louie's wine dive

excellent experience!. my husband and i took my grandparents here for dinner last night, as we live in the brookside area. we love this restaurant and my grandparents now agree! my grandfather is actually a caterer himself... this time i tried the salmon and sugarsnap peas dish, which came served on top of egg noodles in a light lemon dill sauce. i would highly recommend it!!! we also had a+ service, as well.

my first visit to louie’s wine dive in waldo was a very pleasant one. from the owners to the servers and bartenders, everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, and they all wanted us to be happy with our experience. we were there on a monday evening, during happy hour. i had heard that the noise in the restaurant can be deafening when full, but fortunately we were there at a time when it wasn’t packed, and they were playing great old tunes from the 70s and 80s. we could also see their unique wine program in action. they have a printed wine list, but also sell many bottles that are only listed on the big blackboard display. unlike most restaurants that sell certain wines by the glass and others only by the bottle, at louie’s they will open any bottle even if not typically offered by the glass as long as the diner/sipper commits to buying two glasses. every monday they have a fire sale with discounted glasses of wine that they need to move after a w

my husband and i ate here for lunch. he had the fish and chips and i had the honey butter chicken. the food was not good but the drinks were tasty! service was good too, but i won't be eating here again.

sunday brunch with a girlfriend.  what a fun time, two hour brunch, no rush, good visit.  both of us chose the crab cake benny and split a carafe of mimosas.  they use a really tasty champagne in the mimosas and they were better than most i've had.  the crab cake with breakfast potatoes was really delicious also.  plus the whole tab with the tip was like $53.00 which i found reasonable.  put this on your list of places to visit for sure (tip-go late, we went early and i got nothing done all day after those mimosas!)

best waiter rick. 1st timer. excellent service. fresh and exceptional food. thanks rick. you were one of the best in the city.

squeaky cheese. it's like small bite size mozzarella sticks, but it's not mozzarella, it's cheese curds, with a marinara sauce and a dill aioli that's great!

good food...but loud!. louie's was my 2nd choice after finding that next-door-neighbor gaf had closed only a few days before. i was looking for a quiet spot to read and enjoy a little dinner, but louie's really isn't the place to do that. it's a place to have a nice glass of wine and converse. and, there was plenty of that going on, and people seemed happy. i did have a glass of coppola's pinot noir and louie's bruschetta sampler, which had some very fun combinations and was very tasty. louie's is a chain, with locations in omaha and desmoines, but unique enough that it doesn't seem that way. not particularly fond of their website, which doesn't provide any information about their menu or wine selections, which are formidable.

read the reviews before trying it out, and it lived up to the positive feedback. the reuben was very good. another person in our party got the shrimp diablo and it was delicious as well. oh yeah, great selection of wine as well. thumbs up.

went to this place for the first time the other night and had an awesome experience! the atmosphere was very welcoming and the food was delicious. i had the gnocchi dish and was very impressed. i

recently had lunch there...terrific use of the space. warm, eclectic, and comfortable. great wine selection. my wife and i had the pork reuben and the 4pork gnocchi, both were great, but the gnocchi was exceptional. i'll be trying to re-create that dish at home!

fun and relaxed atmosphere. we stopped in for a drink on our way home from dinner and am very glad we did! i like that you are able to try different wines without committing to the whole bottle. the bartender was very helpful and took great care of us. because we had just come from dinner, we didn't order any food. however, we look forward to going back and trying several things that looked fantastic, in particular the whole brunch menu. with bottomless mimosas during sunday brunch, i imagine we'll be back sooner than later!

nice enough atmosphere, attentive service, and a decent wine list, but the food is unimpressive. we split a cuban sandwich and fries. the fries were the sort of stuff you'd expect from a bag. the sandwich was more bread than pork and not even pressed in the usual cuban style. it's s new place, so with any luck lou's will find its footing.

good local hangout. went for dinner w/ friends who know good wine. their list is good, and allows you to experiment without risking the purchase of an entire bottle. if you commit to two glasses they will open any bottle, you can try even their best!

food was above average, not knock your socks off, but makes you happy you got out with friends. we tried bruschetta sampler and were very happy with it -- they do some fun things with this plate. the short ribs were also very good as was the shrimp and grits, although wish it had some veggies in it. friend had a baked louie and all agreed this tasted like home made, had great flavor and good spice.

service was really great, just enough attention, good advice, friendly and warm. one of the owners came around too -- that makes a big difference so they know their own strengths and opportunities.

whole table agreed we want to be 'regulars' here and get there more often than other places. definitely worth the visit, make reservations, and prepare to relax and have a good time.

approachable wine list and excellent food!. warm, yet energetic ambiance! the wine list is thoughtful and very approachable. the menu offers a range, but is not overwhelming - something for everyone. the shortribs are simply delicious! highly recommended to try.

yummy!. i guess having been 3 times this week means i don't like it, i love it! great for girls nights, happy hour, double dates etc. great service, yummy food and love the lively and upbeat atmosphere. i'm sure i will be back this week. welcome to the neighborhood louie!
