this is the go-to thai resto. it's hard to find a thai cuisine that is as good as this one in manila, you'd need to go to tagaytay just totastethe goodness.

this is a hidden gem in tagaytay.   ambiance is quaint, food is tasty and parking is ample.  prices are reasonable for their generous serving sizes (each dish can be shared by 3 people with moderate appetites).  service is prompt and attentive.  surroundings and dinnerware are clean.  eating there is very relaxing with the garden-like ambiance, and you cantastethe freshness of their ingredients.  the resto is not pretentious at all like other over-hyped and over-priced restaurants in tagaytay.

first time trying this place with the fam & so glad we did! we celebrated new year's here because we've been hearing reviews about this place. a bit disappointed that some of the dishes we wanted to order such as the salted egg fried chicken was not available. however, we were super satisfied with the food and service. everything we ordered tasted divine! definitely one of my fave thai food places - even tops those in the metro.

a run down of what we ordered - we deliberately decided to order everything that is marked as their specialty!

(rating out of 5 stars)
pomelo salad - ⭐⭐⭐
generous with pomelo! really love the dressing! but would like it more if there were more chicken or greens. a change in texture perhaps aside from the pomelo.

fresh springrolls - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
we weren't a fan of fresh springrolls in general, but we ordered this because the fried ones were unavailable. however, it did not disappoint. once again, this restaurant's flavor is on point! the sauce is sweet, sour, spicy, very umami.

tom yum goong - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
i love this soup! and this place gets the right amount of sourness and spiciness. it makes you want to eat more!

pad thai - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
this is a winner for me! definitely one of the best pad thai's i've tried. i love the idea of the crunchy egg on top because once mixed in with the noodles, it gives a great texture. once again, the sauce and noodles combination is just right!

chicken with cashews - ⭐⭐⭐
this is what we ordered in place of the salted egg fried chicken. it's good, but it was okay. nothing special for me. can skip!

crispy tilapia with tamarind sauce - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
ugh! divine! you can't leave this place without trying this. i am more of a meat person, but all of us agreed that this fish dish is one of the main highlights of our dinner. the tamarind sauce really complements the fried fish with its right amount of sweetness and sourness.

crispy pork with red curry sauce - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
another stellar dish! the pork is tender and melts in your mouth, but the red curry sauce is simply delicious! one minor comment on the dish would be, to be more generous on the red curry sauce! we wanted to have more of it and place it in our rice. it was not too spicy, mild, but very delicious! i cantastethe coconut milk in the sauce and i just wanted more of it.

pineapple fried rice - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
another winner! this place, i can confidently say, perfected the recipe of their pineapple fried rice. we ordered this because it was a house specialty, even when we were already a bit familiar with pineapple fried rice in chinese cuisines. however, i love that this place added curry flavoring in their pineapple rice. just that tiny modification changed everything! because now, the pineapple's sweetness was not too hard or too overwhelming, but balances the aromatic curry in the rice.

mango sticky rice - ⭐⭐⭐
for dessert, we ordered mango sticky rice to end the meal. this dish was one of our favorites, but after tasting all the phenomenal entrées, i guess this one tasted okay - not so unique & can get some place else.

overall experience was amazing! we requested indoor seating because it was too cold outside. we're lucky to be able to do advance reservations on the day itself because towards the evening, guests were already lining up. so better secure your reservations first before dining here!

the portion of the food is generous plus thetasteis really good. the quality of ingredients are fresh. the restaurant right now might be a little hard to reach because the major load leading to it is closed, but if you have waze you can still easily find it. the restaurant is also big so there are enough seats for plenty of guest.

somewhat tucked away, but worth the effort. there's singha beer! try the soft shelled crabs! the service was delightful and the food was equally great. their spice ratings are a bit too conservative for ourtastebut it was a great getaway for our date night.

i decided to take the family here for something different - many thanks to zomato for the info.  though the place was not that difficult to find, getting there was quite a challenge.  we had lunch here last february 10, and there was a road construction going on.  the rough road that led to the restaurant was being cemented so vehicles had to take turns in crossing.

