lime and basil thai restaurant

this is the go-to thai resto. it's hard to find a thai cuisine that is asgoodas this one in manila, you'd need to go to tagaytay just to taste the goodness.

so i mistakenly posted on my ig stories now my pics are gone! oh well— review is what matters so here goes:

thai food here is excellent! i loved all their dishes especially the soft shell crab salad and pad thai! their chicken satay not only is very tender and tasty but wasgoodenough to share for up to 3 people. we also had the pineapple fried rice with prawns and i absolutely loved that as well.

i’d skip the spring rolls as i’ve had better elsewhere and missed the shrimp or crab that usually came with it. the variety here is all veggie so it would begoodfor hard core vegetarians.
the ambiance is very relaxed and cozy. date night or fambam bonding would be very nice here.

service was really warm and the staff are quick to take your order and can explain the menu really well.

good place to escape from the city hustle and the price won’t break the bank. against cafe voila — the servings here would be the deal breaker. as for taste, i’m honestly torn because both are very good. try it for yourself!

lime and basil thai restaurant is like a home away from home. we were seated outdoors. it was cozy and serene, which gave us a feeling that we were in our own garden.

the food was outstanding. each of the meal we ordered was flavorful and fresh. i consider this restaurant as the best thai restaurant i've been to yet.

recommend: make sure to try their fresh spring rolls, yam som o salad, kaeng deng kha moo (crispy pata with red curry sauce), pad thai, and thai iced tea!

skip: gai hor bai toey (chicken pandan). it was too dry for my taste.

the service wasgoodbut not outstanding. although our server was attentive, i do wish that he was more friendly and smiled more. this didn't bother me too much since the ambiance and food were amazing.

will definitely go back! ❤️

in terms of service, ambiance, price, taste, for me its perfect. highly recommended dishes are the pad thai, tom yum, fresh spring rolls. serving isgoodfor 2-3 persons. a must visit in tagaytay.

tried lime and basil out on the way back from our trip to batangas. ❤️ gotta say, we all made agoodchoice choosing this place. not only did the place look cute and cozy with their thai decor, garden and homey atmosphere... the food looked and tasted great too! 🤤

⭐️ pomelo salad: pomelo was sweet, and the overall flavor profile of the salad was a mix of spicy, salty and sweet. best salad i ever had! and that says a lot, since i’m generally picky with salads. 🥗

⭐️ pad thai: the crunchy stuff on top turned out to be egg! 😮 noodles were sweet and salty, and springy too! it came with bits of chicken and is best enjoyed with a dash of lemon juice on it for a sour flavor that binds it all together.

⭐️ sticky rice with mango: great way to end the meal with something sweet! mangoes were delicious, and the sauce that came with it was a mix of milky and sweet. nice contrast to the sticky rice! 🍚

authentic thai dining experience, from the food and drinks down to every piece of plate, glass, and dinnerware used. excellent service, flavor-packed meals withgoodvalue for you money. will definitely return for the food and the ambience.

just one dish is enough to rate this a 5 star! khao soi - excellent rendition here with amazingly tasty soup with egg noodles & chicken. som tam was refreshing. chicken pandan was ok.goodservice!

i've known this place for the longest time but its my first time to dine here. i've been to different thai restaurants but this is the best.

if its your first time, try their best sellers like the spring rolls, pineapple rice, salted egg fried chicken and pad thai. 5/5

even the drinks are reallygoodand refreshing, especially the iced lemongrass tea and tamarind juice.

ambiance: 5/5 the place is al fresco and gets packed during the weekends, so its better to have a reservation.

service: 5/5

good place,goodfood. location was not hard to find. huge parking at the back. alfresco dining is available. pet friendly. prices were mostly between 300-400 per serving but the serving size wasgoodenough for 2-3 people. too bad they don’t serve the famous thai omelet/omelette. we loved the fresh spring rolls and chicken wrapped in pandan.

friendly people. food is amazing! crispy pork is out of this world crazy delicious. never had one anywhere asgoodas theirs. skin is crunchy and meat melts in your mouth. all their food is great, it's just that porky morsel is top-notch. will be back real soon. must eat here when in tagaytay.

the gf and i spent our anniversary getaway this week in cozy tagaytay, and we were looking for a new place to dig in before we head back to manila. fortunately, we found lime and basil here in zomato!

tip: use waze when going here as the roads leading to it will get confusing (there was a closure on one of the main roads leading to the resto when we visited) and it is not along the main tagaytay-calamba road

food: (4.5/5) we enjoyed all our orders but most especially the bagoong rice, tom yum and the catfish salad. legit thai food and will give any thai resto here in the country a serious run for their money. portions were very big,goodfor two to three people to share, but flavorful enough that one very hungry person could finish! i liked the iced thai coffee i ordered also, and such a shame, that we were so full by the end of the main courses that we weren’t able to order dessert

place: (5/5, if pwede 6/5 pa!) lime and basil is what every resto in tagaytay should look and feel like. peaceful, clean, surrounded by nature. you’ll forget all the hustles and bustles of life when you dine here, as you’ll get inspired by the serenity around you. the only small downside is the lack of parking space, though there’s a person who will assist and lead you to where you can park outside the resto.

service: (5/5) as previously stated, there’s someone who will help you from the moment you park your car. servers were also gracious enough to find us a table even if we we didn’t have a reservation, and service was very very quick. waiting time for food was faster than what we expected for a place so full.

value for money: (5/5) the price more than justifies the quality and the amount of food served to you. as said before, all orders weregoodfor sharing and they even have complimentary fish crackers with a yummy fish sauce-calamansi dip.

i highly recommend everyone to try and dine at lime and basil when they go to tagaytay. it’s well worth the drive!

food wasgoodas always, but service was horrible. staff preferred to gossip instead of attending to their clients' needs. our toddler accidentally spilled someone's drink on the table, but no waiter came to help as they all had their backs against us as they gossiped by the counter. however, when we called them to help, they did. they gave us the wrong order even after we clarified the order earlier. the staff who delivered our food didn't even know what he was giving us. when we asked, he called another staff member to explain the dish. the other staff just took a quick peek as he was serving others and guessed what it was. the staff member we initially asked mumbled as he repeated what the other had said (which was the thai name, not the english ingredients) and ran off before we could ask what "poo pad nam prik" was.

verygoodfood, nice place with tasteful decorations. only let down was the one-person, all-gender lavatory which always had a line (of course).

everything you would look for in a restaurant is here. great menu, fast and kind service,goodambience, delicious food plus the owner is really kind. highly recommended!

aroi mak! means delicious in thai and this is exactly what lime and basil has to offer delicious & authentic thai food!

we decided to have our dinner in this well-known but hidden thai restaurant in tagaytay it was searchable in waze though, but if you are planning to go dinner time like us the roads were a bit dark.

let me start with their complimentary crackers. it was so good! specially the dipping vinegar, it was refillable so you wouldn’t mind waiting for your food.

poh pia moo - their version of fried spring rolls, it was the biggest fried spring roll i’ve ever seen! it was “siksik” and lots of meat inside; flavor was sogoodand well complimented by the sweet chili relish.

pad thai - no words for this, super delish, generous amount of protein and the egg floss gives it a little more crunch.

yam som o - i really liked the dressing of their pomelo salad, but the pomelo itself was a bit sour but still it was good.

chicken with cashew - this was reallygoodbut make sure you pair with rice as it was a bit overwhelming to eat on its own.

we got 2+2 on drinks using zomato gold and i must say; their thai iced tea is sooo delish! super same lasa like the one i had in thailand. will definitely come back here soon!
