we tried their crispy catfish salad, shrimps in a blanket, the steamed lapu lapu in lime dressing, theirchickensate, and the pineapple rice. the shrimps in a blanket were fairly straightforward, nothing too notable about them. the crispy catfish salad was pretty good. the steamed lapu lapu has a very very delicate flavor, others might find it a bit bland for their taste, but the fish was very well cooked. the pineapple rice and thechickensate were both just fine. overall i wouldn't say that the food is that much of a standout, but there's no better thai food in the area, and the location is very picturesque, making it an ideal place for special occasions.

so i mistakenly posted on my ig stories now my pics are gone! oh well— review is what matters so here goes:

thai food here is excellent! i loved all their dishes especially the soft shell crab salad and pad thai! theirchickensatay not only is very tender and tasty but was good enough to share for up to 3 people. we also had the pineapple fried rice with prawns and i absolutely loved that as well.

i’d skip the spring rolls as i’ve had better elsewhere and missed the shrimp or crab that usually came with it. the variety here is all veggie so it would be good for hard core vegetarians.
the ambiance is very relaxed and cozy. date night or fambam bonding would be very nice here.

service was really warm and the staff are quick to take your order and can explain the menu really well.

good place to escape from the city hustle and the price won’t break the bank. against cafe voila — the servings here would be the deal breaker. as for taste, i’m honestly torn because both are very good. try it for yourself!

tried lime and basil out on the way back from our trip to batangas. ❤️ gotta say, we all made a good choice choosing this place. not only did the place look cute and cozy with their thai decor, garden and homey atmosphere... the food looked and tasted great too! 🤤

⭐️ pomelo salad: pomelo was sweet, and the overall flavor profile of the salad was a mix of spicy, salty and sweet. best salad i ever had! and that says a lot, since i’m generally picky with salads. 🥗

⭐️ pad thai: the crunchy stuff on top turned out to be egg! 😮 noodles were sweet and salty, and springy too! it came with bits ofchickenand is best enjoyed with a dash of lemon juice on it for a sour flavor that binds it all together.

⭐️ sticky rice with mango: great way to end the meal with something sweet! mangoes were delicious, and the sauce that came with it was a mix of milky and sweet. nice contrast to the sticky rice! 🍚

i've known this place for the longest time but its my first time to dine here. i've been to different thai restaurants but this is the best.

if its your first time, try their best sellers like the spring rolls, pineapple rice, salted egg friedchickenand pad thai. 5/5

even the drinks are really good and refreshing, especially the iced lemongrass tea and tamarind juice.

ambiance: 5/5 the place is al fresco and gets packed during the weekends, so its better to have a reservation.

service: 5/5

good place, good food. location was not hard to find. huge parking at the back. alfresco dining is available. pet friendly. prices were mostly between 300-400 per serving but the serving size was good enough for 2-3 people. too bad they don’t serve the famous thai omelet/omelette. we loved the fresh spring rolls andchickenwrapped in pandan.

first time trying this place with the fam & so glad we did! we celebrated new year's here because we've been hearing reviews about this place. a bit disappointed that some of the dishes we wanted to order such as the salted egg friedchickenwas not available. however, we were super satisfied with the food and service. everything we ordered tasted divine! definitely one of my fave thai food places - even tops those in the metro.

a run down of what we ordered - we deliberately decided to order everything that is marked as their specialty!

(rating out of 5 stars)
pomelo salad - ⭐⭐⭐
generous with pomelo! really love the dressing! but would like it more if there were morechickenor greens. a change in texture perhaps aside from the pomelo.

fresh springrolls - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
we weren't a fan of fresh springrolls in general, but we ordered this because the fried ones were unavailable. however, it did not disappoint. once again, this restaurant's flavor is on point! the sauce is sweet, sour, spicy, very umami.

tom yum goong - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
i love this soup! and this place gets the right amount of sourness and spiciness. it makes you want to eat more!

pad thai - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
this is a winner for me! definitely one of the best pad thai's i've tried. i love the idea of the crunchy egg on top because once mixed in with the noodles, it gives a great texture. once again, the sauce and noodles combination is just right!

chicken with cashews - ⭐⭐⭐
this is what we ordered in place of the salted egg fried chicken. it's good, but it was okay. nothing special for me. can skip!

crispy tilapia with tamarind sauce - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
ugh! divine! you can't leave this place without trying this. i am more of a meat person, but all of us agreed that this fish dish is one of the main highlights of our dinner. the tamarind sauce really complements the fried fish with its right amount of sweetness and sourness.

