kona grill - omaha

the food here was good. sushi was average to good. i enjoyed the chicken and fish entrees. i have nothing negative to say besides the service being a little slow. if your going out to relax and enjoy dinner then you shouldn't even notice. our waitress was nice and the atmosphere was agoodmix of relaxing, family friendly and fun. the bar area keeps the fun going and their open air option in nice weather is great!

love kona grill. just here this past weekend. had a great meal. been awhile. had some saki that was great also. the best restaurant in village point. sushi is good. the best choice on the menu might be the sushi sampler. main dishes like the macadamia chicken is agoodchoice and the pad thai noodles are great too. never had a bad meal here.

i ate here a few times back in 2005 or so. then i went a while without eating here and i recently stopped back in for dinner. i seem to remember it being better than it is now. perhaps its glory days are behind it.

food was decent. i tried their hawaiian ribeye which is listed on their menu as a signature (or favorite or whatever) item. it had a terrific flavor, but the meat itself was a bit chewy and, although ribeyes are typically heavily marbled, rather fatty. my wife sampled a couple of their kona rolls from their sushi menu and was pleased with them. the food here has always been good. it's sort of an asian fusion kind of thing and they have several items that put an asian spin of what are typically american favorites.

service was not good. i couldn't tell if was because they were understaffed (seemed to be a lot of employees moving around) or if the staff they had were just that bad. several tables around us (with different waitpersons) were experience service delays too.

ambiance is off. i suppose it makes for a decent bar and happy hour experience, but for dinner it's just noisy and crowded and in a mostly bad sort of way.

at this price point i expect it to be better. they servegoodfood, but service could be greatly improved. it's a borderline "like" for me.

sunday at kona. my wife and i recently stopped in for lunch at kona grill. overall, it was a great experience. the chicken caprese sandwich was my wife's selection for her midday meal. other than the basil pesto aioli being a bit runny, she rated it highly. my basil pesto linguine had andouille sausage listed as an ingredient on the menu. while there was no trace of andouille sausage whatsoever, the dish was so incredibly tasty i left well enough alone (for this initial visit). this entree was garnished with a few grape tomatoes split lengthwise with some sort of seasoning on them. i could have easily eaten an entire bowl of them as a meal! i got the sense of some "newness" from our server larissa. not only was the andouille sausage missing from my meal (which a more experienced team member would have noticed) there was a minor mix up on the dessert order. to her credit, she had extremelygoodpeople skills and a very pleasant demeanor that will probably have me requesting her on our next visit. larissa knew how to keep a watchful eye on her tables without hovering or doting -- a much sought after skill by restaurateurs. mouth-watering food,goodpresentation and service. al b back will be back!

gustatory. pleasant meal.goodservice. delightful appetiser, green peppers covered with shredded tuna. unusually novel and tasty.

used to be better. used to like coming here for sushi but they changed the menu and the sushi isnt asgoodanymore...

good fish for the price. i love coming to kona for sushi. their plain tuna roll is my favorite menu item. the rolls are priced fairly for the amount you get, especially if you dont get any of the american specialty rolls and just stick to fish, rice, and seaweed. the seven spiced ahi was verygoodwhen we went and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is great for nightime, i do recommend, however, sitting outside in the patio area during the day, the inside seating can be quite dark.

bad service and bad food. we went after happy hour thinking that it would be a little calmer but it wasn't. it wasn't our server's fault that it was busy but i do hold it against her that she didn't bother to ask us what we were eating after giving us our drinks. our order came out to us wrong but that isn't why we won't be back- we won't be back because for a place like this a simple burger should have tasted good. the meat tasted like it came from mcdonald's just juiced up to look like it was decent size and somehow there was a part of the outer perimeter that was pink when the rest of it was cooked o.o the sushi was small and the taste wasn't worth the money they charged. maybe this place is onlygoodfor drinks during happy hour (that everyone seems to rave about) because that was the only thing that i enjoyed.

great happy hour. starts at 1 pm.goodvariety of quality items. had the spicy tuna roll, bama roll, calamari, pot stickers, and lettuce wraps. all were a great value and delicious.

50/50. some dishes aregoodbut some lack freshness. i guess the quality of the food is fair. don't think i will be going back. i do like the location.

best! sake bombs. i've tried a lot of sake bombs from different places in town and i don't think any other place has asgoodof a deal as kona. for 9.75 you can get 4 shots of sake and a big beer.

keep going back. we found this spot on our first visit to omaha and seem to find ourselves back there everytime we visit. the food is fresh, the servicegoodand the atmosphere is relaxing.

lobster & ahi flatbread is out of this world. the pan asian noodles are terrific with a spicy hoisin style sauce on udon noodles. (my new favorite asian startch)

all around great every time we go!

i don't what everyone else's problem is. it's reallygoodfood for the price. the happy hour is very reasonable and is available in the afternoon and late at night. the service is what you would expect for $15-20 a plate, national chain restaurant. i gave eaten here many times and would say the only time the service is "bad", is due to understaffing and not necessarily bad waiters or bartenders.

amazing diversity!. kona grill is agoodplace for a group with very diverse tastes. they have everything from a variety of well-priced sushi, to their macadamia nut chicken (better than mom's chicken, and my favorite!). i go here at least once every two weeks, and am never disappointed by the friendly staff or the delectable food. definitely a place to try!
