i went there several years back in their original location and enjoyed it very much. at the new place for our anniversary, my wife and i were a little disappointed. it displayed an added touch of elegance but much of the former intimacy and excellence was gone. we had a personable waiter who was knowledgeable and attentive, and everything went smoothly for a while. our wagyu skewer appetizer was simply superb. my wife chose the beef wellington and i had the dry aged ny strip steak. when it arrived mine was greatly over cooked and my side of creamed spinach was cold (this is pure neglect). the waiter promptly took both back for rework which took a while. my wife was uncomfortable but ate hers while i sat there: not a good way to spend an anniversary meal. the beef wellington was average at best, with mushy meat and soggy pastry. the other sides: brussels sprouts and potatoes au gratin were piping hot, fresh and very good. when my order arrived the side was hot and very good; the meat was still a little overcooked but acceptable. it showed no characteristics of the rich flavor usually associated with dry aging and came without garnishes or seasoning. i think they must use low grade meat and wonder how some of the other reviewers reported juicy flavorful meat for the same steak. the complementary anniversary dessert of french crème brûlée was excellent with a good crust.

the evening was still enjoyable but my wife thought it was clumsy. we probably should have received some rebate instead of only "thank you for your patience." if this had been a lesser star restaurant it might have been fairly acceptable. however, for a high end steak house that charges top dollar they should get it right. i think many there are well trained and try hard but others are lacking something. if you go there for a five star experience you might get it or you might not. just be prepared. rating: reduced by the top dollar prices, a few snafus and mainly the steak to two stars.

very good. went here for my wife's birthday. it's on the elegant side of casual. admittedly very pricey but the portions and quality correspond. i would recommend this place to anyone coming to houston or pearland

killen's used to be our special occasion destination. sadly no longer...partially our fault for not sending back an undercooked steak but something was altogether off... scallops, tomato salad, and sear on steak were not what we experienced on our first visits. cheese in macaroni seemed processed. overall we were disappointed. $200 dinner for two should be memorable in a positive way.

$400 meal and we couldn't have a conversation.. arrived at six with friends who hadn't been there. steaks were great and service good, but well never go back. a table of six across the room was screaming and yelling the entire meal; watching a game on their phones and cheering like it was a sports bar. we mentioned it twice to our waiter and he said other tables had complained also. we couldn't even have a conversation. it was miserable... for $400 i asked the manager when we left why he didn't step in and he said they tried to hurry them out. well, they were having dessert when we had apps and they finally left when we had dessert. too many good houston restaurants to make the drive for this.

overpriced. my wife and i were excited about trying killens for my birthday dinner based on what we had heard. however we were very underwhelmed. place looked like a roadside bar outside and was actually decorated with floor tiles on the ceiling. the sat us at stable at back where my view was the wall. service was slow, taking 10 min just to see our waiter for drink orders. steaks were good but nothing i would go back for and we have had better for less. very limited wine by the glass selection. we tried 3 reds and settled for the least offensive. just a lot of hype but didn't deliver on expectations. won't go back.

what a letdown!!!. as good as the bbq restaurant is...the steakhouse is that bad. very loud, very close tables, very long wait after ordering food. in fact longer than the line at the bbq restaurant.

the asparagus appetizer was armored in batter. took some effort to cut. about 25% of the asparagus was inedible, and all of the batter was inn inedible.

the steak was a hugh disappointment. very dry yet the middle was bloody red...not exactly medium as ordered. i took the steak home and finished cooking it in my heb charro beans the next day.

go to rudy and pacco's in galveston and get a good meal.

dinner was good, but i did severe damage to my car on leaving the restaurant due to a huge ditch inside the car park that was completely unlit. i think the restaurant is negligent not to cover this ditch or provide outside lighting.

i've sampled killen's bbq on several occasions - first at the monday night mayhem tailgating event at triniti restaurant this past december, second at the rodeo uncorked roundup best bites competition a few months back (chef killen took home the trailblazing appetizer/entree award for his beef short ribs), and finally at a media tasting a month or so ago. each and every time, killen's bbq was consistent.