crispy pork with red curry sauce - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
another stellar dish! the pork is tender and melts in your mouth, but the red curry sauce is simply delicious! one minor comment on the dish would be, to be more generous on the red curry sauce! we wanted to have more of it and place it in our rice. it was not too spicy, mild, but very delicious! i can taste the coconut milk in the sauce and i just wanted more of it.

pineapple fried rice - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
another winner! this place, i can confidently say, perfected the recipe of their pineapple fried rice. we ordered this because it was a house specialty, even when we were already a bit familiar with pineapple fried rice in chinese cuisines. however, i love that this place added curry flavoring in their pineapple rice. just that tiny modification changed everything! because now, the pineapple's sweetness was not too hard or too overwhelming, but balances the aromatic curry in the rice.

mango sticky rice - ⭐⭐⭐
for dessert, we ordered mango sticky rice to end the meal. this dish was one of our favorites, but after tasting all the phenomenal entrées, i guess this one tasted okay - not so unique & can get some place else.

overall experience was amazing! we requested indoor seating because it was too cold outside. we're lucky to be able to do advance reservations on the day itself because towards the evening, guests were already lining up. so better secure your reservations first before dining here!

can’t believe it was our first time to visit today. the food is prepared fresh, seasoned just right, prepared and presented with care. the staff is courteous and took real good care of us including a birthday song for my mil. :) would definitely visit again. the price is just right. we tried tom yum (and requested for mildly spiced, which was still good), fresh spring roll, pad thai, chickenin pandan leaves, sticky rice with mango and believe it or not...crispy pata! the latter was served with curry sauce in a separate bowl. they even gave my mil free dessert.
thank you, lime and basil.

not really a fan of thai food because the dishes in their menu are always complicated to understand. 😅 thankfully, their menu had... "subtitles" and i was with friends who are knowledgeable on thai food so i just put them in-charge of ordering while i put myself in-charge of eating. 😂

our orders were being served to us one by one and yet i didn't really know what they were. 😅 in spite of my ignorance of what we were actually eating, everything was good! the moo grob, which was crispy pork belly and pork rind in cucumber relish, was reminiscent of our own kilawin na baboy. we would have ordered sate gai, which was grilledchickenskewers, but at the time it wasn't available. my absolute favorite would have to be their kao pad saparod or pineapple fried rice. it already had chiang mai sausage mixed in so it was already good even without ulam.

at this point, we were already too full to have dessert so we just ordered their thai iced tea and it was the perfect sweet ending to our sumptuous dinner.

aside from the obvious beautiful ambiance of lime and basil thai restaurant, another thing to be commended is their servers! they were very helpful and were always smiling! 😁

secluded in the deeper tagaytay area, lime and basil thai restaurant is perfect both for romantic dates with your significant other and for intimate get-togethers with friends.

been here 3x already, and always we leave full, delighted and impressed with the food. my husband and i were not really fans of thai food until we tried lime and basil. love the pad thai so much that we always order 2, one to take home because i discovered that it tastes better the next day after reheating it.

the other best part is their thai iced tea(milk tea)! while it can be too concentrated, i can always ask for more ice, so i get to drink more 😆
the best thai iced tea i've tasted so far.

also like the beef andchickencurry and tom yum.

the place has serene surroundings and it's a great escape from the crowded restaurants in tagaytay.

definitely going back there on our next tagaytay trip.

great dining experience! but, i do command you to make a reservation, since there are huge ambiance differences as to the seats for the reserved ones compared to the walk-ins.

they served a complimentary serving of kropek to start our meal. the kropek lacked a bit of more cooking as some pieces were not fully crispy, but this was compensated by their calamansi (i think) based dip which had a thick consistency. it was also sweet, perhaps it had some honey?

we had the fresh spring rolls, mainly filled with veggies dominated by cabbages. it also had a unique sweet, sour, with a kick of spice sort of sauce that made the dish a winner.

i like the pad thai best though. it was a refreshing dish with the complimenting sweet and sour flavors that made the dish a standout. it was well complimented by the crispy togue and the perfectly cooked shrimps with it.

thechickensatay was cooked to perfection. it had the flavor of tandoori spices that was balanced by the ultra nutty peanut sauce that came with it.

the bagoong rice was delicious! it was kinda sticky, like it’s as if it used japanese rice. it could be improved by adding flavor or salt to the pork cuts, plus adding more spiciness to the rice. but overall, it was great. i loved their thai iced tea too! it was creamy and sweet, but not too sweet.

i’d definitely come back.
