we had breakfast after getting off the spirit of tasmania and we were really glad we found it. laneway was a very ‘melbourne’ cafe, with a good variety on the menu and good service. yummy scrambled eggs and the egg and bacon roll was huge. it’s housed in an old bakery, which was very cool!

3.5- seems to be the place to go if you’ve just off the spirit, avoided buying food on there and therefore hungry as anything. coffee was pretty good and food was perfectly wholesome to fill up some tired yet hungry tummies. the vibe was pretty warm and cozy, a perfect way to start your tassie holiday

i’d read great reviews about this place and the food didn’t disappoint! be prepared for a bit of a wait though, especially when coming off the ferry, it seemed to be organised chaos with many people coming in after us. ring served before us! when the food eventually arrived though it was absolutely worth it - very tasty! make sure to get the miso mushrooms, i stole my husbands off his plate they were that good!!! the coffee wasn’t very strong but actually still really tasty!!

it can be tough finding a nice cafe to relax in for an early breakfast when spirit of tasmania arrives at devonport around 6:00am. depending on the day of the week, there are few options that serve this early in the morning, one of them being cafe squire as the nearest option around 450m away. but we are a bit more adventurous than that right? so we drove to laneway located on the other side across the river, still not too far considering it’s only 10mins away.

a funky little down town breakfast/brunch cafe. service was friendly and food was fresh, fast and generous. a touch of the melbourne lane way vibe in the heart of devonport.

first stop after a long night on spirit of tasmania. just 5min drive from the port. friendly & efficient staffs. baby friendly with changing tables. good coffee. good portion. the only unpleasant part is the sautéed mushrooms in the steak & egg is too salty. told the cashiers and her response was professional.

love this place. it’s great for brekky/brunch/lunch. we had the caesar salad, salmon & steak & eggs. they are all delicious including the drinks. one of the best hot chocolate & mocha we ever had. this place sits in hidden lane way. truly neighborhood gem that can’t be missed.

huge serving sizes, great food, great coffee, great value for money and lovely service.

we got the laneway breakfast and the farmer's breakfast. after breakfast we were full until dinner time.

coffee was creamy and perfect level of coffee taste.

after a calm crossing on spot we dived into this very interesting cafe just after 7am. the very friendly barista greeted us and directed us to a table up the stairs. it was already busy and lots of locals dropping in for takeaway coffees - always a good sign. i had two poached eggs with a side of beans. she had two poached eggs with a side of spinach. the vibe was good, coffee warming and eggs nicely soft poached just as i had asked for. do yourself a favour. skip the breakfast on the ferry and get yourself to laneway cafe- you will not be disappointed! cheers keep it up guys - you are on a winner.

cute, quirky little cafe. was wondering around and found it on google, great little find. very friendly, welcoming staff and quick service. delicious food with an easy, affordable menu.

very grateful our mum is an expert researcher and found this place for an early morning saturday breakfast on our arrival in tasmania.
coffee is great! service is lovely, and super fast!!! always a positive. yum breakfast, the free range bacon is a must.

friendly staff and wonderful food. we had the chia pudding (yum) and the laneway breakfast. my long black hit the spot and apparently the mocha was pretty good too. a definite stop for those passing through or staying in devonport. yum with a capital y!

fantastic cafe in the lanes of devonport. funky interior with plenty of seating, fast and friendly staff. great coffee and big breakfasts. they are more than happy for you to take away!

we went here for breakfast. i thought it was fabulous. great service and great food. to top it all off they also sell the bacon. highly recommend and they are also open at 7 to boot.
