felt right at home as soon as i walked in. great decor with a tasteful mix of old & new. food was delicious, menu is exiting and the portions just right. to top it off, some of the best housemusicmontreal as to offer.

a little disappointing....... we visited joverse while in montreal for memorial day weekend. we arrived on-time for a friday night reservation @ 7:30. we were not greeted and had to ask the bartender where we should check in. a gentleman came over, showed us to our seats and advised that the table had to be avail for a 9:30 seating. we figured a 2 hour window should be sufficient. this "restaurant" seemed to be more of a social / spot-of-the-moment place. themusicwas already above conversation level and made hearing our host very hard. it has a tapas-style menu and proved to be pricey. each item was served with two "portions", even though there were three in our party. we asked if a third could be added and was told we would have to order a second plate. considering an average cost of $13-15 dollars per order, we made do. we tried their crab cakes (sauce on top too sweet and unnecessary), pulled-pork taco (best item of the group), beef sliders (greasy and under-cooked) and a blackboard special of deconstructed ribs with an overly spicy side of kimchi (didn't care for either). one would think the cost would allow for the size of the portions to be more substantial but one would be wrong. the service was pushed as they seemed to be clearing things from the table as soon as a plate became empty (and more than once had to ask them to stop removing things before we had finished with them). maybe this pace allowed them to turn the table quicker but it was annoying. without alcohol, but including a tip, our bill was approx $90.-. for the quantity and quality of the food, this was an experience we will not repeat.

joverse unique montreal concept. there doesn't seem to be a term able to encompass the experience offered by joverse. good thing come to those who take advantage of the dinner service. affordable yet bold and flavorful joverse specialises in tapas style tex/mex. the first thing people will notice upon entering is the warm and refined industrial look. the service was exceptional. themusicadapts to the time of the night starting relaxed and non intrusive and pick up heat towards midnight when joverse becauses a real clubbing hot-spot. a fantastique roster of dj's are to be expected.

great spot. went to joverse for the first time this past weekend and had a blast. was a friends birthday and although it was busy the waiter was friendly and patient. food was excellent and reasonably priced for old montreal.musicwas great and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. will definitely be back.

awesome spot!!. went for a friends birthday and it was a great night. kick started by a delicious meal (fish taco is amazing) and some delicious drinks (ruby tuesday is too good) the evening flowed nicely into a great party.
if you have yet to visit it is well worth the trip.
a great place with great staff, we will be going back very soon!

let me just start by saying that i organize a lot of groups and parties for friends and family alike. this time i was organizing my wife's birthday and had heard that joverse was the place to be, it certainly didn't disappoint.
i first contacted joverse via email requesting a group reservation and i had a number of questions. to my surprise i got a call back from their corporate booking guy within minutes! he was extremely professional and knowledgeable.
our ensuing night at joverse started with a really warm welcome from the host (not to mention he was wearing a kick ass pair of jordans with pink socks and bowtie! lol) and an even warmer welcome from our waitress. considering how busy it was on this saturday night, it was refreshing to find a bar in montreal that didn't have a snobby stuck up staff without any smiles.
food wise my wife and i shared a bunch of tapas size plates....the crab cakes and the beef tacos were amazing! my wife loved her cocktail and i loved the name of her cocktail. they made it with johnnie walker and cleverly named it the johnnie mnemonic.
the late-night vibe blew my mind! i honestly haven't seen anything like this in montreal or anywhere for that matter since the last time i went to new york. the crowd was douche free with good looking people all around and themusicwas good times from start to finish.

looking for a great experience eating out with your friends and parting...trust me, don't hesitate!

horrible service and prices. never again.. it was my first time going to this place which was apparently a cool place and we were celebrating a birthday, group of 16. decor andmusicwas great. but that is nothing compared to the terrible and unpleasant service and greeting that we had. half of us were already there and ordered, when we were suddenly asked to be pulled a table because not everyone yet has arrived and that the reservation was at 9pm, i was about 10:30pm... since when do you get pulled a table from a group when the "whole group. is not there (missing 1/16)? worst part is yet to come. when the food arrived, the "manager" then came and he said that the table we had was a 2000$ table and that we only ordered one meal each and a bottle of wine (until now)... * they make you feel guilty for not paying enough when they could be doing more on that table with other customers.* how it ends, the managers asks the bouncer to put out the whole group, we paid the bottle only (because that's what was only consumed) and left. now other than that, the portion of food (main dishes) that i saw was incredibly small that would be considered as entrees. i would not recommend this place, food didn't taste it, but you don't get enough for what you will pay for, service was irritating, if you look like you won't be ordering enough, you'll get the amount of service that comes with it. never again i would step into this awful place.

amazing for any occasion. i have been a huge fan of joverse ever since its opening. it's conveniently located in old montreal, within a few walking minutes from the metro. i enjoy going there to grab a drink to catch up with friends, for a delicious meal with my boyfriend or simply to have a fun night out on the town. the decor is gorgeous, themusicis always outstanding, the people are beautiful, the staff is very friendly and welcoming, the cuisine always hits the spot, the cocktail list is original and affordable... i can't say enough good things.

just what montreal needed!. joverse is the kind of place montreal always lacked!

located in the beautiful old montreal, the restaurant has some of the best tapas style food i have had in the city. the sliders are delicious and the beef tartar can rival any top restaurants around the world.

the staff is excellent!! i don't remember seeing a better staff in a bar/restaurant in montreal. they are friendly and welcoming, yet very respectful. the restaurant upstairs has a great ambiance and goodmusicis always on the menu! nowhere in montreal you will see bettermusicplaying while you enjoy their delicious tapas and specials of the day.

and yes... if you go downstairs, red room, turns into the "happening" housemusicspot. a small electric room with a capacity of 50-70 people with a fantastic bar and the best local dj talents on the weekends.

i celebrated nye 2014 at joverse and it was a night to remember! you can always count on this place for a great time!

best food. i reserved for a group for my birthday. this place was perfect!
the food is awesome, very creative, loved that we could all share little bites instead of big huge individual dishes, my favorite being the duck tacos (omg!! )
the service is fast and effective and there is a dj right in the restaurant, so the vibe was super upbeat and happy :)
we all went downstairs in the red room after dinner, where theathmosphere is different, a bit darker and perfect to dance: it was definitely one of the greatest birthdays i ever had!
if you like excellent food, good vibes, housemusicand unpretentious crowd, you need to hang at joverse!!

if you're looking for the most happening place to be at, be sure to go to joverse. in my opinion it is by far the best looking place to hit up in montreal! after admiring the totally one-off decor you will love the service from the amazing and friendly staff to cater to your needs ;) there's also something special added to their already stellar food menu every evening! don't miss another night away from the beautiful clientele and not to mention the amazing music, whether you choose to be upstairs or to get lost in themusicdownstairs in the redroom be sure to try them both! cheers!!

beautiful, trendy, and delicious. with a fantastic ambience, friendly staff, and delicious food, this restaurant/bar is a great place to check out if you're in the old port! be sure to try their unique tacos that come in several varieties. my personal favourite are the duck tacos, which are based off the chinese peking duck dish.

the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable about their craft and have lots of mixology skill. don't be afraid to ask them to make something for you that's out of the box!

in addition to the great food and drinks, they also have incrediblemusicas they hire a dj to provide the perfect backgroundmusicto accompany your meal.

the place looks amazing! the beer is always as ice! greatmusictoo and quite a lot of beautiful women!! perfect bar for a bite and relaxing after work!