we were able to park inside since it was still a bit early - i made a reservation for four at one in the afternoon but we arrived before twelve.  even so, a table was already prepared for us.  it was quite a lovely corner of the patio, with a large bamboo couch with corner posts where a white fabric was draped for effect.  the place was a large home that was converted into a restaurant, housing quite a number of asian décor.  there was a large open area under a purple tent to accommodate more guests.  i would have liked to be seated there but the pictures would all turn up with an ube hue.

our lively kuya server - every staff we encountered was very friendly - suggested we start with the fresh spring rolls.  i was eyeing the crispy catfish with mango salad but decided to take on his suggestion.  one thing i was certain of, i was going to order the kaeng deng kha moo or crispy pata, simply because it was sinfully oily and fatty and it was a cheat day.  and i missed it so much.  i also ordered pla som rod or the crispy tilapia because we needed a seafood dish, to lessen the guilt of the previous order, even if it was also deep fried.  instead of individual servings of rice, kuya mentioned the catfish flakes fried rice and since i wanted something with catfish, this was a no brainer.  of course, a visit to a thai restaurant would not be complete without trying their version of pad thai.

as we waited for our orders to be served, a complimentary plate of crispy cracklings was brought to our table.  the family happily munched on this while i walked around the place and took some pictures.  and i noticed that the lunch crowd was starting to arrive.  good thing me made a reservation.

first to arrive were the spring rolls, six larger than bite size pieces, presented beautifully that i had to take a lot of pictures.  it was indeed fresh, and i had to grimace when i happened to bite upon a piece of cilantro - it's not one of my favorite herbs.  mom would have laughed at my expression if she was not busy slurping on her melon shake that she devoured in a few minutes.  but unfortunate incident with cilantro aside, i liked this slightly different take on the lumpiang sariwa because it was a lot spicier.  and i like that welcome crunch from the herbs and vegetables i get when i bite into a piece, just not that with the cilantro.

the tilapia dish was just...okay for me, it was a little sweet for my liking.  plus it was a while since i last had tilapia that i guess i outgrew the preference.  family loved it, though.  and props to the little garden of fried basil that covered the entire fish.

the crispy pata was...yummy.  sorry for lack of a better term but it was simply what every crispy pata should be.  i liked that the skin was fried to a crisp but it was not as tough that you would have a hard time chewing on it.  it was crispy, crunchy and the slightest chewy - on the good side.  the crisp meat part was also tender on the inside, despite the golden brown, toasted exterior.  they served this dish with a curry sauce on the side, again a little sweet.  but since the meat was seasoned just right, the sauce was not really necessary, in my opinion.  i was, kind of, missing the sourness from pinakurat at this moment to cut through that umay factor from all that fat.  by the way, serving was big.

the rice...was a meal by itself.  it could be eaten on its own with all that going on in that mountain of a serving, seriously it was huge.  you have to try it to know what i mean.  it was simply delicious.  thank you kuya for suggesting this.

because we wanted to leave room for dessert, we opted to have the pad thai for take out.  the kao neiw mamaung (really, these thai words are giving me a headache to spell) or the sticky rice with mango was simply that, sticky rice with mango.  the sticky rice was gelatinously soft and sweet while the yellow mango arranged like a rose on top was tart.  the princess and i loved pouring the coconut sauce placed on a tiny white pitcher placed on the side.  it resembled thetasteof the sabaw of ginataan, on the thicker side.  a little pricey, but it was something worth trying.

their house blend iced tea was good, not that clear and sugary one you get from some restaurants.  but i suggest the tamarind shake.  the slightly sourtastewill help cut through all that fatty taste, as well as the sweetness.

the pad thai, as well as the other leftovers that we had, was still good when reheated.  it had generous pieces of chicken and shrimps.  and i liked the way they toasted the scrambled egg, like it was a crispy, thick golden cloud on top of the noodles.  so far, this has to be my favorite take on the dish, even if it was a reheat.

