my girlfriend and i went to the lawrence for the weekend brunch and we were not disappointed. i had the crispy pork infused polenta with bacon, sunny side eggs, and quite possibly the best toast i have ever eaten. this place delivered onfoodand beyond. the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. the decor is warm, inviting, cozy, and bright. amazing place. definitely a gem and will be going back next time i'm in montreal.

went for brunch.  perhaps after reading so much about it, i expected too much.  the menu is orignal and thefoodwas quite good, but the prices were too high for what you got.  too much pomp for what it is.  one thing that particularly irked me is that the coffee was not included.  i know 3$ is not much overall, but coffee costs so little to a restaurant, and the prices of the plate is so high that they should just include it with brunch service like all other restaurants do.

maybe i expected too much from the very popular restaurant. visited them for lunch with a friend and was quite surprised at the quality of food. yes, on the menu it sounded very appetizing and i was so excited to try my food. when i got it, i was surprised at the portion a little bit and the taste. thefooditself was very good, but i guess i expected a wow factor, which i didn't get. it also was quite expensive for lunch ($50/2 people with 2 small dishes each). i might return for brunch since they're so highly praised for it, but not for lunch or dinner.

good but not great. the place is small and simple. the service is friendly. when you read the menu it sounds appetizing and inventive but when thefoodshows up, it slightly loses its appeal.

lawrence had evaded us for quite some time. we kept hearing rave reviews about their brunch, their butcher shop next door, and their delightful english fare. finally it took a friend from paris to stroll into town to wake up the cousins, p’tit frère and diva #1 to plan a nice night out amongst family and friends. lawrence is high end englishfoodspecializing in meaty dishes. if the restaurant wasn’t well known enough, their butcher shop ensures that they have the freshest meat and the best cuts. lawrence is known for a menu that changes daily which is accessible via their twitter account: @lawrencefood. you can check out the day’s menu before to make a reservation. diva #1, her cousins, p’tit frère, sweet pea and mr. sheffield all went to lawrence to celebrate the return of our friend from paris. after a lot of teasing, discussions about our soccer team, plans for halloween, etc, we finally got organized enough to order.

overall, everything i tasted was absolutely amazing (i had a bite of wangfood’s pig trotter). i will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes (perhaps with tfung). service was good, i didn’t ever have to wait to get what i wanted, they seemed to know and came over fairly promptly. the restaurant seats about 30, which may be the reason that service is more manageable. if you haven’t tried this amazing brunch place, please do! it’s also situated near lots of other amazingfoodjoints (voro, kem coba, fairmount bagels) as it’s on fairmount and st laurent.

montreal: you’ve come a long way, baby. when i lived in vermont from 1988 to 1999, i made many trips to montreal in desperate search for more diverse food. my typical day might include the mandatory smoked meat sandwich at schwartz’s, dinner and grocery shopping in chinatown, and the pick-up of a couple of bags of bagels from fairmount bagel. during those years, the dining scene wasn’t especially sophisticated. nor was my palate. far too many miles from montreal now, i rarely get back. so when a recent business trip to upstate new york gave me montreal as a choice of airports, i pounced on the opportunity to pay a visit.foodchoices are now far more fabulous. needless to say, i stuffed myself silly, sloshing through the snow and sacrificing my stomach to make the most of my very limited time in the city. the result: i have recommendations of restaurants and more for an idyllic day of eating in this special city. breakfast whatever time you wake up, know that bagels are waiting. both f

the maitre d' is very rude - he keeps a list that is a prop to be able to work in regulars. i would be cautious with this statement but after being seated he was telling the "new guy" how he "works the list" they don't turn over tables so after waiting an hour and half it gets a bit annoying to see half the room treating the place as a coffee shop. we were told it would be at most 45 mins. thefoodis just ok but nothing special- i would echo the comment that one could easily cook the stuff for yourself. the owner should rethink the front of house and fire the maitre d' - there is no point eating here nothing special. it's sad there is some amazing places to eat in montreal unfortunate to waste a lot of time at this place.

thefoodwas different (combinations) but not necessarily good. we didnt really enjoyed the 3 plates we had..! it was definitely too expensive for what it was. so i won't recommend it for dinner because there are plenty of better restaurants in montreal, but i liked it for brunch.

i was loooking for a good brunch place that i hadn't tried before, well, it was the perfect place! the menu is short but be assured that you have enough good choice! the 2 plates we tried were both very good! the waiter was amazing too he took the time to explain the entire menu and even showed me the menu for dinner, looked yummy! ***tips: all local products, brunch menu changes often, every season. tax included.

happy place. i've been to lawrence twice. once because i was stuck at the airport for 8 hours due to a cancelled flight and decided to cab it to lawrence and once with my wife and another couple. firstly thefoodis great. i have tried most things on the menu as i tend to order many different dishes for the table to share and they were all great. more importantly, i find that service in montreal generally sucks. either the staff is un-informed, not friendly, too affected, in a rush, not experienced, or just plain old poor montreal service. lawrence is the opposite. what made my two visits that much more enjoyable was the fantastic service, the smiles and the genuine care from the entire staff. bravo!

nyc in mtl. very hip... very cool... very nyc... the brunches are pretty good.. hits the spot.. dinners are so so... a tad pricy for something with no "wow" factor. the fresh oysters.. amazing however..! overall.. a nice addition to the montrealfoodscene. :)

everything – from entrees to desert (except the espresso) – was turbo tasty and i’d find it hard to believe that there’s something on the menu that isn’t put together with immense passion and love for food. while thefoodis of high quality, the price per portion is also quite high and so you can expect to spend between 50-80$ per person for a complete meal. the high price though is not only justified by the greatfoodbut also by the great service. every waitress/waiter i encountered was eager to please and very welcoming. besides their cool hipster-esque outfits, they all had spunky attitudes and had great input on every dish on the menu – really the way service should be at a restaurant. on top of it all, their experienced sommelier etheliya hananova was very bubbly and helpful in matching the right wine for the right dish.