went there for my husband's birthday with our children to celebrate. i wish we would have eaten there before we chose it for a special occasion. if you have never been there i'm sure that you have had this experience somewhere else. picture a really small restaurant with a awkward floor plan ( the dining room is really small with a whole bunch of tables shoved into it then a very small area was divided with a make shift wall- lattice or something to that effect.) in which the small area is crammed full of tables. the divided small area you have to squeeze threw to get to the rest room. the tables are so close together that when getting up from the table you have to either bump the guest sitting behind you with your chair and squeeze out or hold it. the restaurant is so smallyou can see everything from the front door- the kitchen, their refrigerators, all the tables and guest even the bathroom door.) all from first glimpse from the front door. ok so i will move on to the food. you will see more reviews about soups, salads, & appetizers and sides for this place for two reasons they're pretty good ( my favorite was the tuna tacos) and they are more affordable. my husband ordered the house special it was a 32oz with a what they call a dry rub ( ordering beef there or listening to them explain exactly how each steak was different and of coarse why and all the history behind that is like going to basking and robbins for chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and them having evening but that then you have to listen to them go threw each flavor and its description and why its better than chocolate chip cookie dough.) ok so don't be intimidated by the 32oz its a lot more bone than meat. i had the 16oz dry rub rib eye... mine was sweet his was smokey. they bake they're steaks not grill. mine was dry his was moist. they noise from other tables was out of this world because it really cramped up and of coarse people drinking bottle after bottle of wine things tend to get louder. i had my children in there with me so me and my husband got upset when table right across from us started getting really rowdy and vulgar. the staff (two of them) where cutting up with them. the manager with just walking around getting people their water etc he would look over during the next histerical outburst and laugh. we asked one of the servers if they could keep it down our kids were with us he said not a problem y'all are about threw with it i will box it up and not to worry he understood ( this was at the beginning of our meal) . so if you go and like the place great if not sorry. good luck i hope better experiences for every one.

the waiters know their stuff! they can provide a quick and informative beef 101 session tableside, provide recommendations on a cut that would suit your liking (and taste), know which wines go great with your meal, and can give you the background on not only the entrees themselves, but also on what makes killen's so special.

80th birthday dinner. never so disappointed in my life. i don't mind paying thru the roof for good food, but the steak was tough, the waiter disinterested, didn't acknowledge the birthday, had to flag him down to get a refill on water. i do say, however, that the cream corn is to die for. thank goodness i found the receipe on another site so i will make it at home. if you really want top of the line steak and service, try taste of texas on the katy freeway. just my two cents.

great meal. first off, the creamed corn is ridiculously good. i mean, that is the amazing highlight. the steak was good, but this was the thing i keep trying to replicate in my kitchen, and failing. just wow. that stuff in a can ain't got nothing on this cheesy corny goodness. delicious.

beet and goat cheese salad was good, i was trying to eat the plate when i was done. my filet had a perfect texture, without any stringyness or hard chew, the flavor was nice but mom's new york was more flavorful - though not as soft and tender. the potatoes were standard fare, i just had a bite before devouring the creamed corn.

the vesper of the night was good, but not as good as haven's. less aromatic and not as nicely balanced.

birthday dinner gone bad. i don't know who is reviewing this restaurant but the food is awful. the lettuce in the caesar salad was not chilled properly and the dressing was very salty. my girlfriends kobe beef steak was tough and cooked at the wrong temperature. the steak fries and they were in a pool of grease. inexcusable. the creamed spinach was also salty and awful. the waiter kept praising the chef like he was a demi god.. . everything i ordered was awful except for the jack daniels, the warm bread, and the dessert which was out of sight. my compliments to the dessert chef.

unfortunately we do not have much of a choice of high end restaurants in pearland. so based on many good reviews we decided to celebrate my wife's birthday at killen's. when making our reservation i inquired about the dress code and was told "business casual". to us that means nothing less than casual slacks and golf shirt for a man. granted we are in pearland, but at these prices.... money is not the issue here, but imagine our disappointment when seated at a table next to a loud, group where the best dressed male was wearing wranglers and a fishing t shirt not to mention the guys in shorts. we much rather enjoy perry's in friendswood. will have to really consider another visit!!'
