very very slow service. waited just started about an hour to receive our meal (mains only)
would not recommend lasagne dish - too strong as tomato purée overdone to create tomato color / taste, rather use tomatoes. risotto and ribs were good.
it's been a while since last visit, again left feeling disappointed. not likely to return again

everyone has that local pizzeria close by, italian kitchen is ours. apparently you get more pizza for your penny if they are square!!! the pizzas are really good and the breakfast special is always a win for the hangover sods who lost their wallets the night before. i also feel the restaurant has not reached its full potential. they have a lovely outside area that is ideal for some type of happy hour in summer! they could also raise the menu prices by r10 if they changed the those table cloths. the decor is pretty good but the table cloths give it a slightly off feel.

i visited italian kitchen with a friend on a rainy tuesday afternoon. upon entry, the place seemed very quiet and we only spotted one waiter. we had to seat ourselves and grab our own menus as he seemed very preoccupied.

despite this, the food was quite good and reasonably priced. i would definitely return to sample their other pastas and their pizzas. i had a chicken and mushroom type of pasta upon recommendation of the waiter and my friend had the steak.

the decor was understated and cosy. i quite enjoyed the experience as the food spoke volumes.

another lovely experience, without a doubt the most friendliest restuarant in cape town, complimented with great food, highly recommended to all cape town residents & visitors

in my opinion there are not much places in cape town that serves great pizza, but for me italian kitchen comes closets to serving great all round pizzas. bases are baked perfectly and the toppings are delicious. pizzas are beautifully presented as well.

a nice cozy place for dinner. the pasta was incredible, but a bit overpriced when compared to similar restaurants - we had the prawn pasta and the cabanarro with field mushrooms. both are highly recommend. service was great!

booked a table. when we got there we were told they made a mess up with the reservations and we had to
wait. instead of ensuring that this is in order, but no we stood around like idiots. so annoying. this is not the first time this has happened

i visited the italian kitchen in tokai this evening for dinner with my mother.

to start off. italian kitchen has a warm welcoming atmosphere. the décor definitely said italian and fitted the restaurant.

the food was delicious! i had the chicken and spinach risotto. it was rich in flavour and aroma!
my mother ordered the carbonara linguine. it was tasty and the presentation was homely!

the service was the only let down. firstly i don't appreciate being greeted in french at a italian restaurant. secondly the manageress was clearly only interested in her regular customers ,or maybe i just looked scary, because she never visited or checked with our table, but visit all the tables around us. lastly we waited ages to pay our bill, 15 mins to be exact!

i would consider returning for the food. but the service definitely requires some work.

i was pretty disappointed with our experience at the italian kitchen. a really lovely,cosy restaurant; we were greeted by the friendly manager and could smell the most delicious pizzas as we entered.

sadly, we waited close on an hour for food in a restaurant with only 10 tables occupied. we noticed that many of the tables around us were also waiting on food. turns out they had a very big table in their downstairs private room. but we were only notified about this after complaining. no complimentary bread basket to tide us over on the long wait either!

as for the food: i had the ham and mushroom rissoto and it was amazing-and a huge portion too. leftover for the next day's lunch -perfect! however, 2 fillets ordered at the table were both overcooked to various degrees. to her credit, when the manager came to the table and was notified , she did offer to take the food back. but after such a lengthy wait- the guys were super hungry and declined. this was all after having to wait further for the 4th dish at the table; a pizza that took longer to come out as the wrong toppings were put on and discovered after.

the pizza was reportedly delicious, as were the sauces accompanying the steaks.

such a lovely restaurant, and delicious food -though i'd reccomend not ordered the steak as this was not a highlight.
i'll probably be back to try the pizza , but not in a great hurry after my experience.

the meaty pizza certainly lives up to its name and could be one of the best pizzas in cape town. decor and furniture are a little dated, nonetheless, a good experience overall.

i love this cosy restaurant in tokai! it has a very relaxed and chilled atmosphere. my partner and i love the sei and nove pizza. 

the service is always great. i wish they would put the chairs and tables outside for anyone who wanted to dine outside during summer.

tasty italian cooking. we ordered the creamy prawn pasta and the mushroom and chicken pasta. both dishes were delicious and generous in portion and flavour. we were there in the middle of the day but can definitely imagine the ambience being calm and friendly when busy.

friendly waiter and nice cosy restaurant but my husband ordered a burger that was really quite disappointing. no toppings (lettuce or tomato) except for the patty. the patty was flavourless and tasted like it has been defrosted in the microwave. not sure we wil be going back.

really enjoyed my evening at this wonderful little restaurant. we were greeted warmly on our arrival and the service was excellent. the pizza bases were really thin and crispy...not everybody likes this, but i do :)
all the staff were extremely helpful and i live the decor. felt right at home here and will definitely be back :)
