quite the experience.humpy'swas listed as one of the top restaurants anywhere in the u.s., and while i think that may be a bit of a stretch, i would agree that it is quite the experience. the beer selection is unbelievable, and i've never had a bad meal here. yes, it is definitely a bar, but don't think that you're going to be served the standard bar food. and don't be mistaken, it is one busy place that packs out frequently, so service can slow down from time to time. that's the price you pay for hanging in a place that excels in food, spirits and live entertainment. you have a handful of bad reviews for a place that is often "standing room only".......you do the math.

terrible customer service. i have been coming tohumpy'ssince they opened in anchorage over 20 years ago. it has always been a big favorite of both mine and my hubby. we both enjoy a really good beer and appreciate a good beer selection. my hubby and i actually had our 1st date athumpy's19.5 years ago--we went tohumpy'sfor beers after seeing a great white concert at the egan. we move to kona on the big island of hawaii from 2004-2011 and were so excited when they opened in the old hard rock location on ali'i drive. we were there on opening night and so happy to see an alaska company we loved come to kona! life and careers haven't allowed us to visithumpy'smuch since we moved back, so i was really excited that i recently started a job (last week) two blocks away. today, i had very limited time with many meetings but didn't bring my own lunch. i thought finally...i can order from humpy's!! i looked at their online menu and called up for a cheeseburger.... first, the phone rang and rang. i had almost given up when someone answered. i gave my pick-up order and was told it would be 15 minutes. i had someone come to my office and talk with me so i didn't get out of the office to pick up the food for about 25 minutes. i was thinking it would be a quick jump in and grab the food since it was past the time they gave me for the pick up order. approaching from the rear, i was told to go to the bar and they would have my food. after trying hard to get the bartenders attention, i told him i had a pick-up order. i handed over my credit card and he went to the machine and ran it but didn't go check on the food. he just came over and said it wasn't ready--how do you know this if you don't even check with the kitchen. it was obvious that he had not put in the order, and yes he was the one on the phone i originally put the order in with.. i kept thinking ok, well the food will be good. after hangin for 15 minutes and really needing to go back to work, i went to the bar and asked the bartender how much longer would it be since i was short on time and had specifically called in the order to save time--the response was an attitude of "i am not cooking it. so i don't know." by the time i got my food, it was over 45 minutes since i called in the order. what did i get? a dry burger that had little flavor, terrible service, with a bartender with major attitude, and a big waste of my time. a 20+ year love affair--done!

i enjoy coming tohumpy'stime and time again because it always has a great atmosphere and the food is delicious! no matter who our server is, we get plenty of attention and our food comes out in a timely manner. it's one of my favorite bars to visit in downtown anchorage for food, feels truly alaskan.you can't make reservations as far as i'm aware. but with that knowledge, we always show up a bit earlier than we plan to eat in case we need to look for a table because seating is first come, first serve. but it works out.

i live in downtown anchorage, i like to walk and wander in the shopping district a few days a week and then get a snack and beverage before going home. a day drinker. i occasionally wander into humpy's. 
as an older woman i enjoy that the afternoon, after the lunch crowd has gone, is quiet, the staff is attentive, quick and professional and i am not bothered by the other patrons. i feel safe. 
i also like the low carb, healthy dishes i can choose from. health nut halibut or chicken are my favorites. i love their salads, always fresh, crisp and huge. i love the hummus platter, especially in the summer on the patio. 
i wishhumpy'swould consider replacing or reupholstering the booths, they are uncomfortable and lumpy. adding a few more appetizers, small ones and a happy hour with discounted apps.

humpy's is a must stop every time we are in anchorage.  fabulous food and drinks!   looking forward to tryinghumpy'sin kona this spring!!!

love, love, love the beer-battered halibut fish and chips! when family or friends visit ak i take them tohumpy'sfor fish and chips!! it's always a winner!

fun atmosphere good food. been going tohumpy'sweekly pub quiz on tuesdays and it is a fun atmosphere to gather with friends. enough to choose from on the menu with the specials always being a nice surprise. good place to eat if you are downtown anchorage.

great food, great service. i'm a regular athumpy'sbecause of the great food and the friendly staff. highly recommended!!

locals who love it. we are local, and have beenhumpy'sdevotees since it opened. best halibut burger in town!

busy, hard to get a table, but service and food is great. when catching a show at the arts center,humpy'sis the best location for a beer and bite beforehand. get there with time to spare as they're always busy. but, as to be expected when the food is tasty and beer selection is pretty vast.

new york strip breakfast. if you are looking for a man's breakfast this is the place, every saturday morninghumpy'soffers a new york strip breakfast that is outstanding. a delicious man sized new york strip, two eggs your way, covered with a dollop of hollandaise sauce accompanied by a very healthy portion of fried potatoes and fresh sliced tomatoes over arugula! i like to add an english muffin with a small bowl of their wonderful reindeer gravy. this is a brunch you will never forget, you won't need lunch after this one!

pub quiz rocks. was told to visithumpy'son a tuesday evening to play a trivia game there, pub quiz. the place was nearly standing room only and the place was having fun from door to door. i'm going back.

not the "old"humpy'sanymore. as we all know, things change over time and not always for the better. a pre-show visit monday evening was mostly disappointing. our party arrived early enough to avoid the rush(it was a holiday so the rush was minimal) and were seated quickly. our order of crab cakes was good albeit a little pricier than warranted but the big disappointment was the order of blackened chicken nachos-too salty too eat(must be a way to boost drink sales). they were returned to the kitchen and not replaced. service was poor--it seemed as if the staff could care less that we were there-almost as if we were an inconveniece to their day interrupting their texting and personal conversations. drink glasses went unfilled for over 15 minutes. marginally poor food-abysmal service and staff attitude- and "tourist level pricing" mean no morehumpy'sfor us for a while. time to make a change-but this time for the better please humpy's. we will watch the reviews to see if things improve before we come back.

inflation may have caused prices to rise but the food standards have gone down.humpy'sused to have the best battered halibut in town, now, not even close. the "chunks" were small,
mostly batter, overcooked, and cold the last few times i ordered it. the fries were hard and cold. the halibut burger still kicks butt, burgers in general and fish tacos are good too, except i won't be purchasing one again. there are hardly ever any seats, people camp out forever or sit 2 to a huge booth. don't stop in to eat if you have a schedule to keep. i want to like you humpy's, but in over 10 years you've let me down more than impressed me. you don't get my $$

halibut & beer. always fast hot and delicious. only problem is if you sit by the grill, you will smell likehumpy'sfor thre rest of the day!

the beer selection is phenomenal. the halibut burger, blackened with tomato and cheddar...omg. great musical guests and activities like football, trivia, rockband. in the summer there are often outdoor musical shows on the weekends. awesome place to kick off your downtown activities with friends.

did i mention the beer selection is phenomenal?
