terrible experience at this place on saturday. i reserved three weeks in advance and the reservation process went mostly smoothly, except i had to ask twice for a price list for bottle service and after asking twice for this service, i was told that a group would be taking over half of our table at midnight. i then had to again tell them that i wanted my table as i was planning on getting bottle service too. at this point, the person organizing my party said that wouldn't be a problem in that case.

when we got to joverse, no one greeted us at the door, and we literally waited 20 mins before any one asked if what we were waiting for. during this time, no one that worked there even came to the door area so that we could even ask for assistance. finally, after greeting us, they made us wait another 10 minutes while they cleaned our table. our reservation had been at 9:30 so our table should have been clean by then and waiting for us, but it wasn't even clean by 9:50 when we finally found someone.

our waiter was very nice, however the drinks took over 20 minutes to come, and when our food started coming out, the runners did not know what food belonged to who, and a lot of my guests did not get the correct plate. the prices were normal, the the drinks were good, the food was good (but also very greasy) and there was only one salad as a vegetarian option.

at 11:30, we were ready to order our bottle service, so we did, however by 12:30, we still hadn't been served our bottle. during the entire hour, not one person working at joverse came to our table. eventually, another server (or maybe manager?) came to tell us that a group that had ordered more bottles than us was taking over our table. we explained that we had been here for hours, and had reserved our table 3 weeks in advance for the whole night, mentioning we wanted dinner and bottle service, but they didn't care. we were moved to a tiny table (our group had 12 people), but on the bright side they finally brought our bottle. again, another mistake here though, since they brought kettle one, rather than the grey goose that i had ordered. about 5 minutes after they dropped off the correct bottle, our old server mysteriously appeared, wanting to be paid in full for the bottle immediately, and ''apologized'' for disappearing for so long.

overall, probably one of the worst experience i've ever had at a bar. the "bottle service" was not service at all, and was an embarrassment on their part. by the end of the night, my friends were angry, sober, and thenightwas basically ruined, and joverse lost money as we had originally intended to buy several bottles, but decided against it based on our experience with the first.

a little disappointing....... we visited joverse while in montreal for memorial day weekend. we arrived on-time for a fridaynightreservation @ 7:30. we were not greeted and had to ask the bartender where we should check in. a gentleman came over, showed us to our seats and advised that the table had to be avail for a 9:30 seating. we figured a 2 hour window should be sufficient. this "restaurant" seemed to be more of a social / spot-of-the-moment place. the music was already above conversation level and made hearing our host very hard. it has a tapas-style menu and proved to be pricey. each item was served with two "portions", even though there were three in our party. we asked if a third could be added and was told we would have to order a second plate. considering an average cost of $13-15 dollars per order, we made do. we tried their crab cakes (sauce on top too sweet and unnecessary), pulled-pork taco (best item of the group), beef sliders (greasy and under-cooked) and a blackboard special of deconstructed ribs with an overly spicy side of kimchi (didn't care for either). one would think the cost would allow for the size of the portions to be more substantial but one would be wrong. the service was pushed as they seemed to be clearing things from the table as soon as a plate became empty (and more than once had to ask them to stop removing things before we had finished with them). maybe this pace allowed them to turn the table quicker but it was annoying. without alcohol, but including a tip, our bill was approx $90.-. for the quantity and quality of the food, this was an experience we will not repeat.

went there on saturdaynightfor couple of drinks. loved their long island iced teas and the chip and dip combo. the service was good and the staff was very courteous.

i’m totally out of the loop in thenightlife scene of old port (or anynightlife in general). i never heard of joverse until a recent invitation for a birthday celebration. it turns to a club after 11pm, a supper club. glancing at their online menu, prices seemed fairly reasonable for a restaurant located at the heart of old port. yay to no overpriced meal! or so i thought…

joverse unique montreal concept. there doesn't seem to be a term able to encompass the experience offered by joverse. good thing come to those who take advantage of the dinner service. affordable yet bold and flavorful joverse specialises in tapas style tex/mex. the first thing people will notice upon entering is the warm and refined industrial look. the service was exceptional. the music adapts to the time of thenightstarting relaxed and non intrusive and pick up heat towards midnight when joverse becauses a real clubbing hot-spot. a fantastique roster of dj's are to be expected.

