jizo japanese cafe & bar

jizo is my go-to place whenever i am in dunedin. staff are all very friendly and tentative and the place is always so busy creating agreatatmosphere.

food is alwaysgreathere! such diverse options, nice atmosphere and service.greatplace!

by far one of my favourite japanese places. very well priced andgreatportions. i'm from out of town and jizo is always my go to when visiting dunedin

have been to jizo a lot in the last few months and really enjoy each time. cheap sushi (that doesn't taste half bad) and lovely and fresh. i always order the vege tempura with rice, jizo mayo and cabbage and carrot salad (i forget the name of it on the menu) but it is soooo yummy! amazing value for money and is cooked fresh and comes out hot.greatoption for vegetarians!

if i had to choose eating some japanese food, i think i would choose this place simply because of the quality of the food. they're quite close to what they're meant to be. the presentation of the food is also elegant, with a wide range of dishes to choose from and agreatatmosphere of the place.

the only downside of the place is that you can't book in advance. usually on the weekends, the place is packed. it's not ideal for a night out.

awesome! i just love this place and have been several times! their food is amazing very fresh and is made to order (sushi etc....) it's delicious and can't recommend them enough!greatvalue for money too.

where to start humm,
well the teriyaki tuna sushi is amazing i could eat it and eat it and eat it. the spicy miso soup is very satisfying and the karage chicken with the mayo is crazy good probably the best fried chicken i have ever had and its always great. i haven't had anything i didn't like.
its busy and quick most of the time but you'll get that when a place has suchgreatgood.

i really like going to jizo. fairly authentic setting and food. the menu could be broader, but there are enough choices -- both safe and daring -- to satisfy. the cooking isgreatand the service is friendly. highly recommended.

have been to jizo twice now. excellent food, good quality,greatvariety and well priced. it'sgreatto have a place you can take your family that is economical and healthy. the last visit i went with a couple of friends. the place was very busy and we thought we'd be lucky to get a seat but they work so efficiently that it was only a matter of minutes before a table was free. the food came quickly and was delicious. i had teriyaki salmon... mmm! next week is my hubby's birthday and i'm going to take him and the children. our children are reasonably fussy eaters but there's enough of a variety on the menu i'm sure they'll find something they'll enjoy.

excellent little japanese restaurant. the tereyaki tuna sushi are devine. shame they stopped doing tempura thou.the miso isgreattoo.

this restaurant is fabulous. it has a wide range of meals; sushi, sashimi, teriyaki, udon, tempura the works, all available with fish, meat or tofu, and always with vegetables or a special salad. the service is spectacular, and the prices are more than reasonable.

in my opinion, its most noteworthy aspect is its year-round supply of a-grade tuna sashimi - the price is the same all year-round, and it is always exquisitely prepared. another favourite dish of mine is the seaweed and shrimp salad. it has a range of different fresh and delicious seaweeds, juicy shrimp, cucumber, lettuce, carrot, capsicum on occasion, and two dressings - and all for less than $9.

jizo also has a range of japanese and new zealand beers, sake by the bottle or the carafe, and agreatatmosphere and interior design.

i recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting dunedin as well as locals, and frequent it myself regularly - always good!
