toward those that do not know wines. the wine flights allow you to experience something new that you would not otherwise know about or even try. the pumpkin soufflé was the perfect way to conclude my meal. i will become a louie's wine dive regular.

went there on opening night. no place like it in kc. so awesome. wine lovers paradise. wine lovers who wear jeans and are real people. such a cool place with a great vibe.foodis good too. my new #1!!!
