kona grill - omaha

lovekonagrill. just here this past weekend. had a great meal. been awhile. had some saki that was great also. the best restaurant in village point. sushi is good. the best choice on the menu might be the sushi sampler. main dishes like the macadamia chicken is a good choice and the pad thai noodles are great too. never had a bad meal here.

i ate here a few times back in 2005 or so. then i went a while without eating here and i recently stopped back in for dinner. i seem to remember it being better than it is now. perhaps its glory days are behind it.

food was decent. i tried their hawaiian ribeye which is listed on their menu as a signature (or favorite or whatever) item. it had a terrific flavor, but the meat itself was a bit chewy and, although ribeyes are typically heavily marbled, rather fatty. my wife sampled a couple of theirkonarolls from their sushi menu and was pleased with them. the food here has always been good. it's sort of an asian fusion kind of thing and they have several items that put an asian spin of what are typically american favorites.

service was not good. i couldn't tell if was because they were understaffed (seemed to be a lot of employees moving around) or if the staff they had were just that bad. several tables around us (with different waitpersons) were experience service delays too.

ambiance is off. i suppose it makes for a decent bar and happy hour experience, but for dinner it's just noisy and crowded and in a mostly bad sort of way.

at this price point i expect it to be better. they serve good food, but service could be greatly improved. it's a borderline "like" for me.

sunday at kona. my wife and i recently stopped in for lunch atkonagrill. overall, it was a great experience. the chicken caprese sandwich was my wife's selection for her midday meal. other than the basil pesto aioli being a bit runny, she rated it highly. my basil pesto linguine had andouille sausage listed as an ingredient on the menu. while there was no trace of andouille sausage whatsoever, the dish was so incredibly tasty i left well enough alone (for this initial visit). this entree was garnished with a few grape tomatoes split lengthwise with some sort of seasoning on them. i could have easily eaten an entire bowl of them as a meal! i got the sense of some "newness" from our server larissa. not only was the andouille sausage missing from my meal (which a more experienced team member would have noticed) there was a minor mix up on the dessert order. to her credit, she had extremely good people skills and a very pleasant demeanor that will probably have me requesting her on our next visit. larissa knew how to keep a watchful eye on her tables without hovering or doting -- a much sought after skill by restaurateurs. mouth-watering food, good presentation and service. al b back will be back!

they want to be known for sensational flavors in their modern american cuisine from a scratch kitchen. butkonais also known for their huge sushi and sashimi menu from traditional rolls tokonarolls. when you arrive you are greeted at the hostess area, then around the corner is the bar area. it is a big center bar lined with stools, televisions, tables but many people want to sit on the backside which is an indoor patio that also has televisions. the patio area is indoor but the huge windows open up, which is popular place to hang out and have a few cocktails like a sake bomb. the bar area has an awesome happy hour that gets crazy busy…if you're not there by 4 p.m. on friday is it very hard to find a table. the night we were there t

very unhappy with service. today, i experienced the worst service i have ever had in my life. i was atkonagrill for a business luncheon, and a member of the wait staff spilled a plate of food right beside me. before leaving the restaurant, i noticed ketchup was splattered all over my $350 leather coat. after a very unpleasant conversation with the general manager, i was told the only solution they could offer was to pay for my dry cleaning bill. later i noticed ketchup was also on my leather purse. i have already contacted several cleaners and many of them will not even touch my items, because they are leather. the leather cleaning stores are doubtful my items can be recovered, since the ketchup has already soaked into the leather. i am very displeased with my experience, and will not be returning tokonagrill.

the only national chain to make this list,konagrill is easily one of omaha’s hottest happy hour spots deserving of mention here because as arduous as it may be to snag a seat here, it is worth the effort. the broad spectrum of menu offerings promises something for every palate and mood, from fiery shrimp rolls to crisp margarita flatbread pizza with tangy balsamic drizzle. well-developed dishes and bright, vibrant flavors compliment the lively climate. if you should find yourself lucky enough to have secured a seat here, be sure to sample the avocado egg rolls. and as your server delivers the check, go ahead and accept the bribe from that lurker around the corner.

good fish for the price. i love coming tokonafor sushi. their plain tuna roll is my favorite menu item. the rolls are priced fairly for the amount you get, especially if you dont get any of the american specialty rolls and just stick to fish, rice, and seaweed. the seven spiced ahi was very good when we went and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is great for nightime, i do recommend, however, sitting outside in the patio area during the day, the inside seating can be quite dark.

happy hour. the best time to go tokonais for happy hour. the have it weekdays from 3-7 and you can can get some cheap(but good) drinks and they have a decent selection of food from the happy hour menu. i think they have a reverse happy hour on friday and saturday nights, but we haven't been to that. we like it in the afternoon because if you go early you can avoid the crowd and get seated right away. the staff is friendly and fast.

amazing diversity!.konagrill is a good place for a group with very diverse tastes. they have everything from a variety of well-priced sushi, to their macadamia nut chicken (better than mom's chicken, and my favorite!). i go here at least once every two weeks, and am never disappointed by the friendly staff or the delectable food. definitely a place to try!

so i read all the reviews and still came in here. in fact i'm sitting inkonaas i write this and we've been waiting for our check for thirty minutes. wait the waiter just walked right by us and said nothing. this places service sucks! sorry about any typos as the damn table is woobky too!

horrible.konagrill is the by far the worst sushi i have ever had. the selection is limited and the taste is unrefined. i would rather buy my sushi at hy-vee. on the up sidekonaoffers a grill menu, but on the downside it's just as bad as the sushi.konahas nothing to offer unless your strictly looking for a decent cocktail. the sake bomb's will getcha. don't waste your time or money on this waste of space.

i go tokonafor one thing sake bombs. nothing else there interest me.

it's ok. i likedkonabefore, but now i think customer service is not that great to be honest. i want more fish in the sushi.
taste is not bad though. they also have nice happy hour everyday if you want to try this place. i like their huge onion ring. it's really huge!
