i don't remember it being this sweet. when i last came for supper roughly 4 years ago, i remembered the food tasting very good. but during a recent visit for lunch, my friends and i found that too many of the dishes tasted sweeter than normal.
in the case of their thai ginger beef, we let the excessive sweetness slide, as it almost worked in favor of the beef. that being said, the beef was borderline candy-beef. half of the table thought this was their favorite dish, while the other half (myself included) voted that this was the weakest. unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the pad thai (ours included shrimp). i don't like a sweet pad thai and the flavors just did not work for me.
personally, their masaman curry was a clear winner. firstly because it wasn't sweet (finally), but mostly due to the fact that the taste of peanuts envelops the senses upon consumption. i bid any peanut-lovers to try this particular dish. mixed with rice, i could eat this all day (but not every day - would get boring after a while). by the end of the meal, half of the group placed the masaman curry as their number one choice.
overall, i feel that this lunch was not very strong, and i'm likely to return in the future to make sure that this meal was an anomaly. also, coming at roughly $17 per person, it's more expensive than a typical lunch out.