all in all, a great lunch.  quite a challenge to get to the location because of the rough and narrow road.  it's no surprise why people flock to the place even if it is tucked away from the more popular side of the area.  food was great, meant for sharing (better if you come in a group so you can sample more dishes).  place was comfortable.  service was very commendable.

just a suggestion, try to make a reservation before coming here, to be sure.  there is bound to be a waitlist on weekends.

lime and basil

🥗 lime and basil house salad
| fried egg | basil | lettuce | peanut | shallots | tamarind dressing

🍽️ presentation : 5/5
• i'd say that it amazes and captures my attention when i saw those little flower petals on the salad and it's really looks appetizing

🍽️taste: 3/5
• in this part, well i think we have differenttastebuds when it came to food preferences but for me, i really do like how the ingredients blends in but didn't expect the tamarind dressing to be a little salty than to be sour ⬅️ prefer to be like a vinaigrette salad

🍽️ ingredients : 4/5
• i like how the lettuce, fried egg, peanuts blends to shallots and tamarind dressing (if it wasn't that salty). i can reallytastethe freshness of the vegetables and yeah the flower petals are edible and the basil ⬅️ like it so much coz its crunchy and fresh so the flavors stays there

🍗 gai thod
| tamarind glazed chicken wings |

🍽️ presentation : 3/5
• yes! it's definitely chicken, how can this be so different, ok! l'll give this a 3/5 rating coz of the flower petals and some herbs ⬅️ making it appetizing.

🍽️taste: 3/5
• why? the sauce is same with the salad which is tamarind. ok! after tasting it, i'd say the sauce matches the chicken but should be less salty!

🍽️ ingredients : 4/5
• chicken and glazed with tamarind sauce ⬅️ looks very appetizing, the chicken is also not dry, the tamarind sauce a bit salty but blends through the chicken wings

🍝 pad thai

🍽️ presentation : 4/5
• yes! amuses me with the scrambled egg that looks like an angel hair pasta and flattens above the pad thai, of course- the bean sprouts which is fresh and uncook but yea can be eaten coz it's veggie

🍽️taste: 3/5
• ittastesweet and nutty and it blends with the egg if you eaten it with the noodles and of course the bean sprouts blends all thetastewithin. also, my favorite shrimp! ⬅️ not bad!

🍽️ ingredients : 4/5
• flat noodles, egg, peanuts and bean sprouts with a little squeeze of lime makes all the ingredients blends well and the noodles are not chewy

🍢 sate gai
| grilled chicken skewer | peanut sauce | cucumber salsa

🍽️ presentation : 4/5
• why? looks well cook, the char in the chicken are well balance, the peanut sauce presents well above the chicken and yes! the salsa on the right side

🍽️taste: 4/5
• i like thetastecoz the chicken ( sate flavor )blends well with the sweet peanut sauce on top and lots of peanut garnish but the cucumber salsa is alsotastesweet ⬅️ prefer to be sour so that it can have a contrast of flavor with the skewered chicken

🍽️ ingredients : 4/5
• all looks blended and it's a good appetizer for those hungry stomach!

other rating:
☑️ambience 3/5 : small but peaceful
☑️parking space 3/5 : not spacious , only few cars can park, but some can be park outside
☑️service 3/5: well accomodating but lessens when already too many customers
☑️taste profile based on the food ordered : more of on the sweet taste

had lunch for the first time at this place and the dining experience was disappointing. ordered the tom yum soup and chicken pandan. the former’stastewas mediocre while the latter was bad. the chicken was dry and not tender. it’s like it was cooked yesterday and was re-fried for our serving (see photo). i complained the pandan to one of the waiter who didn’t answer a word. i told another waiter who replied that he will just mention it to their kitchen. bad food and bad customer service. two thumbs down.

the ambiance here is quite zen and beautiful. it was really hot when we arrived but they had fans set up as soon as we were seated. i really enjoyed the tamarind shake as you can reallytasteits authenticity. however the serving sizes for our other orders were quite small as it might not be for sharing. the chicken with almondstastequite good though and packed with flavor. the spring rolls we ordered were quite tasty and easy to bite even though it is packed with a lot of veggies
