in a nutshell: a seemingly crazy and simple idea of adessertthat's like a wider, shallower, tantalisingly savoury, cheesy creme brûlée with light soft crust! sold and served to you by good looking, bearded men with lively personalities!

i literally bumped into the food truck during one of my rounds of the bay walk/run. and of course i stopped. you will too if you see this food truck!

loved this middle easterndessertthat is best eaten hot! it tastes like an egg tart that is sweet and creamy on the inside and has a crunchy top. also enjoyed the atmosphere of this food truck, there was music and dancing, which made for a great night!

saw this knafeh all over my facebook newsfeed and i couldn’t help myself to try it when it was within my vicinity. when i arrived it was literally a party with the bakers playing music and singing along. queues were long and a long wait for the knafeh to be baked. families sat on milk crates as they enjoy this middle eastern dessert. very lively and upbeat atmosphere. the bearded men looked as if they enjoyed doing this and give off happy vibes while they do their work.

they only serve some drink and knafeh. i just ordered knafeh take-away but the crust seemed to soften when i arrived home. i poured too much of the rosewater syrup on the knafeh so it was overly sweet, rookie mistake. apart from mine being too sweet, thedessertwas absolutely fabulous. the milk goodness goes well with the rosewater syrup, however the crust was soft. i would recommend eating it on the venue then it might have a crispy crust. note it changes place every week and you will need to follow them.

this littledessertis unique and delicious, texture are perfect, but it’s just too sweet for me. maybe, you can request to reduce the sugar syrup that was poured at the end.
come to the venue just for this is definitely worth it if you havent try a delicious knafeh.
unique and welcoming environment.

delicious custard likedessertwhich is amazing and served nice and hot. the wait might be long but the entertainment makes you forget you’re waiting. expect lines wherever these guys set up. but it’s definitely worth a try.

✔️ absolutely incredible atmosphere. the bearded bakers are the highlight, so funny and entertaining. and coming from a lebanese background, i can easily say that this was definitely up there with the best knafeh i've had!!! for people who don't know what knafeh is, it's a middle easterndessertsimilar to a sweet custard with a crispy surface, served hot & with syrup. i personally drench mine in syrup, but i would recommend not to if you don't like too much sugar - knafeh is sweet already!

❌ a bit more sweet than authentic cheese knafeh in lebanon (not necessarily a bad thing for sugar freaks like me) the line is never shorter than a 30 minute wait, but i guess you can expect that with such a popular business, and this isn't a big deal anyway because i find that the entertainment distracts you anyway!

kanafeh is not just about thedessertit's about the personality and entertainment!
thedessertwas beautiful, sweet, creamy but nice crunch top.
the entertainment: they're so enthusiastic and energetic! singing and dancing and making up dumb rhymes to go with your name.
they're great, worth a visit!

heard of knafeh? if you haven't you don't know what you're missing out on. they serve a sugary sweet creamydessertthat is served hot and is simply delicious. but there's more to it than just the food. the bearded bakers at knafeh basically put ondessertand a show for you from their food truck. there's music, singing and a lot of humour too.

knafeh in one word - amazing. i have never tried this humbledessertbefore, but i was pleasantly surprised. as a pop up stall, the knafeh boys are energetic and friendly, and provide for a thrilling atmosphere of music and humour. the knafeh itself is light and yet deliciously cheesy, with gentle flavours. can't recommend this higher!

we visited this cool shipping container pop up in alexandria fordessertafter eating at the potting shed in the grounds of alexandria complex.
we were quickly drawn in by the music and gathering crowd. we walk into the abanoned space which was once the salt meat cheese store. there were a bunch of people sitting on milk crates enjoying their middle eastern street food and having a good time watching bearded men behind the counter of this pop up enjoying themselves.
the menu is simple serving knafeh(a middle eastern dessert), moroccan tea and water.
the service is fun and personalised taking your name when you order and when your knafeh (i would describe as a creme brulee/ pudding/ porridge hybrid) is ready the guys have fun with it, cracking jokes.
the knafeh is sweet with a creamy porridge like texture and has a caramelised top sprinkled with a pistachio crumb.
this place is entertaining, a gooddessertoption and a fun dining experience.

i got lucky with knafeh over the weekend. while mindlessly walking towards hawker lane i had no idea turning the corner, we’d be met with a blocked off anderson st and huge crowd. knafeh had set up for the night in chatswood. it got me pretty excited because as much as i had wanted to try these guys out i had never sought after their whereabouts, so to see them so unexpectedly it was a pleasant surprise.

after about 30 mins of waiting in line and amidst the crowd, i could totally see their appeal. they sure do know how to entertain, and the crowd went wild for them. random people going up to collect their order would get picked to dance, and it was the funniest thing.

although a little worried that the actualdessertwould disappoint after a fun experience, a small part of me was willing to let that go as it did leave me in high spirits. fortunately it was very tasty! wasn’t too sweet, and deliciously warm and soft. the downside was that it was gone far too quickly, but i’m glad to have waited it out and to have finally tried it.

from the descriptions, i imagined knafeh to be a warm gooeydessertwith a savoury cheese flavour (like haloumi or feta) balanced by a sweet syrup. but reality was a whole different beast. it actually tasted like an egg tart (the kind you get at yum cha) but with a softer, spoonable texture, no pastry shell and much much much sweeter (no, i didn't type that in three times by accident). there was also a bit of textural and flavour contrast from something (grain? bran?) that reminded me of weetbix. the crew really seemed to be enjoying themselves and they were pumping out some fun tunes on a friday night. impressive lines for a food truck that has one thing on the menu. i'm happy i finally managed to try the knafeh but it's probably not something i'd go back for.