let me just start by saying that i organize a lot of groups and parties for friends and family alike. this time i was organizing my wife's birthday and had heard that joverse was the place to be, it certainly didn't disappoint.
i first contacted joverse via email requesting a group reservation and i had a number of questions. to my surprise i got a call back from their corporate booking guy within minutes! he was extremely professional and knowledgeable.
our ensuingnightat joverse started with a really warm welcome from the host (not to mention he was wearing a kick ass pair of jordans with pink socks and bowtie! lol) and an even warmer welcome from our waitress. considering how busy it was on this saturday night, it was refreshing to find a bar in montreal that didn't have a snobby stuck up staff without any smiles.
food wise my wife and i shared a bunch of tapas size plates....the crab cakes and the beef tacos were amazing! my wife loved her cocktail and i loved the name of her cocktail. they made it with johnnie walker and cleverly named it the johnnie mnemonic.
the late-night vibe blew my mind! i honestly haven't seen anything like this in montreal or anywhere for that matter since the last time i went to new york. the crowd was douche free with good looking people all around and the music was good times from start to finish.

looking for a great experience eating out with your friends and parting...trust me, don't hesitate!

amazing for any occasion. i have been a huge fan of joverse ever since its opening. it's conveniently located in old montreal, within a few walking minutes from the metro. i enjoy going there to grab a drink to catch up with friends, for a delicious meal with my boyfriend or simply to have a funnightout on the town. the decor is gorgeous, the music is always outstanding, the people are beautiful, the staff is very friendly and welcoming, the cuisine always hits the spot, the cocktail list is original and affordable... i can't say enough good things.

just what montreal needed!. joverse is the kind of place montreal always lacked!

located in the beautiful old montreal, the restaurant has some of the best tapas style food i have had in the city. the sliders are delicious and the beef tartar can rival any top restaurants around the world.

the staff is excellent!! i don't remember seeing a better staff in a bar/restaurant in montreal. they are friendly and welcoming, yet very respectful. the restaurant upstairs has a great ambiance and good music is always on the menu! nowhere in montreal you will see better music playing while you enjoy their delicious tapas and specials of the day.

and yes... if you go downstairs, red room, turns into the "happening" house music spot. a small electric room with a capacity of 50-70 people with a fantastic bar and the best local dj talents on the weekends.

i celebrated nye 2014 at joverse and it was anightto remember! you can always count on this place for a great time!

if you're looking for the most happening place to be at, be sure to go to joverse. in my opinion it is by far the best looking place to hit up in montreal! after admiring the totally one-off decor you will love the service from the amazing and friendly staff to cater to your needs ;) there's also something special added to their already stellar food menu every evening! don't miss anothernightaway from the beautiful clientele and not to mention the amazing music, whether you choose to be upstairs or to get lost in the music downstairs in the redroom be sure to try them both! cheers!!

worstnightin a long time. seriously i don't understand the reviews being so positive. i can usually find the positive in every place i go and i go out in old montreal .. a lot !

but this is got to be the worst place i have been in old montreal in a long time.

service was beyond horrible and the way the waiters treated us in unexplicable.

we could not get food before 10:30 (2 hours after we arrived). we had to leave and find another place to actually have supper before midnight (after 2 hours we only got slidders and oisters)

the table was right in the middle of the waiters way so they were bumping into us all the time

i hated it.

that goes without saying that it is a very young crowd (18yrs oldish)

i will never ever go back. the customer there is far from priority and it is very much overpriced for what you get (if you can ever get your food)

the divas are used to crazy montreal weather so when the forecast called for freezing rain, it had no impact on our dinner plans.  after all, we have to eat!  and more importantly, zeus had requested a divasnightbecause he missed us and was in withdrawal.  so who are we to deny him such a pleasure? as always, parking in old montreal is trying.  parking with a snowstorm becomes a sport.  and while the valet at one of the hotels refused to take our car because we weren’t going to the hotel or attached restaurant, he kindly pointed out an illegal parking spot on the corner.  apparently the parking guys were being lenient because of the weather, and somehow we didn’t get a ticket. located in the heart of old montreal on st jacques,  the main floor has a large bar in the center of the room, as well as tables and banquets with a dj mixing in the corner – the style is very loft like.  the divas, sweet pea, vegan vixen, and our friend kool-aid, kept a seat free for zeus. 

good times. i ate at joverse twice.
the first time, i had a shrimp risotto cooked in coconu milk. it was delicious. both rice and shrimps were perfect, not overcooked. the service was nice and very friendly.
last time i went the menu had changed for tapas and we were 7 people at our table. we tried different things, from tacos to salad. everything was delicious except for the joverse salad which was a little boring, lacking of generosity + imagination. the service was great and the ambiance was super fun. we ended up partying allnightin the red room and had a pure blast. will definitely go back.

i went to joverse with some friends from new york. the food was delicious with a pleasant vibe from both the staff and the crowd.

then we went down to the red room and danced thenightaway.

i would go back there anytime i'm back in mtl and would recommend it to anyone.

all i have to say is.. wow! delicious gourmet cuisine with lots of variety. the ambiance is best in the city. the music was incredible as the live dj was was the perfect addition to the setting. the perfect translation on thenightfrom dinner to drinks an the rest of the night. my favorite place in the city.
