saw this knafeh all over my facebook newsfeed and i couldn’t help myself to try it when it was within my vicinity. when i arrived it was literally a party with the bakers playing music and singing along. queues were long and a long wait for the knafeh to be baked. families sat on milk crates as they enjoy this middle eastern dessert. very lively and upbeat atmosphere. the bearded men looked as if they enjoyed doing this and give off happy vibes while they do their work.

they only serve some drink and knafeh. i just ordered knafeh take-away but the crust seemed to soften when i arrived home. i poured too much of the rosewatersyrupon the knafeh so it was overly sweet, rookie mistake. apart from mine being too sweet, the dessert was absolutely fabulous. the milk goodness goes well with the rosewater syrup, however the crust was soft. i would recommend eating it on the venue then it might have a crispy crust. note it changes place every week and you will need to follow them.

i am used to armenian knafeh which is thicker, cheesier (pulls like mozzarella) and in my opinion, much more delicious. however this being one of the only legit places to get knafeh in sydney, i am still very grateful for, plus theirsyrupis quite good. atmosphere is always fantastic and staff always enthusiastic.

this little dessert is unique and delicious, texture are perfect, but it’s just too sweet for me. maybe, you can request to reduce the sugarsyrupthat was poured at the end.
come to the venue just for this is definitely worth it if you havent try a delicious knafeh.
unique and welcoming environment.

i frequent the knafeh truck locations and have visited the dancing bearded bakers twice at doonside and once at rydalmere. i can't rate them high enough. service is quite fast and even on a cold night, you don't mind the wait. the bakers can keep you entertained for hours. i'm a people watcher so see the smiles on everyone's faces is a bonus. the energy is electric. as for the desserts themselves, i can't explain how delicious it is. it's like a custard type porridge topped with delicioussyrupand flakes (like cornflakes). i've downed two servings in one sitting before. #nojudging

the knafeh was absolutely incredible! it had lovely flavour and texture and it was overall such a lovely dessert! the portion size is very reasonable and the side of sweetsyrupis particularly clever. there really is no fault with this dessert!

absolutely love these bearded bakers and their delicious knafeh! the only downside is sometimes the wait is quite long but you tend to be rewarded at the end with delicious gooey cheese withsyrupand pistachios sprinkled on top. they sometimes have the booza ice cream and its very soft. costs you around $8 a for a serving of knafeh. the dancing and singing is complimentary and all part of the show.

my first ever 5.0 score. if i'd thought about what my perfect dining experience would be i'm not sure i would have ever imagined it would involve dancing guys with beards. but last night all roads led to strathfiield, after the bearded bakers announced that they would be setting up shop there. replete with korean food goodness, we headed into the wilds of south strathfield, a distinctly unpreposessing looking industrial district. approaching a dereliict workshop, waves of music rolled out towards us (big tick on the middle eastern house music front). the bearded bakers have a container that they move around in, but this time they had brought their industrial strength oven to a disused workshop and set up business in there. making the knafeh is a chain process - one baker ladling it into the baking pans, another spraying it with a glaze and a third baker collecting it on the other side. the front of house bearded baker is armed with a microphone, which he uses to call out orders and charm the enthralled crowd. in between all of this, the glue that brings it all together, is fun laughter and dancing bakers. the vibe at knafeh is electric, a heady mix of mouth watering anticipation of the knafeh, excitement generated by the antics of the bakers, and that edge that comes from doing something completely different. our knafeh was gorgeous. this is a middle eastern confection that i have never tried before - a street food dessert from jerusalem made of sweet cheese and pistachios, drizzled withsyrup(oh oh craving in the making). the family behind knafeh are palestinian christians, originally from yaffa, and the bearded bakers are an eclectic mix (christians, muslims, all baking together). this won't be for everyone but i found it a really powerful energising joyful experience on so many levels. the bakers move about (see their instagram/facebook pages) for details.

current address: george khattar lane, parramatta  parking: street parking (limited), within walking distance of church st opening hours: thursday to sunday 6pm until late website:  http://knafeh.com.au/ phone: n/a reservation: n/a price: $ payment options: cash  situated inside a repurposed shipping container as a pop up store, knafeh bakery is not just a flurry of perfect beards and great dessert; their enthusiasm is boundless!  shirking the path as a future comedian, joey awad (pictured above) entertains hungry customers as they await their food - warning: there may be business cards flying through the air!   he isn’t the only one though.  the atmosphere is filled with a dynamic that is hypnotising to watch, and their team shout and dance with each other from across their kitchen! it’s not all fun and games though; there has got to be some element that keeps the crowds coming!  nabila and ameer are the masterminds behind the creation of knafeh, spending hours of their time perfecting the recipe for this modified jerusalem street food.   knafeh is apparently made of a custom made sweet cheese (or can be made using other types of cheese such as mozzarella), but seemed more like a rich, stringy, exotic creme brûlée with the toasted sweet semolina and orangesyruptopping.   the knafeh team have got it down to a tee, churning out bowls of knafeh at a fast rate.  no customer was left waiting hungry!  unfortunately though, knafeh’s time will be coming to a

first time trying the knafeh and it was absolutely delicious. a soft custard with a sweet cheese gooey center was to die for. the sugarsyrupand the pistachios went very well in lifting the flavors, this also creates an aromatic sweet scent from the knafeh. out of excitement your eyes expand lager than life in pour bliss. the taste makes you salivate for more.

we were lucky to see the launch and grand opening of knafeh at the smooth festival of chocolate at the rocks   this weekend. knafeh is the brain child of siblings joey el-issa, ameer el-issa, and mouna emsis. its essentially a commercial bakery in a shipping container. with cool street art, bearded men and one delicious dessert. joey el-issa pouring the thick cheesey mixture into a baking dish so, what is knafeh you say? there recipe is their mothers take on the middle eastern dessert. generally its a cheese pastry soaked in sweet sugar-basedsyruphowever this version is much lighter described as a sweet cheese and semolina pudding, coated in a fine crumbing mix. once baked, the coating becomes crunchy and you’re left with an oozing centre. pistachio and sugarsyrupis then drizzled over the finished product. cheesy. hot. sweet. a damn fine desert if you ask me! in. my. belly.   share this:
