first disappointing thing since we got to hawaii. my friend had the fish sandwich combo. the fries were under cooked and he said it was hard to taste the fish there was so little of it. my wife and i shared the garlic shrimp ($12). it was 7 shrimp on a bed of rice that took over 45 min. my friend was finished with his meal before we saw ours. the staff was very pleasant but their was no apology or concern for our wait!

split a burger and seafood combo with my wife. couldn't get enough of either entree. best food we've had so far this trip.

amazing cocunut/macadamia nut shrimp!. we just ate at a great local joint called the kahuhku grill. the staff was really friendly and it's family owned and operated. best of all, the food was the best food we've had during our week-long stay in hawaii. i'm still craving their coconut shrimp! if you're on the north shore, you have to stop in!

stopped here for dinner after a day on the north shore. service was a little slow, but the food was amazing! the ahi sandwich and coconut shrimp are a must try.

loved it. went there because everything else was closed. really liked it and returned next day. i had the lemon-butter fish and my wife had the garlic butter. food was super, good, friendly service and the price moderate. only issue was the were out of t-shirts. i really wanted one. way better than ted's.

the "deep bleu" has been the highlight so far. day two in hawaii and dinner at kahuku grill has been a food highlight. the deep bleu burger was a juicy and tender beef pattie with blue cheese plus so pineapple. the bun was really soft and tasty. to make it fair dinkum i would have added a fried egg and some sliced beetroot.

highly recommend. the lemon butter fish plate was delicious. the fish was cooked perfectly, without being drenched in butter and it came with a nice fresh side salad (not iceberg) tossed with a lite dressing. i don't know about anyone else but i'm getting tired of everything coming with rice and macaroni salad. the rest of my family had burgers that they thoroughly enjoyed. the staff were very friendly and welcoming. wish that we discovered this place earlier. we're definitely going back.

great dinner!!. read about this place on-line so we went there while on vacation. had dinner there and each of us had a hamburger(cowboy and teriyaki) and potato fries and they were so good! we also had a shrimp combo and thought we would take it to go but the macadamia and garlic shrimp were so good we ate those too! all the avacado and pineapple were great. best food on the trip so far so we might go back before we leave tuesday.

...the paniolo (cowboy) burger, served with fries and a salad, with my mom. the burger was topped with grilled pineapple, onion rings, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, caramelized onions and bbq sauce. this burger was epic. ridiculously delicious and insanely drippy. i actually ended up eating it with a knife and fork (in part because the burger lost some structural integrity when we cut it in half) so that the entire thing didn’t end up in my lap.

we went here yesterday on a recommendation from tim at deep ecology in hale'iwa. it was easy to find (just look for the blue & yellow hand-painted sign). i had the shem's big bad burger without the sauce and bacon. it was delish!!! the guacamole made it a little hard to eat, but it was definitely worth it. i had to cut the burger in half because it was so big. the home fries were ridiculously good, too! the service was great and i loved the outdoor dining and laid-back atmosphere. and instead of using table numbers, they have table names. our table name was amazing. i'd say that summed up our visit to kahuku grill perfectly. i will definitely go back!!!

fabulous. amazing burgers. i had the cowboy, my partner had the burger with blue cheese. both were fresh, delicious, and loaded with flavor. house made fries with special sauce were equally delicious. and service was tremendous. great spot, too. if you are expecting ordinary, don't bother stopping. only complaint -- need bigger napkins!

it really is the best, freshest food on this side of the island. the beef is fresh. the salad is green and local and tasty. the fish is tender and bursting with flavor. the coconut shrimp is sweet and real.

it helps that the hanneman family (who own and run the restuarant) are some of the kindest, friendliest people you will ever meet!

do be aware that this is not fast food! (which is posted on a sign by the cashier) but my husband and children and i would definitely say: it's worth the wait.

awesome food! if you are craving a really good local burger, this is your place. super friendly people, too.

our experience was with "the bruce irons burger", "the cowboy burger", "the teri burger w/pineapple" and "the crazy fries" were plain & simply amazing!!!
...oh and don't forget to extra napkins!
