we hadbreakfastafter getting off the spirit of tasmania and we were really glad we found it. laneway was a very ‘melbourne’ cafe, with a good variety on the menu and good service. yummy scrambled eggs and the egg and bacon roll was huge. it’s housed in an old bakery, which was very cool!

it can be tough finding a nice cafe to relax in for an earlybreakfastwhen spirit of tasmania arrives at devonport around 6:00am. depending on the day of the week, there are few options that serve this early in the morning, one of them being cafe squire as the nearest option around 450m away. but we are a bit more adventurous than that right? so we drove to laneway located on the other side across the river, still not too far considering it’s only 10mins away.

huge serving sizes, great food, great coffee, great value for money and lovely service.

we got the lanewaybreakfastand the farmer's breakfast. afterbreakfastwe were full until dinner time.

coffee was creamy and perfect level of coffee taste.

after a calm crossing on spot we dived into this very interesting cafe just after 7am. the very friendly barista greeted us and directed us to a table up the stairs. it was already busy and lots of locals dropping in for takeaway coffees - always a good sign. i had two poached eggs with a side of beans. she had two poached eggs with a side of spinach. the vibe was good, coffee warming and eggs nicely soft poached just as i had asked for. do yourself a favour. skip thebreakfaston the ferry and get yourself to laneway cafe- you will not be disappointed! cheers keep it up guys - you are on a winner.

very grateful our mum is an expert researcher and found this place for an early morning saturdaybreakfaston our arrival in tasmania.
coffee is great! service is lovely, and super fast!!! always a positive. yum breakfast, the free range bacon is a must.

super delicious way to start the day, coffee is excellent, service is friendly and food was superb. wish i could remember the exact name of the food but i ordered something called a farmers mess i think! anyway, it was delicious, basically scrambled eggs with capsicum etc and served with bacon. the veggiebreakfastwas also a hit. would def come to this place again should i ever be back to devonport

i had abreakfasthere during a recent business trip to devonport.

this is a classic melbourne lane cafe. eclectic, hipster vibe. but not pretentious, just jumping into current style.

very nice poached eggs and avocado.

the long black was very good as well.

i'll be back on my next trip to devonport.

the only place in devonport with vegan options! was so glad to find this place as it's very much like melbourne cafes. they have a separate vegan menu (you have to ask for it) which has a great selection apart from there's honey in things which means that most vegan can't order that anyway.  i've had the veganbreakfast(pictured) and it was delicious, all the things i loved. i've also tried the vegie burger but the patty was  just like mashed potato in a burger bun and was a bit bland which is sad because i wanted to love it. hopefully with a menu change they'll sort that out. but staff are fabulous, atmosphere is great and it's just so nice to find a place i can eat!

the laneway cafe is hard to find - and that's just as well.

because otherwise it would be too busy to find a table.

delicious and interesting breakfast.

decorations unusual. they seemed to have trouble finding matching chairs ...

we were there forbreakfaston saturday morning before the floods washed away the ferry moorings.

recently relocating to devonport from melbourne and was on the desperate search for a good coffee hit
compared to melbournes brunch scene this was average but good for devonport
cool vibe and standardbreakfastoptions ,open for a good amount of hours so good to get a late brunch as well :)
coffee was okay and i ordered the salmon from the lunch menu which was nice

stopped forbreakfastafter getting off the boat from melbourne. had the berry waffles, which were excellent. staff were friendly and the vibe in the place was cool. will be visiting again before i leave tassie.

best coffee in devonport. ill never come through devonport without abreakfasthere. excellent service, excellent produce, great menu.
