never again!!   too noisy could not talk at all.
we went to ishka for dinner on sunday night.  the waitresses were friendly and lovely but that was it.
i ordered the pork 3 ways and cabbage with apple.  i asked the lady how much veges were on the plate and she suggested we get a side dish and thank goodness she did.  my pork consisted of 6cm long pork belly no crackle all fat,  2 pieces of pork 5cm long with no flavour, tasted reheated.  two 4cm long croquettes on a tablespoon of cabbage and two very thin slices of cooked apple.  $38.   i ordered side order of chips.   they were nice but $9.50  please....
so all up $47.50 for 5 mouthfuls of pork and chips.

the venue, view and customer service were excellent, however we were not so happy with the food.  we had a table of four - my kingfish cerviche entrée appeared undressed and was quite dry and unappetising.  two of our contingent had whiting for their entrée which had decent sized bones, making it awkward to eat.  this dish also seemed to be without dressing.  the guest who had the soufflé enjoyed it.  mains were good but not special and for the price we paid, we were expecting more.  eton mess desert similarly was okay but certainly didn't have a 'wow' factor.  this is the first time i have written a review for a restaurant.  i have no problem paying higher prices for dinner, especially when we were entertaining interstate visitors who have never been to perth before.  my issue is that the higher prices did not give us a memorable 'foodie' experience which is what we were expecting and hoping for.  the saving grace was the view, service and company, which ultimately made the evening enjoyable.

we had a lovely meal here last night. we were in the private dining area and we were relatively well looked after. the meals all came out and everyone was happy. the venue was able to cater for a few dietary requirements also. the only negative was that there was no ocean view in the private room. i would recommend this place.

having grown up just down the road from hillarys marina in the northern suburbs of perth, i spent a lot of time at the original, irish themed breakwater tavern. back in the day, it was the local hotspot for a cracking wednesday night session, terrible friday night karaoke and a great spot to enjoy the vibe of the relaxed marina. (it is also the place where i met my future husband as we worked the bar together, but that’s another story!)

came here for valentine's day. $115 per person which we were required to prepay fully at the time of booking. so, for that price we had high expectations. we were not disappointed. service and food was good. the only things i would criticise about is that there could have been a couple more scallops (there were only 3) and the green leaves that came with it weren't that nice, and my chicken lacked sauce/dressing. the dessert platter was delicious. overall, we were satisfied. although it was somewhat expensive, we didn't forget we were paying for the occasion as well.

came here again for a second time. great cocktails. good food. i had the pork loin. i did think however, there was a lack of sauce. i was told that the trout dish had too much of the chia seeds i believe, it was a bit overloaded. we all thought the entrees (which we all happened to have chosen seafood) were better than the mains. the desserts were great.

however, we weren't too happy about the water. found out when paying the bill at the end that the bottle of water was $10, and we asked for a second bottle not realising the cost, so it costed us $20 just for water! we would have rather paid for another dish of food or another cocktail for that amount.

i went to maccas after having a "fine dining" here.
2 small beef cutlets with a spoon of chopped kale for $50.00 - yes very fine ;)

to make it worse, it won't take long for you to place an order.. the menu is a book of 3 small pages ( entree, main, dessert ) as opposed to beverage which is a map thick options of alcohol.

sorry to rate 1 in spite of amazing cleanliness, setting, and sea views.

we went for a birthday celebration,it was really stuffy everyone was hot and no air con the wait for food between courses was abysmal, everyone was ready to go home and falling asleep at the empty table by the time the cake finally came out and i had to go and ask how much longer it would be. ruined the night and my birthday. we were not even offered coffee or desert menu, some of our party had to go to the bar and get their own drinks, no ingredients available for a bellini  non attentive waiters. food was okish, though my chicken dish looked very unappetising and bland it tasted ok, view was fantastic. also had to make a point of asking for the remaining cake as they had only used one third, it was not offered to us. they need to up their service game.

the food is quite expensive here, but they do have fabulous views overlooking sorento quay. i enjoyed my cocktail, food was okay. ordered the duck and the flavours were nice but the duck was still a bit too pink for my liking.

do not get the oysters here. they are microscopic. service completely inattentive. had to go get our own water, as even though two separate staff members asked if we wanted any, no one actually brought it out. food took forever to arrive. we went for 2 x fish special ($44) and 1 x steak special ($44). mains were very tasty. steak dish was not a bad size either. the fish dish didn't look very filling. the side of chips ($9.50) consisted of very large slices of potato, would have been nice with a sauce/dip to break up the mouthfuls of potato. we had the blood orange cocktail, the turkish delight cocktail and the rose petal cocktail ($18 each). they were all tasty but didn't taste at all alcoholic. went went for 2 x eton mess for dessert ($15 each). mine had collapsed on the plate so looked like a dog's breakfast. i think it lacked fruit, fruit sauce and cream and was overpowered by a lot of meringue. lovely decor and dim lighting and luckily the breakwater downstairs wasn't too loud. the three tables on the balcony overlooking the sunset and marina would be the perfect seating. although the food was tasty enough, it was expensive and the service was completely nondescript therefore i would not return.

never fails to impress whether its a special occassion or casual post beach feed. can get quite noisy when there is live music or big crowd downstairs. food is worth coming back for and the service is attentive but not obtrusive.

the loudest restaurant we've ever been too. extremely hard to hear others at the table due to the night club below. food was average and the size of the servings were small. service was ok but they could have engaged with us more that may have resulted in additional drinks. pricing = expensive for what you get. won't be back, 5/10.

this place oozes sophistication as soon as you walk in from the decor, the lighting everything feels expensive. the view across hillary boat harbor is breath taking.. food is beautifully presented. mains are $40+.( main only) and you have to order sides, which ends up costing another $20. portions are small considering $$$. i could easily eat two mains myself. if only the food tasted as good as it looked. the wine list is extensive, covering wines from various regions. overall found it an expensive experience- fine dinning i guess.

the high tea experience at ishka on a sunday afternoon started off well but the lack of service throughout the duration dampened the overall experience. ishka is located upstairs from the breakwater and a big group of us girls were shown to our table close to the window which was great because of the really nice view.

so the food review...
-the highlight of the high tea menu was the freshly made scones with strawberry jam and double cream. the scones was still warm and it was a really great way to start the high tea.
- overall i really did enjoy the menu a lot and there was a great selection of savory and sweet. by the time i finished my portions i was satisfied and full.

okay the cons..
- my friend who is gluten intolerant got the gluten free version of the high tea and was very disappointed. paying $42 she only got a plate of sandwiches, frittatas and two sweet treats. value wise, it was overpriced for what she got and i don't recommend going here if you are gluten intolerant.
- in terms of the service it started off attentive but once the waitresses place the tea and the food on the tables, they didn't come back to refill our teapots or milk. trying to get someone's attention was hard as they seemed to have disappeared. maybe they were short staffed but it was disappointing that the service wasn't there to make the high tea experience at ishka memorable.

the venue was very nice and and paying $42 for the high tea was reasonable (not if your gluten intolerant) for perth. the high tea was not the best i ever had but it wasn't bad either. overall would go back to ishka again for the scones and the lovely view.

my wife and i had lunch the other day. impressive location. stylish surroundings. the service was friendly and prompt. we ordered the fish of the day and were really impressed with both the taste and the presentation.
