we had breakfast after getting off the spirit of tasmania and we were really glad we found it.lanewaywas a very ‘melbourne’ cafe, with a good variety on the menu and good service. yummy scrambled eggs and the egg and bacon roll was huge. it’s housed in an old bakery, which was very cool!

it can be tough finding a nice cafe to relax in for an early breakfast when spirit of tasmania arrives at devonport around 6:00am. depending on the day of the week, there are few options that serve this early in the morning, one of them being cafe squire as the nearest option around 450m away. but we are a bit more adventurous than that right? so we drove tolanewaylocated on the other side across the river, still not too far considering it’s only 10mins away.

huge serving sizes, great food, great coffee, great value for money and lovely service.

we got thelanewaybreakfast and the farmer's breakfast. after breakfast we were full until dinner time.

coffee was creamy and perfect level of coffee taste.

after a calm crossing on spot we dived into this very interesting cafe just after 7am. the very friendly barista greeted us and directed us to a table up the stairs. it was already busy and lots of locals dropping in for takeaway coffees - always a good sign. i had two poached eggs with a side of beans. she had two poached eggs with a side of spinach. the vibe was good, coffee warming and eggs nicely soft poached just as i had asked for. do yourself a favour. skip the breakfast on the ferry and get yourself tolanewaycafe- you will not be disappointed! cheers keep it up guys - you are on a winner.

friendly staff and wonderful food. we had the chia pudding (yum) and thelanewaybreakfast. my long black hit the spot and apparently the mocha was pretty good too. a definite stop for those passing through or staying in devonport. yum with a capital y!

really very happy to have found thelanewaytoday as we alighted from the spirit of tasmania ferry. the waffles were a big hit with the kids (half serve was plenty) and i has the mess. good coffee and lovely place. do it!

thelanewaycafe is hard to find - and that's just as well.

because otherwise it would be too busy to find a table.

we were there for breakfast on saturday morning before the floods washed away the ferry moorings.

an eclectic  little cafe down alanewayin devonport. 
in through the front door and into the main area or off the right or up the stairs to the "balcony"area or through to the cavernous "back room". 

the waitress appeared rapidly to take our drinks order with my coffee arriving quite rapidly, but the iced tea took quite some time.

of the 4 menus on our table 2 were quite grubby and since i was unsure what the stains were i chose the menu from a spot where i wasn't sitting to make my choice from the menu.

the meal was delicious with the food arriving in a most timely manner, my only concern was that when they removed the 2 place settings and glasses from the table where had been seated these were put to one side to be "recycled" for the next person.  my suggestion would be to not set the table until people arrive.  you just do not know who has sat and "played" with that glass that you chose to recycle for the next person.

next time i am in tassie i will return.

was looking for a great place to have breakfast and found this gen. fantastic cafe. service was awesome food fantastic. great find tucked in alanewaypf course. breakfast highly recommended.

we were lucky enough to findlanewaythrough urban spoon. suffice to say everything was a ten. i can also see why they don't need any signage, they appear to have all the business they can handle.

on one chilly and cloudy saturday morning, a girl friend took me tolanewaycafe in devonport for brunch. it was one of the top rated cafes on urbanspoon. a cute and colourful sign pointed the way to the cafe. the cafe was hidden in a little alleyway, much like many of melbourne’s top cafes. needless to say, i was quite expectant. loved the exterior and interior...

trendy cafe. devonport certainly needed a trendy hang out andlanewayseems to have filled that void (and also paved the way for other small venues to open up in this coastal town). unfortunately, the quality of the coffee, food and service is inconsistent. it is great to see the owners supporting the locals by stocking and selling local produce i.e. cheeses, cured meats, condiments and alcohol etc.
