everyone has that local pizzeria close by,italiankitchen is ours. apparently you get more pizza for your penny if they are square!!! the pizzas are really good and the breakfast special is always a win for the hangover sods who lost their wallets the night before. i also feel the restaurant has not reached its full potential. they have a lovely outside area that is ideal for some type of happy hour in summer! they could also raise the menu prices by r10 if they changed the those table cloths. the decor is pretty good but the table cloths give it a slightly off feel.

i visiteditaliankitchen with a friend on a rainy tuesday afternoon. upon entry, the place seemed very quiet and we only spotted one waiter. we had to seat ourselves and grab our own menus as he seemed very preoccupied.

despite this, the food was quite good and reasonably priced. i would definitely return to sample their other pastas and their pizzas. i had a chicken and mushroom type of pasta upon recommendation of the waiter and my friend had the steak.

the decor was understated and cosy. i quite enjoyed the experience as the food spoke volumes.

in my opinion there are not much places in cape town that serves great pizza, but for meitaliankitchen comes closets to serving great all round pizzas. bases are baked perfectly and the toppings are delicious. pizzas are beautifully presented as well.

i visited theitaliankitchen in tokai this evening for dinner with my mother.

to start off.italiankitchen has a warm welcoming atmosphere. the décor definitely saiditalianand fitted the restaurant.

the food was delicious! i had the chicken and spinach risotto. it was rich in flavour and aroma!
my mother ordered the carbonara linguine. it was tasty and the presentation was homely!

the service was the only let down. firstly i don't appreciate being greeted in french at aitalianrestaurant. secondly the manageress was clearly only interested in her regular customers ,or maybe i just looked scary, because she never visited or checked with our table, but visit all the tables around us. lastly we waited ages to pay our bill, 15 mins to be exact!

i would consider returning for the food. but the service definitely requires some work.

i was pretty disappointed with our experience at theitaliankitchen. a really lovely,cosy restaurant; we were greeted by the friendly manager and could smell the most delicious pizzas as we entered.

sadly, we waited close on an hour for food in a restaurant with only 10 tables occupied. we noticed that many of the tables around us were also waiting on food. turns out they had a very big table in their downstairs private room. but we were only notified about this after complaining. no complimentary bread basket to tide us over on the long wait either!

as for the food: i had the ham and mushroom rissoto and it was amazing-and a huge portion too. leftover for the next day's lunch -perfect! however, 2 fillets ordered at the table were both overcooked to various degrees. to her credit, when the manager came to the table and was notified , she did offer to take the food back. but after such a lengthy wait- the guys were super hungry and declined. this was all after having to wait further for the 4th dish at the table; a pizza that took longer to come out as the wrong toppings were put on and discovered after.

the pizza was reportedly delicious, as were the sauces accompanying the steaks.

such a lovely restaurant, and delicious food -though i'd reccomend not ordered the steak as this was not a highlight.
i'll probably be back to try the pizza , but not in a great hurry after my experience.

tastyitaliancooking. we ordered the creamy prawn pasta and the mushroom and chicken pasta. both dishes were delicious and generous in portion and flavour. we were there in the middle of the day but can definitely imagine the ambience being calm and friendly when busy.

it has been ages since we last tried this local restuarant mainly because we don't eat pasta or pizza so generally avoid "italian" restaurants! butitalianfood should be much more than that so we decided to give it another try. we were welcome enthusiastically and given an option of tables. i had the yellow tail which was great, juicy, well grilled and lightly seasoned. michele had the woodfired chicken breast which she enjoyed. the service was acceptable ant the setting pleasant.

myself and my digsmates were craving some amazing, home cooked food and decided thatitaliancuisine was the best way to go:) as soon as we walked through the front door of theitaliankitchen, we felt like we were walking into our own kitchens back home. the staff are really friendly and the food was amazing. i would definitely recommend my meal that i choice which was the salmon and prawn risotto. absolutely mouth watering.

friends and myself came for dinner as we were wanting some yummyitaliancooked food!

on arrival, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. we sat at a large round table which was a nice change compared to the normal square tables.

our food was served quickly and was simply delicious! i had the mushroom risotto- the "ladies portion" which was definitely big enough to make me full! it is a rich dish- so less is better in that case!

my friend order the chicken and spinach pizza- which was good but lacked some flavor- we felt as if something was missing!

overall it was a really enjoyable and affordable meal!

it was the wife's birthday on wednesday so i booked a table atitaliankitchen for us and a few friends. i have driven past and noticed this place a hundred times and from the outside its not much to look at. but as soon as you step inside its warm and inviting. when we arrived the place was empty but no sooner i looked up and it was filled to capacity.

we ordered some pizza, pasta, risotto and one of the guests had a calzone. the ladies who had the pizza and pasta absolutely loved it (after they figured out just how to eat a square pizza). the calzone was huge and looked delicious, although it could have done with more cheese.

this was my first ever risotto... and i have to admit it seemed a bit undercooked and chalky. the other lady who had risotto agreed. that being said the flavor was spot on.

service was efficient and friendly. food and drinks are also well priced. will definitely return, although i've used up all my entertainer vouchers for this specific venue :(

kerb appeal not great driven past hundreds of times and not noticed restaurant.
was invited by friends. what a great restaurant. quaint, smallish great service and fantastic food. being small i suggest you book. just cause itsitaliandont look past the burgers. i had the lamb and mint burger which is right up there with the best burgers i have had. the pizzas looked good and my wife's risotto was also very good. did not have kids with is so could
not really evaluate their child friendliness. want a good meal try this place

theitaliankitchen is gorgeous - even though it's a relatively small restaurant, you don't feel crowded or cramped, and the waitrons were very warm and friendly. i munched on their undici pizza - tomato, mozzarella, chicken, assorted berries and camembert... sweet bliss! 

wonderful place to go for a wine with colleagues after work on a friday, or for a romantic dinner with your loved one.
