had a midweek business dinner at the breakwater. i had the veal cheek to start and the fish special for main. i can't remember exactly what the fish was but it was definitely overcooked, the sides were ok. others had fish, one barramundi which looked delicious, and another the same as me, no complaints from either. the veal cheek was ok too, nothing special.

really nice venue and staff were nice.

i would like to say that i enjoyed my experience tonight but unfortunately the service went missing. we had to wait easily 15 minutes just to order a drink, unfortunately the waitress didn’t know how to use the ordering tablet and didn’t know the difference between a cider and a cocktail. once we got our drinks orders a different waitress came to take our food order and after that all service that we had waited for disappeared. once we had finished our first round of drinks we had to ask a staff member for the drinks menu so we could order another drink, yet again we had to wait for our order to be taken. only after our meals had arrived we had to ask again for our drinks to be ordered. by the time our drinks arrived we had just about finished our meals. the worst part of the night was that is was my daughters 18th birthday and i convinced her to go to ishka over cocoa’s as the last time i went to ishka the service was brilliant. you have dropped the ball and i will have to think twice about going again.

dropped in without any plans of where to eat. the decor gave the impression of a great venue but unfortunately the food left us underwhelmed. our waitress bec was professional and a delight to have serving us. the food on the other hand was the opposite, while it wasn't bad it certainly wasnt good. the quail for entree just left me wondering, what was that? the trio of pork let me down as the cheek had run out and i simply found the pork bland and the pork belly with soft skin just not to my liking. my partner had the steak on special which was cooked well past the medium that was asked for and lacked flavour. the design of the premises is also annoying with the noise from the bar below being funneled into the restaurant due to the open plan. it looks the goods but is disappointing really.

tonight we had the seafood entree, eye fillet and barramundi main and it went down better than the castellano hit. the setting and mood was that good, it would have made carmella soprano blush! we can forgive them for making us feel invisible at times because they were busy tonight with a wedding function next door and a high tea. however i stand by my recommended rating of 4 out of 5 rating because the customer service was average.

having a bit of a break from adelaide in scarborough, perth foodie mate and myself decided to head to ishka for dinner. although we had read mixed reviews from different sites, we thought, we will try anyway! well! my foodie friends! we really should have taken notice and not bothered, severe waste of money.

the décor is actually quite lovely (except the dining chairs look a bit cheap which i found unusual).

service was good, except for the fact that they did not handle complaints too well, the most difficult job for a waiter, as this is usually not their fault.

we started with some cocktails, which were okay, the marshmallow martini i had was uber sweet, so beware!

i ordered the lobster, cuttlefish entrée and foodie mate had the beetroot ricotta ravioli, underwhelming, you know? when you have finished your entrée and no one has anything to say about it! i am not even sure that i had wa lobster, tasted like slipper lobster and was overcooked. the cuttlefish had no flavour, sauces were okay and a bit of shredded iceberg and cherry toms, not really fine dining fare. the ravioli was under seasoned and lacking in ricotta. we also shared some oysters with the crispy bacon and smoked chilli, really nice but no crispy bacon. i had a second entrée as my main, which was the smoked duck dish and didn’t eat this, the combination does not work, cold slices of duck, fat not rendered properly, skin not crispy at all and yet the pears were warm! crisp bread doesn’t belong on the plate either, goat cheese nice though! although these are all good ingredients, they didn’t come together as a whole dish. foodie mate had the pork dish, which any home cook could have done, this is not the standard we were expecting. had mash as a side which was also left, just wasn’t up to standard.

the biggest disappointment of all, was the dessert platter to share.

we had a terrible choc pudding which was not a pudding at all, like a dry brownie with cheap choc bits, lime rice coconut was just a bit of dry rice with zero taste, brulee was okay, rasp & almond tart was passable, again lacking taste and the eton mess was just that.

we did say a few words to our waitress about our meals, which was taken on board and referred back to the kitchen, but, we received no acknowledgement. it was only when we went to pay, that we were refunded the duck and the mash, but still, no words from the kitchen or management.

what we found, overall, was that the décor and service just didn’t match the food that was being served, there is room for improvement here and this should be acted upon immediately.

5 star venue, service and price but none of the food stacked up. started with massive juicy looking seared tasteless cold scallops ( not sure how you remove the taste from scallops)? my wife's scotch fillet was a poor quality piece of meat and overcooked (ordered rare). my fillet ticked all the boxes cooking wise, but we topped off with an underwhelming serve each of the chef's take an eton mess. this was our let's give it another try visit the last one for another year or two.

i read the recent reviews and still chose to come here. why did i do it? maybe i wanted the sea view, the fancy setting, or may be i wanted the nice drive up to the boat harbour....

don't be fooled by the location. this is the ultimate restaurant rip-off.

the $46 seafood entree plate (to share) was so overpriced it was an insult. it included 2x tiny oysters, 2x scallops, 2 very small pieces of cured salmon, 2x small prawns, the crab was missing, and a small avocado tian.

consider this... the oysters was $4 or $4.50 each, so that's a maximum of $9 out of the $46. where's the rest of the money going to?

the waitress advised the eye fillet 250g, but it looks much closer to 200g. i ordered it rare, and it came out medium. worth mentioning that it was flavourful and tender however.

my colleague had the ravioli. i can't comment on the taste or quality, but for $33 it was entree sized.

we also ordered a salad but it was never served. unsure if we were charged for it.

the only positives was that the oysters (though tiny) were excellent, fresh and flavourful. the service was attentive, but the overall experience was so disappointing that the best service wasn't going to make up for it.

take my advice, go somewhere else...

i came for a work christmas party high tea on the weekend, view was great from upstairs and the food was fresh and tasty. could do with some more ventilation up there though as it was a very hot day! will be back again.

you will get super excited when you see the ambience and the views.. but that is basically it...staff with attitude, long time for the dishes.... and food was really average ...i've been here before and the quality has dropped a lot... the worst part is that i took some friends and hyped them up for the place...

not awful ........... but,
the wife's birthday so went to ishka as its a bit special, well, usually it is.
something has changed, not for the better, i feel the quality of the ingredients are not as good as they used to be. starters was over seasoned and a weird textured fish was being passed off as salmon, i am pretty certain it was not. my steak was tough, the wife's chicken was bland, we didn't chance desert. i think it may have been the chefs night off perhaps.
to conclude, i will give it another go, but if it hasn't improved, i will not bother beyond that. i really could do better at home.

went here for a friends birthday. service is of high standard sadly the food does not match the prices charged, clearly a surcharge for the view. entree serving sizes small and expensive though delicious. had the main fish and it was dry, lacking flavor and seasoning.

good service but i think they need a chef who knows how to cook as my rear steak was so cold you can't taste anything, waste my money 😓😡

my parter ordered trio pork as it sound delicious, however when we got it, the best way to describe will be 3 different looks of how to present pork. the pork was tasteless and nothing really stand out that's worth paying almost $40 for a plate.

it's a real disappointment for a fine dining choice of restaurant. the menu is so limited and we won't be going back again for sure. it's the first and will be last time we visit this place.
